• SAFE TO RENAME/MOVE FOLDERS IN LIGHTROOM?

  I recently had a few corrupted images (creation date has changed to 31/12/69) and when I spoke with applecare they told me that I got should not rename/move folders in lightroom itself, I should move them using the finder, then lightroom point to them after the fact. is this true? This seems to be an annoying extra step, but I don't want to take any chances. (although could be bc I've renamed the external drive itself, who knows).

  I also move large files my internal drive my drives in lightroom because I like how it removes from inside (source) instead of just copying the most. is it safe or is there a better way?

  Move files and folders of in Lightroom on THE SAME DISC seems to be ok.  Moving files and folders in Lightroom of ONE CAR to ANOTHER could be a problem.  He has had several discussions on lost files from it.  There seems to be a rare and obscure bug that Adobe says they have carefully studied, but can not find.  This has been the case for several versions.  I will move the files on the same drive but would use the technique of "move outside of lightroom/repeat" if I ever moved the files from one disk to another to avoid this bug.

  Is it possible to export preset for Lightroom 4?  I have created custom preset on my laptop and I would like to export and import my desktop if possible.  Did some research online and could not find this link which applies only to the "Presets" in general, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS2A36C507-E076-4b14-AAC3-87852595D175.html.  Please let me know if this is possible or not because it would be a great time saver.

  Predefined are stored in the 'Local adjustment presets' subfolder within the Lightroom settings folder structure. The location of this varies according to the operating system, or if you have "Store Presets with Catalog" checked in your Lightroom preferences (tab presets)... way easier to locate is go to the Presets tab on the Preferences dialog box and click on "Show Lightroom Presets Folder"... which will open a window of Finder/Explorter showing the Lightroom folder. Open that folder, find that the copy the brush and the subfolder Local adjustment presets preset .lrtemplate files on your desktop. Repeat the operation on the desktop to locate the Local adjustment presets folder, then simply copy the predefined inside. They should then display in Lightroom on the desktop (you may need to restart Lightroom first).

  You must move the presets folder for you new machine in order access in Lightroom.

  Copy the folder user preset location: C:\Users\User name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets

  And stick it on the external hard drive to move on to another machine.

  Then, move the folder again to the same place: C:\Users\User name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets

  Restart Lightroom, and then check.

  I have number of presets in Camera Raw I use in the composition of PS. However, I would like to use some of them in Lightroom now for my photography. Is it possible to convert? Camera Raw presets are saved in a file .xmp, while the Lightroom preset to carry the .lrpreset extension. They have similar information, but the formatting is a bit different (the .xmp looks more like an XML file). Any ideas?

  I'm not sure of all the automated options or if there is a whole script, but if you apply the preset in Camera Raw (button does) then update the metadata and preview in Lightroom, you can move to the develop module and save the preset.

  The issue is around the planning unit, is there a planning unit active in operation that I know the mobile features while one is active can be a problem, if there then try to exclude the Member that you are moving.

  Alternatively, the export planning unit, remove the planning unit, move Member, import the planning unit.

  I downloaded presets of Photoserge.com and need to import them into Lightroom CC. The presets are in files with extensions .lrtemplate. How can I import into Lightroom so that they appear in the options of presets in the develop Module?

  Open the Module to develop

  Open the presets Panel,

  Hover the mouse over "user Presets".

  Right-click

  The menu, select [Import]

  Go to the Explorer/Finder to select the FOLDER where the files .lrtemplate, (do NOT select a file!)

  Click [Import]

  You can also click right in the presets Panel to create "new folders" in the Presets.

  You can drag and drop the presets to other places in the presets Panel, such as a new folder.

• Problem with contrastly LR Preset in Lightroom 5.7

  I am admittedly new on Lightroom and presets installation. I downloaded the Winter Wonderland contrastly and presets from the Adobe site street photography. I extract the two ZIP files and copied the root folders in the correct preset folder. I can now see both listed in the pane of Presets, but when I try to expand the Winter Wonderland presets nothing appears. Street photography presets is displayed as expected. I removed and added the Winter Wonderland presets again through the creative cloud desktop application but still have the same question. I am under Lightroom 5.7.1 on Windows 8.

  Sorry for my delay. I think that you have added the entire folder rather than the subfolder containing the presets? Don't forget that he cannot accept ZIPs either.
