I can now explore and see the files, but cannot view__application data, cookies, files "local settings."

I get an access denied message.  I need to change the permissions,

but don't know how or where to do this.

Help, please.

If you hear information in your profile, then these intentially access files are rejected if the user cannot cause any harm.  However, if you want to get for them anyway, then right click on the folder to which you are denied access (this operation on your username folder can do the trick for all or most of them, but I'm not sure if just those that you need access to).  Click Properties and then click the Security tab.  If your name is included click Edit and change it to full right (if not add your username and give it all the rights).  Don't forget to check the box to apply the change to all files and subdirectories as well.  Click Advanced, and then do the same in the special permissions section in the bottom half.  Once this is done, you should be able to access this folder and everything within it.

Here is some additional information about permissions and ownership may be useful here or in the future:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

  • Can we load and unload the files in the run time?

Can we load and unload the files in the run time?

For example, there are four files named 'test1.h & test1.c' and another series 'test2.h & test2.c' (I have attached as an attachment to this post).

    test1.h contains the code:

int variable; variable declared as integer

    test1.c contains the code:

    variable = 1; variable a value assigned

    test1.h contains the code:

char * variable. variable declared as string

    test1.c contains the code:

variable = "EXAMPLE"; a string that is assigned to variable

So here, in this case can I dynamically load / unload first & second group files so that the same variable "variable" name can be used as an integer and string? And if so, how to do?

    Hi pa1majeti,

You cannot simply consider that some code is loaded into memory or not: all code in a compiled application is permanently in memory unless you divide your application into DLLs that you dynamically load if necessary and remove if is no longer necessary.

But as I understand from your description, you're better given the amount of memory occupied by the data (i.e. the contents of the variables) rather than the code. If this is the case, your only option is to allocate memory for variables dynamically and free it after it has been used. Now, even if this option is useful if you are using large networks of data, there is little or no effect on the unique variables.

A final Council, given the huge memory installed on modern computers, are you sure you really need that extra work? I mean, the dynamic allocation of memory involves some additional precautions in programming: check the errors on each function malloc or calloc, check that the pointer is valid before each use, freeing pointers before reassignment in order to avoid memory leaks and so forth, so a balance must always be sought between the memory and the difficulty in programming.

    Hello locness2411,

Have you checked your download folder? Also you can put where you want to save a file to the desktop as, for example. Take a look at these links: http://www.tweaklibrary.com/Software_Applications/Internet-Explorer/27/Set-default-download-path-of-Internet-Explorer/10153/ or http://www.windowsreference.com/internet-explorer/how-to-change-the-default-download-directory-for-internet-explorer/ that can help you in what you want to change. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

  • Can I include a signature hosted on a remote server, create the signature in Tunderbird and store the file locally?

I want to insert a signature that I hosted on a web server without having to create and save the local html file on my computer, is it possible? I know that I can insert a picture from a web server as part of my signature, which is not what I'm asking. Is there an add-on or anything else that can help me to insert my signature from a web server directly, without having to host the file locally?

You do not have to store the signature on your computer, but Thunderbird will not bind to a text or HTML signature on a remote server file.

Thunderbird is waiting for you to provide a simple signature to provide the URL to the 'IMAGE' stored on the remote server and this link should be included in Thunderbird, if not how to be referenced in the message?

You can always include a link to the text that is stored remotely or a HTML signature in your message, but the recipient will activate it? Once again this link would be stored in the message

  • File/folder preserved but can still edit and save the file

    Nice day

I just want to ask how to protect a file/folder on Windows 7 from deletion, but I can still edit and save to the same file... (the file/folder is shared on other computers)...
    Thanks in advance...
    Lorenz

You can go in the advanced security settings and explicitly deny file record all users "deleting subfolders and files" and "Remove" permissions, make sure that you propagate permissions to all child objects.  But, as mentioned by another poster, if users can change the files they can damage or save them as empty files.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community.

Want to know if there is an application that can decompress the files automatically after downloading.

Microsoft has no such a request. You can use your favorite search engine to search for third-party software that could help you to extract the files automatically.

NOTE: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • My laptop crashed. I have the disc (intact). How can I find and move the files to the Inbox (not local folders) of my three accounts to the new pop3 computer laptop?

Old laptop had Thunderbird. The laptop no longer works, so I took the drive C (SATA drive) and and which plugged into a USB port.

New laptop has installed Thunderbird local folders have been restored. The contents of the Inbox is missing (I use the option ' download server ", so the recent correspondence is here.)

I have three POP3 accounts, so I will try to identify the location of three separate "inbox" and "Sent" folders and add them to the new facility.

Where the files are stored, and what would be the easy way to get back them on the new laptop?

It would be great if there is a more fluid way for disaster recovery.

You could have copied the whole profile and do with it.
To create backups, you should also back up the entire profile.

  • When travel abroad (overseas) and use the WIFI, I can get incoming emails and browse the web, but cannot send emails.

If I can find the SMTP that is used by the hotel, I can simply change my outgoing SMTP accordingly. But invariably, they do not understand the issue and unless I can find the outgoing SMTP, I'm unable to send.

Is it possible to automatically pick up the SMTP Protocol out of the WIFI service that I use? How can I change my settings to do this?

No, there is no easy way to do it, because the SMTP settings are often specific to the provider.  What you might try is to contact your local ISP and see if they can give you an option to send when you are not connected to them.  In addition, you can use webmail to access and send e-mail.  If your ISP doesn't have this option, there are several free accounts or cheap you can register for (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc.).

  • From high-speed wireless broadband with a cable modem, and shows the connection, but cannot access the web w / IE8

I have Windows Vista, IE 8 and labtop HP Pavilion. I had just recently Cricket Wireless Broadband, with a USB wireless modem. I now have the Charter/Comcast broadband through my cable. The modem is connected to my PC via the Ethernet port. On the connection icon on the toolbar on the right down, it shows that I am connected. The "Local Area Connection Status" in the network and sharing Center seems to be connected, since bytes are sent and received.

However, when I'm on IE8, it acts as if there is no connection. Not being able to view the web page. Also, now when I go to a local WiFi hotspot, I can't connect to a network, just as I always, and it shows that there is a link, however, it won't let me access the internet. It used to work, before everything first, I connected the cable modem.

    Any ideas? Thank you!!

    JFerguson15,

If the Cricket connection works correctly but your cable connection is not, which suggests the computer is set up correctly and the problem is with the cable connection. All other systems are able to connect through the connection of the Charter? If this isn't the case, please contact Charter and see if they are able to determine the issue on their end or help you reconfigure the modem.

  • After the upgrade, I can go back and delete the file "Setup" from the previous installation to update Firefox, or are they "linked" to another in order to launch?

One of my Office files contains three different Firefox configuration files created for upgrade to newer versions. These precedents may "Setup" deleted files without affecting the latest version I am running?

And the question of succession: immediately after the installation of a new version, this "Setup" file can be deleted?

A "Setup" of Firefox is not necessary once Firefox is installed. So yes, all files "setup" of Firefox can be removed.
