I bought a laptop computer with non-genuine windows 7. I have the original windows xp product key pro, etc. from the bottom of the laptop, but I do not have the windows xp pro cd.  Help me, please!

You will need to either buy a version authentic retail Windows XP, with its key sales, to a true scource or visit the site of laptop manufacturers, support for your model and see what versions of win are taken care of, then buy a commercial version of this o/s.

The key on the base of the laptop is the recovery key that requires that the recovery disks provided by the manufacturer.

You could phone manufacturers to support to see if they have the origonal recovery cd send you, for which it maybe a small fee.

  • Computer saying non-genuine windows, and validation of the needs

I bought my computer from PC World in 2008 with Windows Vista Home Premium installed. After four years, it is not authentic saying of Windows and requires validation. Unfortunately, the label on the bottom of my computer is unreadable and I don't have the box in which I bought it so did not not the Validation Code of the product. I recently had the computer repaired in a store of the local computer. This could be the reason for the message?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Your problem is that, for some reason, the system is unable to properly read the table SLIC in BIOS, what is required in order to triggered the key OEM_SLP with which the computer came installed.

The normal solution is to change the key for that on your COA sticker - but you say that you are unable to read the key here.

In such circumstances, are the only things you can do

    (1) Re-create the license store - in which case it's a minor software problem causing the is

    2) try to update BIOS to the latest available Vista compatible one, since the manufacturer's website

    (3) contact the manufacturer and see if they can provide assistance to correct the SLIC table

    (4) a reformat and reinstall using the manufacturer's recovery media

    (5) purchase of a new license for Windows (or a new computer)

Since it is a 'new' installation, the problem is obviously not #1

    #2 is a possibility--but a rare

#3 is a possibility and worth a try (but can cost $$)

#4 you seem to have already tried.

#5 is the option of last resort. (it costs money!)

It * may * be an alternative solution, if you are patient and persistent.

Attempt to activate by phone and speak to an operator - they will tell you that your current key is locked (they then seek confirmation of your product key). Explain your problem, you must change the key of your sticker, but the thumbnail is unreadable (they could please provide a replacement key?). If all goes well, they will request documentary proof of the sticker, in the form of an e-mail with a picture of the affected tile - and you can proceed from there.

It sometimes takes two or three calls before you get an operator who knows and uses this procedure, but I know that it is possible and happens.

  • Bought a new computer with no phone jack. You want to connect a land line to use the phone.

I recently bought a new computer with no phone jack. I want to connect a landline to him if I can use my phone. Is there a way, or the thing I can buy so it's possible. A usb modem would work in this situation for me?

waylonx3 wrote: Compaq - Presario Desktop model: CQ5600Y

Hello waylonx3, here is the link for the specifications of your system. It shows that your system has 2 slots, PCIe and a PCI slot.

Your system should be able to use one of these modems of type. I would check the motherboard of the system to make sure that you have a PCI slot or available PCIe and then you can order one that will work in your system.

Here is a link to Amazon, where you can see some phone PCIe and PCI modems. They also appear in other places.

  • I bought a new computer with Windows 7 free upgrade. We also have another office.

I bought a new computer with Windows 7 free upgrade. We also have another desktop computer. My son has paid and downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium on this computer (Asus), not knowing that I had the free update. ASUS sent me free upgrade disks. Can I use these on another desktop computer? Or I can download Windows on another desktop computer and transfer my registration to it, and then use the Asus drives on this computer?

Your question has nothing to do with the functionality of Windows Update (vs Windows upgrade), Jan.

That being said, Asus only can answer your specific question. Good luck!

  • Bought a new computer with windows 7. "psc 2210 all-in-one ' will not work with it....

I have a psc 2210 all-in-one printer that I love. I bought a new computer with Windows 7 and I can't make it work. The HP site said that I don't have to download the drivers because windows 7 has already installed, but the main thing is that I can't make it work. Anyone, please help. My printer works perfectly and I can't afford to buy another. (I have a 64 bit)

HP should contribute to this situation. I'm a loyal customer of Hp, but it's ridiculous that they do not create a driver to work with their printers.  All computers are coming with Windows 7.  HP please find a solution!

