Problem with Vista Home Premium Validation

I bought a laptop HP of Costco comes with Vista Home Premium but now I
Validation code 50.  Invalid license.

Validation of Windows through web just hangs.  The key of product or paper plate
at the base of the laptop is worn out and not readable. I don't want to reformat my drive
or reinstall my software applications.  What is the easiest solution?  The cheapest?

There must be a mistake that is not my fault.  Is it possible to validate my particular
laptop if I provided the results of you and MGA diagnostics validate on your side?

Hello

I suggest you contact HP support for assistance.

  • I have a laptop Lenovo bought in the spring of 2008 running on Vista Home Premium. After years of basically no problem, I got warnings my memory was almost full.

    I have a laptop Lenovo bought in the spring of 2008 running on Vista Home Premium.  After years of basically no problem, I got warnings my memory was almost full.  I'm no computer guy, I'm a retired OTR trucker who now lives for people with disabilities.  I checked my system and found Lenovo had two partitions on the hard drive.  The main logic were my programs were only 30gig on a disk hard 150 gigabytes.

    After talking to some friends who know more then me and research, I copied all my personal files on a stick to 4gig and erased the hard drive.  Spent New Years day adaptation of files, wipe the HD, install Vista again and then 6 and hours of updates.

    Monday, I installed my old files, installed new software and reinstall some of my previous, as well as several updates of Windows.

    Tuesday a finer adjustment and more windows updates.

    Today, Wednesday, right off the bat I installed another Windows update.  Update has been installed, computer shut down, restarted, then the computer stopped at step 1 of 3 @ 97%.  I went for half an hour to come back to an error screen telling me I had a corrupted file and to reinstall Vista and using my factor disc repair system.  I wasn't allowed this option.

    I subsequently through trying different restarts that File:\Windows\system32\winload.exe has been corrupted or damaged or missing Windows update attempt.  Given that I had my Windows disk that I was never worried before making a boot disk.  I/we (family of 6) do not have the financial means to purchase recovery discs, go to a tech help.  We are ourselves.  Can someone help me out here?  Are all my personal details on my laptop, a lot of money and time tied up in programs, I can't access.

    I don't know how this forum works.  My email is * address email is removed from the privacy *.

    P. S.

    With all this, if I have to reinstall windows I better upgrade to a 32-bit on a 64-bit?  This will cause problems with existing programs? I see a noticeable improvement in speed?  I checked and I can't change to 64-bit.

    Hello

    Since you have a Lenovo, you can try to get to WinRE among advanced startup options (f8) and performa than a system restore or if you must organize a drive to install Windows Vista full version and try to perform a system restore in Windows recovery environment and check if that helps.
    For more information, you can consult the following articles:

  • I can't read the SLP COA on my laptop and need to re - install Vista Home Premium

    I have an old Acer Aspire. It came with Vista Home Premium installed. In January, I bought a new HD and installed Windows 7. I don't like it and want to go back to Vista. E problem, it is that the COA sticker is so old that I can't read all the numbers that it burns me upwards I'm trying to be legal here and things are conspiring against me. I can't read 4 characters.

    Hello

    Tips from Microsoft is to contact Acer and ask them a different product key.

    I've never seen Acer a supply.

    And there is no way that we can help you with a different key of product here.

    You can contact Acer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disc Vista for your model

    They will demand the SN: (serial number).

    They should do this for a small fee.

    The risk you run is that Acer has suspended the sale of recovery disc for some of its models.

    How to order the eRecovery discs:

    https://store.Acer.com/store?action=DisplayDataValidationServicePage&locale=en_US&siteid=Acerna

    The relocation method above does not normally allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

    The other thing you could do is to get a flame and the magnifying glass and see if you can read these 4 numbers.

    See you soon.

    I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed.  My plan is to install Win 7 and then move on to Win 10.  I have a new full version of Windows 7 Pro SP1 with an activation key.  I have experience update to Win 10 of Win 7, but worry about the installation of Win 7 over Vista.  I guess I have to do a clean install.  There is no problem to meet the minimum requirements of 10.  Can someone give me some advice on the start-up of the conversion of Win 7?  Just insert the disk?  Everything has been backed up and it's ready to go!  Thank you.

    Since the family migration to Windows Vista Premium to Windows 7 Professional it will install a clean place, why not simply use your Windows 7 Professional product key to perform a custom Windows 10 Pro install from the go?

    Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • I have problems keeping records and files of the administrator and the user separate in my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6700) under Windows Vista Home Premium.

    I have problems separating records and files of the administrator and the user. My computer is a laptop (HP Pavilion dv6700), used as a home computer only by myself, I like to keep the two distinct roles, but am unable to as Vista seems to be considered as one and the same. This scenario has arisen as follows:

    Initially, when I bought the laptop - approx. 18 months back - Windows Vista Home Premium was preinstalled, with the name 'Administrator' as an administrator. To customize the operating system and to use safely, I installed a user 'Renault', as a Standard account user.

