Your Inbox is damaged due to become bloated and/or lack of compaction.

1: view | Current view. Show all Messages is verified?

2: If Yes to the #1, see if you have an Inbox.bak file in the Recycle Bin of Windows and if so, what is the date of creation?

3: If Yes to 1 and 2, after the return before doing anything else.

4: If so #1 and not #2, you will need a tool to recover lost messages if you wish.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and rename it to Inboxold.dbx.  A new Inbox will be created automatically when you open OE.

Then you will need a tool to run the Inboxold.dbx file.

DBXtract (Will not retrieve all messages after compaction)

    DBXpress {faster for large files and can retrieve messages after compaction in extract from disk mode}

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. • For some reason, I can't get my Outlook Express to send my emails... they do not connect or send failed

For some reason, I can't get my Outlook Express to send my emails... they do not connect or send failed... what I am doing wrong to cause this... I have used Outlook Express in the past and had no problem with it... Also, how can I know what e-mail programs POP3 or request the program Outlook Express? Could you please clarify this for me, thanks...

I use Windows Live Mail as my regular e-mail address... but I can use a different e-mail to another e-mail program to configure Outlook Express?

Visit the website of your email provider and see if they have instructions to set up an account in Outlook Express.  They provide you with the appropriate settings.   Nobody here knows them, because they are specific to the e-mail provider.  So check with your provider of messaging on the correct settings to use for OE.

  • Adding electronic signature from a file by using outlook express 6

I use Outlook Express 6 for my emails and I'm trying to set up a signature to email when I send emails. I have no problem that when inserting in the text to help: Tools > Options > Signature > and selecting text in the section change Signature, and then by typing the text in French - it works very well.

The problem is, I want to add a signature to a file that has color, different fonts and a logo. I tried to do to help to change Signature, and then click Add files, and then browse to select the file. He refuses to use the file for the signature to e-mail. I tried to save the file as a rich text, web page, pdf, and Word but still get the following message - WARNING: the signature file is not a valid text file. I even tried to copy / paste - still nothing. I'm out of ideas. Please can someone help?

If you can not manually insert it into a new message, you can't have a sig out of it.

Note: The HTML Signatures must be less than 4 KB.

Open a new Message window and create your signature. (Insert the graphic & text). Click on the Source tab (view |) Source Edit if not already checked). Highlight the complete source code and copy / paste into Notepad. File | Save under and in the file name field, save as htm, (i.e. Sig1.htm). It will be saved in My Documents by default. Go to tools | Options | Signatures. Click: File | Browse and insert your saved signature | Apply. You can now rename it if you wish.

Try going to tools | Options in OE and set it as default value for it.  Also in Internet Explorer go to tools | Internet Options | Programs and set as default OE it as well, or click the reset web settings button, if it is present.

  • Company uses Outlook Express

I work from home and I have 'submit' tabs my paperwork, but they require Outlook Express to cross; otherwise, they are sitting in the Outbox (I found this out with my old Windows Vista) ~ there is a free version and the other at the store for $139. 99 ~ what is the difference, and will it work with Windows 7?

They 'sit' in the Outbox likely because you're trying to send with the settings configured for your workplace, that may not work from home.  The outgoing server (used to send emails) is usually blocked unless the user is connected through this email provider, and if not, then will not send messages.  So you must check with the people at work, namely the correct settings to use for when you're not at work.

Otherwise, we know not what you ask and perhaps Bruce's response will help, but more information would be also.

  • Have Wdws XP using Outlook Express. Recently had work on computer. All of a sudden all the old emails deleted coming on Inbox. (Over 2500) Back in early 2010. Electronic mail stops. What is the problem?

I have Wdws XP and using outlook Express.

Work done recently on my computer, and now all the old emails that I had deleted in early 2010 are coming into my Inbox, (over 2500). I guess it is the overload that stops at the email, so I can't receive new messages.

Thases e-mails had been permanently deleted, supposedly. From which they come, and how can I fix it?

You had a frame that says "leave a copy of messages on the server. There is another setting that says "remove when deleting server ', but it was not selected.

Outlook Express knows the messages that he has already recovered, but this information is a lost if you, for example, recreate your e-mail account. Then all messages go down again if they were left on the server.

If the extraction has ceased, it might be because...

one) you forced by cancellation or may be disconnected from the internet (in which case there are more to come), or

    (b) he finished, in which case old emails cannot be retrieved again (unless you are replicating what just happened), all mail must be picked up

To avoid what is happening in the future...

    (a) according to the State of the parameters mentioned above, you may need to delete messages via webmail, and/or

    (b) to change the settings

    To change the settings...

    • Click on tools
    • Click on accounts...
    • Click on the Mail tab
    • Highlight (click) your e-mail account and then click on the properties button
    • Click the Advanced tab

3 background settings are what control the things...

"Leave a copy of messages on the server.

"Remove from server after x days.

"Remove the server after deleting in" deleted items "

Adjust them as see fit you.

  • I use Outlook Express messaging in Windows XP. How can I change the "READING" of West Euro (ISO) (Windows)? (ISO is default, NO selecttion option)

I use Outlook Express messaging in Windows XP. Display Hebrew characters of the name of the sender and the subject? and the body of the message often appears in giberish (I guess it's ASCII). My ' READ' international property is Euro (ISO), West it is grayed and I have no option to Western Euro (Windows), (no drop-down option). My "send " is OK, I had a choice, and it's on (windows).

  • Outlook Express wants to save disk space by compressing the messeges, but I've never used. Why have my messeges?

I have Windows XP Pro and I use a hotmail account that is now Outlook.  I understand that.  I've never used Outlook Express.  When I turn on my computer, I get the message that save space disc can compress old files that it could take some time.  Even if they do not have my messeges, I would like to know how to uninstall it if it takes all of my disk space required on my old computer junkie.  I know that if I log in as an administrator, I can disable access to outlook express, but it is still in place?  This brings me to the question of the cleaning disc. In the cleaning disc, it says that compress files will not remove them.  Is that mean they cannot be deleted?  If this is the case, then will I not compress them?  Should I compress them before as I have remove access to Outlook Express as an administrator?  Thank you.

The prompt for Compact messages is indicated after 100 closures of OE. But as you use it, something else is causing the registry counter display the prompt. My guess is that you should look for Windows installed.

You must tell Windows Search to stop indexing OE.

In the control panel. Indexing Options. Change. Clear the check box for Outlook Express.

If you get the prompt again, let compact to reset the counter. It will not affect your Hotmail/Outlook account and messages. In addition, nothing is too much space. It's just a false alarm.

P.S. The removal of access keeps the prompt to appear.