I could get my HP PSC 2210 all-in-one to print!  I don't know exactly, because I've tried everything I could think of.  My son is a computer on which it has upgraded to windows 7 (64-bit) several months ago - he was able to successfully print on my printer immediately.   I just did an install complete (I bought the full version, not upgrade) to windows 7 (64 bit) - a couple of days and I'm finally to the point where I'm trying to connect printers.  Here is what I tried... again, I tried several things, although I've been in that general area...

connect the printer to the computer

go to the CONTROL PANEL--> Device Manager

Click the arrow to the left of the IMAGING DEVICES (to be developed)

RT click on printer PSC 2200 (should be listed under imaging devices)

    Select PROPERTIES--> DRIVER, then uninstall

Select / tick "remove the driver for the device.

the printer will disappear from the Device Manager (and peripheral Imaging also if it was the only selection)

    Unplug the printer to computer

re - connect the printer to the computer

Device Manager automatically updated (takes a few minutes, the screen refresh let until the yolk! disappears).

Go to the control panel--> devices and printers

Select printer PSC 2200, select Customize your printer, then the printed test page

I hope that you will get a valid test page.  If this is not the case, another option I tried was:

Through the above scenario.  When you get to the step "select PROPERTIES--> DRIVER, then uninstall" Select UNINSTALL directly from this menu (be sure to select/check "remove software pilot")

Continue with the remaining steps above.

I also tried 'Update Driver' of one of the previous screens above... I would like to know if you have a bit of luck!   I'm sorry that's not accurate.  Yet once, I tried everything I could think of, and something finally worked!  (I don't think I tried to 'Turn off the pilot')   Good luck! .........

    Hi Carolina,.

Was it a Dell engineer who has reinstalled Windows for you?

In any case, if this is a Dell machine, there will be that a license key joined the PC somewhere, usually on the back, but if it's a laptop, it'll be below.

  • Malware 'non-genuine windows' shows and other software (Acronis) not said that this is the evaluation version when it is the paid-up version.

I've been running windows 7 64 bit with SP1 and all the updates that are known for 10 months without any problem.  Now, a 'non-genuine windows' malware appear and other software (Acronis) not said this is the evaluation version when it's the fully paid for version.  What should I do to solve this problem.  Rick Rickard

You must read the user final license agreement and you will find that the OEM licenses have restrictions. You need to understand.

If you want to move windows from one computer to another, you need a full commercial license.
This same problem is again this morning on another computer where he runs a real operating system from microsoft, Windows 7 32 bit SP!, more than 4 months.  Today he says that my win 7 op sys is not authentic.  This computer has been customized built so I was the first to install a sys op on it.

  • Standard upgrade to a non-genuine Windows XP?

I did a repair on Win XP installation, used one of several legitimate Win XP Professional CD with one of my several XP license keys.
It was after a physical reconstruction, the new disk, the new config.
This version of windows has failed the genuine validation.
I tried a lot of mods of regedit, different keys;  none worked.
Support says Windows XP is not supported, in addition to advice would cost me $99 and I had to upgrade to a new version of Windows.

    Question:
A standard upgrade of Windows will work on a non-genuine Windows XP in base?
It seems that the 'Get Windows Genuine Online' kit is a clean install, I would rather not rebuild my applications and data.

    Hello

Thanks for choosing Windows and thank you for providing an opportunity to help you.

According to the description, you are having problems with the upgrade.

Run the MGAdiag tool; Copy and paste the full report to analyze the problem.

Unfortunately, a standard upgrade of Windows will not work on a non-genuine Windows XP in base.

Did you use the recovery process HP plant or install using a different operating system disk? If the latter, you need to install the drivers for all your hardware, including drivers for wireless network cards. You will get only the pilot specific support for your laptop model HP Web site tech.

If by "wireless card" you mean that you have a 3G USB modem through your cell phone provider, contact the cell phone provider for help with that. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
