  • Folder of documents completely empty after emptying the Recycle Bin. Running Windows Vista Edition Home Premium.

I uploaded several photos from a third party site yesterday. In this process, I make several files which I then recycle once the download is complete. Because I'm uploading about 6 months worth of photos, I decided it would be best to empty the trash when I finished and did. Today, I went to access a Word document, and ALL my files are missing from the Documents folder - it is completely empty. When I try to look for one of the files that I know was in the file, I get a message that says "the point _ that this shortcut refers has been changed or moved, and this shortcut no longer works correctly. You really want to remove this shortcut? "In the research forums, I've seen where this can happen after a trojan/virus. I met said before virus on my laptop, so I know what it looks like at and. I have experienced this on my desk that I currently have the problem with. I ran a full scan, just to be on the right side and found nothing. Any suggestions?

He should not have deleted the documents folder.  System restore must have worked.

Protection system had to be turned on in order to 'restore' .  Directions to do are in the link I listed above about the subject.

  • How do I find/recover a file deleted from a move/replace when the Recycle Bin is bypassed?

Recently, I made a search for particular file template.  The Find dialog box, I selected all files returned by the search and trained in a backup folder.  Unfortunately, there were a few files with the same name and I selected by error "Replace" and the particular file I was interested has been moved or deleted.  I thought I was doing a copy, but the source files have been deleted.  I tried to run several file recovery programs, none of them found the files that have been deleted as a result of this move/replace operation (apparently the Recycle Bin is bypassed for this operation).  I know that the directory they are found, but the program is not all the deleted files in these directories.  Help!

I recreated this scenario in Windows 7 with the same result.  How these files are deleted, and how to find them?

    Hi Jimstaff,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Try to face a return of the folder that contains the files now and then try to restore to a previous version.

Whenever a system restore point is created for your computer, an older version of each file is created. You can try to right click on this particular and select restore to the previous version. You may get different dates, which you can restore back.

Try this if you have restore points created for folders. If this isn't the case, then there is no way how you can recover these files.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Could not find the photos that I restored from the Recycle Bin

    Help, please!

I downloaded a few holiday photo from my camera on my laptop that will new windows.

So some of the photos deleted by mistake I entered the Recycle Bin and restore all items.

Now, I have absolutely no idea where they are! They were originally in my images, but aren't there now (I had disconnected the camera at that time here).

Can anyone help me find these images? Far as I can say that I have not deleted the but hell to know where they are!

    Thank you.

Hi the photos should go to where you deleted them, but obviously not a reason any. You can try looking for them, for example, if they were of type .jpg which, in the area of research, if you see one of your photos in the list, do a right click on it and choose "open file location" to see if that helps.

Here is an article on how to repair a trash corrupted in Vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/131294-recycle-bin-corrupted-cannot-delete-file-folder.html.

It restarts if you left or do a right-click on the icon or both?  Here are a few ways to empty it by using two methods:

    1. On the desktop, right-click on the Recycle Bin.
    2. Then click the Empty trash to empty its contents.
    3. You will be asked if you are sure that before it permanently deletes the files.
    4. If you're absolutely sure, then click Yes to clear the contents of the Recycle Bin.
    5. Alternatively, you can double-click the Recycle Bin to open and examine its contents.
    6. And then on the file menu, click empty the Recycle Bin.
    7. After confirmation, Windows Vista will be empty all files from the Recycle Bin.

Go to control panel / customization / Desktop Icons and remove the trash, click OK and close.  Then go back and add the trash.  See if the new basket has the same problem.

Here is a program that you download that adds a command to empty the trash to the command line if all that you need to do is type of the command in the box search now and it will happen. http://itsvista.com/2007/01/itsvista-tip-23-empty-vistas-recycle-bin-from-the-command-line/.

    I hope this helps.

  • The Recycle Bin icon disappears on my Satellite X 200

    Hi all

I have a laptop Satellite X 200 and Vista as an operating system.

I downloaded an upgrade of the driver (HD DVD) and then install it on my laptop. After that I deleted the directory where I unzipped drivers and amazing, the Recycle BIN ICON has disappeared!

Can anyone help me to restore on the desktop?
    Thank you in advance.

I'm sure that you have accidentally deleted the Recycle Bin icon and you can restore it whenever you want. To do this, go to personalization in Control Panel.

On the left side you will find the option Change desktop icons. Please open and check box in front of the trash option. Go to OK and you will have new bin on the desktop.

    Bye and good luck!
