I am trying to upgrade my XP Home Edition for XP Professional.

I get a message that I can't because the XP Home Edition is newer than the Version Professional. That's not true, but the home edition is the most recent Service Pack. I can boot from the professional disc without losing my other installed software and data files?

Your XP Home is at a higher level of Service Pack to your installation of XP Pro media. Integrate Service Pack 3 into your XP Pro and use this CD to install Windows.

I am trying to install Windows XP Home Edition on XP Pro. How do I? I load it in the drive, reboot and it won't work.

Without going into why you might want to do this, you may access your computer's BIOS and change the order of boot devices so that it looks first at the CD player.  When you start the computer, watch the screen carefully.  There will be a message that says something like, "to change the system settings, press F1.  The exact text, as well as the key, may be different.

Restart the computer and press the key as soon as you see the message (you'll probably just a few seconds).  Once you are in the BIOS configuration utility, navigate using the arrow keys, the tab and button.  Navigation instructions usually appear at the bottom of each screen.

Here's a 'how to' with screenshots.  Your computer may not be identical, but this should help you in the right direction: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ss/bootorderchange.htm

  • Is it possible to upgrade Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 has to Service Pack 3?

I have the original disc of the product. It came as Windows XP SP1a. At in the past (a few years ago), I've upgraded to SP2. I started to receive a STOP error message. I tried to repair the installation of Windows XP Edition family. I can't say for sure right now, but it seems that SP2 just disappeared..., do not know immediately. I always face the STOP error.

When I get things and rerun, can I put SP1a directly to SP3? I don't know the rules relating to the upgrade.

Ask the same question in a different way..., can I've actually updated to SP3 Service Pack while jumping on SP2?

Windows XP Home Edition has always been easy to use. I wouldn't lose it.

The answer could be just a YES or a no thank you for your time.

I don't know the rules relating to the upgrade.

    Hi aqm0207,

How you try to install Windows XP Home Edition?

You may receive an error message "Stop 0x0000007B" in the following scenarios:

    (a) a device driver that your computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.

    (b) a device driver that needs your computer startup controller is damaged.

    (c) It can also occur if the hard drive in the BIOS configuration is bad.

You can check if the SATA hard drive is correctly configured in the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) & can also update the BIOS. If you are not comfortable to do, you can contact the manufacturer of your computer for help.

Note: Changing the BIOS / chipset can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/chipset can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You can also check this link:Advanced troubleshooting of errors "Stop 0x0000007B" in Windows XP

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • The upgrade from Windows XP Home Edition Windows XP Professional SP3 SP3

I need to upgrade to Windows XP Home Edition SP3 of Windows XP Professional.  I'm a small business and 3 computers running Windows XP Home Edition.  I need run Windows XP Professional to join a domain.  I was wondering if doing updated since XP Home SP3 I need to upgrade to XP Pro SP3?

    Hi jackieT387,

Thanks for posting. To perform the upgrade, you must download the House to a pack of equal service than the Pro version. After having done that, you should have no problem, perform the upgrade.

    I hope this helps!

  • can upgrade you vista Home premium to vista professional in order to install windows 7 Professional upgrade?

Husband bought the windows 7 Professional upgrade.  Of course when it did not work and the message was to do a "clean install", we both had type light headed as we thought it that will take all day and probably does not work smoothly since is the most "literate" computer.  I did some internet research and according to microsoft, windows vista business upgrade to windows 7 Professional is an upgrade and not a clean install.  Is it useful to try and uprade my 64-bit edition windows Home premium windows vista professional in order to upgrade to windows 7 Professional?  I don't think we can get our money back because the packaging is open or I would say just that we trade it for ultimate.  If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.  Also I don't know even where to download vista business or haow only as much as it would cost.  Thanks in advance.

N ° there is no way to go from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional OR Vista business without what you call a 'clean install', so there is no point in spending money to upgrade to Home Premium to business before the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional.  Upgrade Vista Home Premium only allowed on-site is ultimate.

Use Windows Easy Transfer to keep your files and settings.  Then, start the computer with the Windows 7 dvd installation and moving forward.  Do not remove Vista.  Windows 7 upgrade installation should detect a copy installed Windows so that you can use the upgrade product key.  Once you reach the installation type selection screen, you will see the upgrade option is grayed out.  Choose the custom option to continue.

If you want to do a clean install, you can use the tools on the installation type selection screen (until you click on custom) to reformat, etc., but this is not necessary if you don't mind remove the old Windows folder later.  If you start with a blank hard drive your upgrade license will be a problem then don't attempt is not a clean install of the old way.

  • Upgrade Windows Vista Home Edition to Vista Ultimate

I want to upgrade Vista home to Vista Ultimate edition. In my Staples store seller told me that it is no longer available and I have bay Windows 7. but my computer is only 1.5 years old and I don't want to spend additional $ 350. Let me know how can I upgrade to Vista Ultimate.

    Sincerely,

    Max

The cost of the upgrade of Windows Vista Edition Family Premium to Windows Vista Ultimate Edition would have been about the same that the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.  Given that Windows Vista Ultimate Edition is no longer sold through distribution channels, you might as well move to Windows 7 Ultimate. • Upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium with the Professional Windows 7 upgrade software?

I got a deal to get the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade for $ 100, thought that I get it.  Only now I realize that I had Vista Home Premium on my laptop, and so impossible to move to Windows 7 Pro.  I went out and bought the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade today for another $ 100 to upgrade.

Basically, can I use this software to upgrade Windows 7 Professional upgrade the copy of Windows 7 family upgrade that I just bought. If I can do:

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium< windows="" 7="" home="" premium="" upgrade="">< windows="" 7="" professional="">

I hope I explained this correctly.  I don't want to really not get stuck with a copy of Windows 7 Pro upgrade software that I can't do anything with.  Any help would be incredibly useful.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, follow the on-screen Wizard, enter the key to Windows 7 Professional on demand, click on, and then restart your computer when you are prompted. Less than 10 minutes, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and your files and settings retained. Andre Da Costa http://adacosta.spaces.live.com http://www.activewin.com

  • The upgrade of Vista home premium for the company

    Hello

I bought my toshiba satellite and startet to install all my software on it.
I really want to install the version of Vista Enterprise there are many functions that Miss probably with the preinstalled vista home premium.

Does anyone know a way to install without having to reinstall the entire system again?

    Any idea?
    THX.
    sfloehle

Hmm, I assume that you will not need to boot from the CD of Vista Business, but you have to start the DVD of Vista Business running Vista Home Edition.

However, I m not 100% sure, but I guess that it s the same procedure like an update of Win XP Home Pro.

    Best regards

Microsoft sells more than win 7.  You can buy a win 7 pro key from a retailer online such as Amazon.com.  You realize that win 7 support ends next year right?
