  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  Search for interference antivirus (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).  Then go to file | Identities and establish a new identity.  Add your email account and see if it works very well.  If so, you can go to file | Import | Messages to bring them from the old identity.

  Then, if you lost messages, check the trash and the message of the old identity store bak files that are backups of dbx files that you can retrieve (see point 2 on the page above).  If there is no bak file, then my DBXpress program (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) has an excerpt from disc feature that will analyze the entire hard drive for messages and if they are still there, it will recover them.

  IE has nothing to do with OE in this regard. If the problem is intermittent, I suspect a problem with your modem, router or ISP. Reset the modem and the router, if you use one, and if that doesn't help, get help from Onetel on line and have them check the signal of your modem.

  • POP3 is not a hostname.
  • POP3 is not an account name.
  • POP3 is not a server name.

  You need get account from your ISP/Mail Server settings.

  If you tell us who is your server (which is after the @ in your address) we may be able to point you in the right direction.

  No, there is no easy way to do it, because the SMTP settings are often specific to the provider.  What you might try is to contact your local ISP and see if they can give you an option to send when you are not connected to them.  In addition, you can use webmail to access and send e-mail.  If your ISP doesn't have this option, there are several free accounts or cheap you can register for (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc.).

  The only thing I changed on my PC recently is IE - updated to IE8.
  I don't know if that's related to this problem. I use Outlook Express 6 occasionally for sending email, so I don't know whether or not this problem started when I upgraded to IE8. My ISP is MSN.

  Try to use port 587 for the outgoing server, ensuring that 'this server requires a secure connection' is checked.

  Have a few email addresses for different website that I own.

  They are on different hosts in the United Kingdom and the United States.

  I did have a problem with receiving or sending emails using outlook 2007 via these addresses with my setup current over the last 4 years in many different countries, European and Asian.

  I'm in Australia, using a via Bigpond wireless connection, I can receive emails from all my usual account, but cannot send an email using one of my addresses using outlook.

  When I test the settings, I get the following error:

  Send a test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your server for outgoing (SMTP) mail. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or the ISP (ISP).

  I contacted Bigpond (ISP) and they stated that as I can connect to the internet and receive emails the problem with not with them.

  Many Internet service providers don't allow you to connect to their mail servers unless you are on their network.  If you are not using a Bigpond network connection but tries to connect to the Bigpond mail server and uses the standard port 25 of the SMTP outgoing server, then this is probably your problem.  Usually, is authenticating with the server coming out and using a protected port 465 or 587 is required.  Authenticate you on the outgoing server and uses one port other than 25?

  I can't receive my emails on Outlook Express. I hit send/receive on my Inbox, it then starts showing that there are 19 messages and the green line begins through and then the error indicator comes up with the following: when I hit send/receive I get a box that says: an unknown error has occurred.   I kept the O/E email in a folder called Outlook Express under My Documents.  As a first step, I would go to this folder and all emails would be there.  Now when I go into My Documents and pull the top of Outlook Express, I get a folder icon that I used to get and an icon for a shortcut to O/E.  When I opened the folder icon that it switches me to the short cut and when I open this file, it activates automatically the me to my current O/E implemented.  I don't know or I don't know what happened to all the files that I saved to the new local folder.  They disappeared for some reason any.  HELP AGAIN!

   

   

  How exactly did you move messages to a folder in My Documents? I wanted to move to a local folder in OE, not a Windows folder.
