I can receive but can't send emails
I have an Air of IPad and IPhone 6. Both have iOS 9.3.1. I have 2 email on both accounts: one works very well. But the other, BTInternet, I can receive but not send emails from a device because "your user name or password are incorrect. However, I can send and receive emails from this account on my computer. I tried to change password and the removal and reinstallation of the BTInternet account without success. BTInternet says there is a problem with Apple devices and they can help. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your user name and password are there.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, calendar > e-mail > account > outgoing mail server - tap the name of the server next to SMTP check in the main server and make sure that your user name and password are entered and exact - even if it says that the password is optional.

I have a macbook of El Capitan and my first day on vacation to halfway around the world, I can receive but not send emails. I had a conversation with my provider and all the settings, usernames and passwords are correct. I tried everything I read so far related to this topic from Apple and I can not send. Any other suggestions?
What happened to me several times over the years, as different local networks may not connect in order to SEND email but without reception problems.
My solution is to always use the WEBMAIL service belonging to the service of your email provider... be it Apple or Blueyonder, or anyone.
Occasionally, a national internet service - for example; the Sultanate of Oman, in my experience - can refuse to deal with mail because the discussion on a particular topic is not permitted in the jurisdiction of that country, but it is very rarely the problem. Try just using the webmail online pages - for example; webmail service to iCloud in the case of an Apple (.mac, .me, .icloud) email address - and who usually works for me, anyway.

I can receive emails, but cannot send suddenly.
I can receive emails, but cannot send suddenly. I get a message of rejected authentication. It seems to have started after I upgraded to El Capitan. At that point, I lost all my mails, but they reappeared a few weeks later. Why I can't send emails? Once I put them in a folder I can't access it from Xfinity so I can't answer.
Use the Mail connection doctor to make sure that your SMTP server settings are correct.
SMTP means Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, but if you want an easy way to remember what he does - send messages to people.
Mail (El Capitan): Use the connection doctor
You can try to use the e-mail search tool to check the correct e-mail settings. E-mail service providers change their settings without talking to Apple for the Apple software may be updated.
https://www.Apple.com/support/mail-settings-lookup/
If Apple does not settings from your e-mail service provider, this means that your email service provider did not give them to Apple. If this is the case, you will need to contact them and ask for the correct SMTP server settings.

I can receive emails, but cannot send on my dell mini that I use when traveling. My internet provider (and that of the hotel) said that there
"coming out of email corruption ' ' and must be repaired. HelpOn the road, most of the providers are blocking SMTP Port 25. Frontiernet is no different.Note that this completely mentions authentication. I would put Frontier and make sure the SMTP port, you need to use. Once changed, it will work in the home and on the road. -

I can receive emails via outlook but cannot send
Have a few email addresses for different website that I own.
They are on different hosts in the United Kingdom and the United States.
I did have a problem with receiving or sending emails using outlook 2007 via these addresses with my setup current over the last 4 years in many different countries, European and Asian.
I'm in Australia, using a via Bigpond wireless connection, I can receive emails from all my usual account, but cannot send an email using one of my addresses using outlook.
When I test the settings, I get the following error:
Send a test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your server for outgoing (SMTP) mail. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or the ISP (ISP).
I contacted Bigpond (ISP) and they stated that as I can connect to the internet and receive emails the problem with not with them.
I would be very grateful for any help, thanks in advance
Jeff
Many Internet service providers don't allow you to connect to their mail servers unless you are on their network. If you are not using a Bigpond network connection but tries to connect to the Bigpond mail server and uses the standard port 25 of the SMTP outgoing server, then this is probably your problem. Usually, is authenticating with the server coming out and using a protected port 465 or 587 is required. Authenticate you on the outgoing server and uses one port other than 25?
