I bought a 3 system Windows 7 upgrade and activation failed for the 3rd system. How can I fix it?
I'm fairly certain that only 2 of the improvements have been used to move Windows 7 Vista systems. Now I try with a 3rd system, originally of XP but activation fails.
If you have the 'Family Pack' for Home Premium, its not uncommon for that to happen. Try to activate by phone.

I have the disc for xp that I bought. It has been installed on this computer before. I had to restore the computer and now I can't reinstall xp from the disk.
Hello
· What is the exact error that you are experiencing when you try to install Windows XP on the system?
· You have the full version of the Windows XP operating system or upgrade disk?
· Are doing a clean installation of Windows XP or install an upgrade?
Make sure that the XP CD is not damaged. If you have the upgrade disc you can not make a format installation. You can only switch to the older operating system to windows XP. I suggest you follow the steps mentioned in the article given below to install Windows XP on the system.
How to install or upgrade to Windows XP

I used the Windows 8 Pro Upgrade on a Windoxs XP pro installation. Everything works except that the network and sharing Center indicates that the computer is not connected to a network, but it is. I can files in front on other computers on the network (at home) and I can access the internet. The active profile is public, although it should be private. I created this to access the homegroup during installation.
I'm trying to get a first HD Homerun operation and if Media Center does not have any network, he sees no tuner either.
What can I do to get this working properly.
a. no red X
1. I tried to download a different driver, but it didn't work at all so cancelled. To check if it was a pilot, I bought a usb wireless adapter. I've disabled the ethernet connection and used the wireless connection. The results are the same regardless of which connection I use.
2. ran every convenience store without success
3. services were what they were supposed to be
4 safe mode is worse. No network connection (cannot see other computers in all), although internet is accessible
5 start gives the same results. "You are not connected to a network" yet the computers on the network are visible and accessible top records. Internet is available.
I installed the software very little on this computer (just installed Win 8 last week.)
The only installed software is software HP Officejet L7680, Brother HL5250DN & first Silicon Dust HD Homerun software driver. I'm trying to set up basically as a DVR, so very little will be on it.
The only thing I can think is that I started with the installation of XP has been implemented using a VPN to connect to our network at work. This means that the computer should be part of the field it. Is it possible victory 8 retrieves these settings and now here's what's causing my problems? (I think that very few came from an installation of XP, but I noticed that some parameters met).
I plan to start again and re-installed Win 8 a last ditch effort... If you can offer any suggestions on repairing this conditioin, please provide me with the best way to re - install Win 8 as a clean install (without the things I installed). I'll then make sure that the network is working correctly before installing anything.
*************************************************************************************************************
A follow-up for this reading. My problem was apparently caused by the upgrade of XP and usinging Dungeon files and SETTINGS. Although there are very limited items brought back an installation of XP, something is buried somewhere off network connections.
To solve this problem, Windows 8 has a new feature called reset. This essentially Setup all over again if you choose the option to delete files. You must enter the product key again when you do this. This is a clean install. I had to update the graphics card drivers, add Media Center back, install HD Homerun Prime, run the Advisor of cable, making the TV configuration and finally got it works as I had expected.

After the system restore, the icons do not show on the desktop. How can I fix it?
I uninstalled Google Chrome on computer Dell 1100 from my husband. Shortcuts on the desktop then didn't work. It seemed to me don't forget you must redo shortcuts after a restored system so I tried and the shortcut has not yet opened. Then I did a system restore using 10/07/12 for the date of restoration. After that there is now NOTHING on the screen/desktop other than her photo screen saver. We followed the instructions found online to use the f8, keys, etc., and he has changed nothing. I received the error 0xc0000098. It tells me to insert the windows disk of vista that came with my computer, and when the load cd prompt tells me to repair my computer, I did it or not this result more than once. I can always get on my computer, however and connect to windows vista. However if I don't close my computer property (Hold in the power button until it stops) the message back please help me that I'm not sure what's going on?
Hello
ATAPI.sys is a cable of the controller driver, and it is probably corrupt or be damaged when you stop correctly.
First of all, start to close properly, don't hold simply the power. Do not close properly, it's like running your car into a brick wall to stop. You may be able to restart, but you did damage that could possibly be irreparable.
Second, follow these steps to repair the corrupted file: click on start and type CMD, then right click on the entry that appears in the start menu and choose 'run as administrator '. Click on continue in the UAC prompt. Then, from the command line, run:
sfc/scannow
It will take time to run and do not use the system while it is. Once completed, restart the system and see if the error persists. Good luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Crazy" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org

Here is how to adjust Vista fonts (it apply only to files from Windows Explorer, but for the office and other areas and programs as well):http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-change-font-size. I don't know how to change only the fonts for the files and folders in Windows Explorer. I hope this helps.