    After awhile, I changed the name of the Director of "Renault", for reasons I have can not remember now. This caused Vista to combine folders and files of the two "users" in one, I found difficult to deal with, that I could not operate my laptop as just a Standard user, but is still considered the "administrator." On the one hand, this greatly increased spam in my email accounts. So I tried to reset the name of the administrator as 'Administrator' itself and keep my user name as "Renault", as originally the case.  But Vista me has failed to create a new user under the name "Administrator". So I created a new user under the name "System administrator", with administrative privileges. This has been accepted by Vista.

    But I forgot to change the user account for 'Renault', on the Standard account, so there was BOTH administrator accounts at the same time on my laptop! I realized that now only. The net result was that all the files that I created under the system administrator user were still being displayed under the user account of Renault. A few days back, I realized this and tried to separate the files correctly, but it has not been possible. No matter what I copied the account of the user in the files under the system administrator account, the files have been copied on account of the user himself.

    I tried to fix this by changing the name of the user account in something very different, AND as a Standard user. but this also does not work, as all folders and files under the administrator account system shows it as being under the user account of "Renault" only!

    Then, I deleted the user 'Renault' from the list of the user, but he was not yet of any help. Whenever I tried to create a new file under the system administrator, Vista responds with the message, "C:\user\Rajaram folder is not present. Will I create a new? ", which defeat the same purpose of my tent to isolate the administrator account and the user account.

    SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE WITH A SOLUTION, - OTHER THAN REFORMATTING MY C:\ DISK AND REINSTALL VISTA AGAIN - TO GET OUT OF THIS MESS, IT SEEMS TO ME YOU HAVE CREATED AND HELP ME TO HAVE AN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT AND OTHER UNIQUE STANDARD USER ACCOUNTS PROPERLY ISOLATED.

    I would be always grateful for a quick and helpful response.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your reply. It was very helpful / sorry your proposed solution has not solved my problem. Kind regards. -Rajaram77

    Better to delete the user account except the one that was built in the administrator account that you renamed. Before this backup all your data files of these user accounts.
    Then rename the buil into account administrator as 'administrator '. Then you create another administrator account and use it and never the user built in Administrator account and leave it alone.

  • My 4 year, Dell inspiron 1525 laptop with Vista Home premium preinstalled windows keeps freezing almost as soon as it starts

    about the only way I can do anything, it is to run in SafeMode w / Networking command. When this first happened I thought maybe he had a virus an update of windows at first, so I updated & ran security essentials about 6 times when, which did not find anything, I then tried to install the defenders but could not install said I needed Silverlight installed so I tried to install it but who did not want to install so finally after more than a month of try me several times a day to give me a try. My fiancee and another roommate both said that it had to be a virus. And that one of them fix it since I couldn't.  Then they both tried for a week each so he can not constantly freeze as soon as it would boot up to the windows system screen system restore when I haven't tried had no restore points when I tried this return back.

    And now, it freezes not as quick, but when they did a system restore it says now that I need to reactivate my copy of windows but now here's my new problem when the laptop was sent to a new hard drive that they also gave me a new external case but am not currently able to read my key product code at the top of the bottom of my laptop , And it came with a copy preinstalled and stupid, I didn't find the product key code when I bought the laptop from Best Buys. And they gave me a bundle of discs pack but their was not a code product key on anything.

    Hi tdigiannurio,

    Thanks for posting your questions to answers.microsoft.com

    Here is some information that should help you with this error.

    If you receive the 8007000 b error when you try to install Windows Vista updates, the Windows file system transaction log is damaged. The transaction log is used by the Windows file system to recover when a file error occurs. To correct this error of update, you clear the log. Here's how:

      To clear the file system transaction log

    1.

    Click the Start button. In the Search box, type command prompt, and then, in the list of results, right-click command promptand then click run as administrator.

    2.

    In the command prompt window, type fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\. (This assumes that C: is the drive on which Windows Vista is installed. If Windows is installed on another drive, change the drive accordingly letter.)

    3.

    Restart your computer.

    4.

    Download and install the update again.

    If the problem persists after you follow the steps above, go to the Center of Support Windows Update website to try to find more information about the error code or to request support by e mail.

    Let us know if it helps to address the known issue or if additional assistance is needed.

  • Moving files from office with W98SE laptop with Vista Home Premium

    Hello
    I am struggling to move files from my PC of antique desk whose memory tracks 512meg W98SE via a generic (freebie) stick to my laptop XPS from Dell. The memory stick works.
    I installed a generic USB driver on the old PC, but not deleted my existing usb drivers. Still, the old pc isn't recognizing the memory stick.
    I received a suggestion that i've got FAT16 on old pc so not recognize FAT32 usb key. If I run the utility to change the hard disk from fat16 to fat32 how to avoid the risk of losing valuable pictures of family etc?
    The old PC has only a single read CD rom for backup on cd is not an option.
    Assuming that this forum can provide a solution to save files to the drive c on the memory stick, my Vista laptop will be able to pick up the FAT32 files?
    Here's hoping. Thank you.

    Best solution - pull the hard drive out of the old machine and put it in a USB external hard drive enclosure/adapter. Who join the new Vista machine and simply copy your files on. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
