I can do a second partition without formatting drive c: on win98se

Hello! I have a partition with windows 98se currently installed on it. Is there a utility diskpart for win98se? Or do I need to use a third-party software such as magical separation. I would like to make a second partition on the same physical drive without losing all my data and programs installed especially.

The second hard drive for a clean install of windows xp, I would keep the fat32 for file system.

Thank you

Hello

Download iso and burn to disc cd, GParted live cd link below, GParted works RAM need min 128 MB of ram installed.

http://sourceforge.NET/projects/gparted/

Back up important data and Win 98 Defrag, and then restart the computer and boot from a cd of GParted and reduce the hard disk partition and format in fat32 and then follow the info in my first post

  • Satellite L300D - I can reduce the second partition?

I recently received this new laptop, and I'm happy with it.

However, I am puzzled by the partition available to it. It has a score of 74 GB (c) and a 73 GB partition (E);. C: is the partition with the operating system on and E: has 5 GB of HDDRecovery. I was wondering why this recovery partition is so great, and if it is necessary to have this great.

Should I reduce the minimum 5 GB partition or leave it as it is?

Thank you in advance to all.

    Hello!

The HARD drive on the second partition recovery folder to your laptop factory settings and so it has a capacity of 5 GB. The image in this folder contains the operating system (Vista), all the drivers and tools.
Here's how you can use this option of saving the document a Toshiba:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

So in your case I would not reduce the 5 GB partition.

    Good bye

  • How can I delete second partition?

Hello, I recently created a second partition on my C: drive.  I changed my mind on the installation of a new OS, so now I would like to delete the partition and merge it into a C: drive.  I have to mark the partition as inactive, and now I'm ready to remove it. But when I try to delete or format the partition, I get this message:

Delete is not allowed on the boot volume, system, file, dump on incident or current hibernation.

I understand that this message should appear if I was on the c: partition, but not on the second partition, I created.  How to delete this partition?  Thank you

Thank you for your response.  I found the answer on an accident!  I changed the drive letter and restarted and after that, I was able to delete the partition and extend the main partition to take all the C: drive.  Thank you

  • How can I delete second partition of Windows 8 is not working.

Original title: 2 Options of Windows 8 boot after installation

After the instrall of Windows 8, I find myself with 2 startup options for ' windows 8 '. We work, we do not. How can I delete the one that does not work?

This might help, it might not. I had an additional option of Windows 8 start after the installation of Win8 Pro Dev preview. I even formatted my drive (I have 2 disk for Win8) first and always happens.

First, run Disk Cleanup and clean up system files. This could find older versions of windows to be deleted.

I found the extra startup option by running 'msconfig' and selecting the tab "boot" by selecting the extra startup option and pressing 'delete' this problem for me solved.

  • How can I delete a partition on my drive for example the "D" drive so I only have a C drive and also the amount of space between the partion everything goes back to the drive C th?

SP3. I tried command prompt and the interface of windows, but this only removed the drive no transfer space drive as well. I formatted the partition first thus.

Cannot be done with the native tools of Windows XP.  You need a 3rd party disk partitioning tool.

Here are some that should work (I've not used personally each of them).  Read the manual.

    Easeus Partition Master Home (free)
    O & O Partition Manager
    Acronis Disk Director Home
    Partition Wizard Home (free)

I want to upgrade XP to 7. My machine got a C: and an onboard hard drive D:. (as well as a lot of CPU power) If I move all critical files on my D: drive, if they are not disturbed during installation of Windows 7 or what must I drag in a remote entity prior to completing the upgrade?

I suggest you to move all of the critical files the D drive that won't cause any disruption during installation of Windows 7, so the installation would take on the C: drive

  • Qosmio G20: How to repair Windows without formatting?

    Hello
I have a qosmio G20 bought in October 2005. I need to repair my OS. The CD/DVD provided with the Windows XP MCE do not provide an option 'fix' as one provided when you buy a copy of Windows. How can I repair my OS without format my laptop?

Thanks in advance for your kind cooperation

    Antonis

The supplied restore CD does not contain the repair console because it s not an original Windows CD. The restore CD contains only an image of the files. Don't mix it with the CD of Microsoft!

To get into the repair console, you will need the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
I also read on the Microsoft site that it of possible to download the repair on 6 discs FDD console. Then you could boot from this drive FDD and you might be able to get into the repair console. But I have never tested this procedure.

I found this useful MS document also how to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

  • Can I delete all partitions and leave only the BONES? What are the implications?

    Hi all!

I just bought a HP Pavilion desktop computer and I want to create a primary partition to install Linux and another to store my files, but I can have only 4 partitions on a drive, and the HP Pavilion comes with 3 partitions already.

So, I think that the only partition required for Windows 7 is the appointed a "BONE", right?

I imagine that if I delete the SYSTEM and HP_RECOVERY partitions? Windows will always start after I remove them?

(I'm more worried about this SYSTEM partition... What is it anyway?)

    Thank you!

OK, I was able to create 2 extended partitions and do what I wanted without having to remove anything... Thanks anyway!

  • Satellite L350 - want to reinstall Vista without touching the second partition

    Hi all

I want to reinstall Vista without touching the second partition that is full of data.
I'll be able to do with this procedure? http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm#

The confusing part is when it says in the explanation that the * entire hard drive * will be formatted (step 2) but on one of the photos, it is written that only data on C: will be erased.
I have Satellite L350, and the hard drive recovery process is the same as on the connected tutorial before (I'm not completely obviously)

    Hi amigo

I tested its operation, and from my experience, I can confirm that when you use the HDD recovery procedure as described in the Toshiba document all data saved on the second partition won t be deleted.

Only if you are using recovery DVD (please create a) will be formatted the whole HARD disk.

  • Satellite A200-237: Visat Installation without formatting the two partitions

Yesterday, I installed Windws Vista and all other software for my Satellite A200-237.
A has 2 partition of my drive hard C and E.

I used E for my files just like I did with my computer laptop formar.
And when I installed windws xp that I formatted only C and E remained as it was, so I've always had my files on my laptop. I did the same with my formatted partition C AND e. visat toshiba and vista and unfortunately I lost all my files and I now have the partition C and F instead of C and E.

Is it possible (for the next time I re install vista and format the hard disk) without format my second partition?
Is this possible or do I really have a second HD?

I do not remember Vista asking me what partition I want to format and with XP, I had that choice.
    Help, please.

    Hello

Well. Usually it of possible, but only by using the original CD of Windows Vista.
Then, you choose the partition where the operating system must be installed.

Using the recovery CD all partitions will be deleted simply said; the recovery CD formats the entire HARD drive and you will lose all the data stored on the partitions

You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.

    Hello Petervn,

    1. What are the operating systems you have installed on other drives?

Ideally you can format readers that you dΘmarrez not create a disk space. Since you have Vista installed on the C drive, it would not effect if you partition the other readers. However, you may need to do at your own risk. I suggest that you back up all data and create a system image on your computer before formatting the other readers.
