Again, your best option is to order a set of Acer recovery disks.
If you insist on doing things the way hard, then check first that download, you have to SP2 (you don't need SP1a because it is part of the SP2) is correct - check the hash of the file downloaded against one published (where you downloaded of?)
If the hash is correct and then try running SFC/scannow from a command prompt - it may work, depending on how the software manufacturer set up the drive, but it is preferable to use in conjunction with a good OS disc, rather than the recovery disk.

When I opened a new photo layers are automatically locked and not will not unlock. It only started happening. Any ideas?
Some formats like jpg does not support layers, that's why it opens as a locked background layer.
You can unlock the layer by dragging the padlock in the trash. This will convert the background layer to a regular layer.
If this is still insufficient, capture your screen with the open layers panel and everything collapsed expanded layers. Then post here so we can see what is happening.

I get a message saying that I don't have the appropriate permissions to install an extension
I get this message only on a few extensions I'm trying to install. Others install fine. Other times I get a message saying that there was an internal error and that the extension will not be installed, even if the extension is for Dreamweaver CS4, which is what I use. This is for extensions that are free and those that I paid for. I am the admin on this workstation, so I don't understand why I get these messages, especially for those on the permissions. I use a Dell PC with Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
