I can't access a Web site even if I am connected to the Internet
I went to www.pearsonsuccessnet.com to access a book of Texas history. When I signed in and clicked on the link that would pop-up the book he told me that he could not access this Web site. I tried troubleshooting and finished by asking this question. Is someone can shine some light on this situation.

Can't access some Web sites. Internet is to slow down, it won't work
Original title: can't access some Web sites.
I have a problem with one of the computers on my network.
Some Web sites will not load on one of the computers (although on all others). The behavior is either it load so slow that it does not (speedtest.net) or it expires entirely (skype.com). This problem persisted for several months (it is one of the computers of my colleague and I administer the network and machines in our office).
I checked things:
1. this problem occurs in IE, Chrome and FireFox
2. it does not occur if I use a web proxy such as hide.me
3. it is persistent even in SafeMode with network.
4. ipconfig/all parameters are the same between this machine and the other without a problem.
5. the problem with Windows Firewall disabled.
6 ipconfig/flushdns does not solve the problem.
7. no viruses or malware were found.
8. on those ping timeout works very well (skype.com with ~ 140ms)
I'm really running out of things I can think beyond trying to reinstall Windows, but I prefer not to do so. Are there possible ideas?
Hi Nerratt,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft community.
This problem can occur because of corrupted system files or settings or due to conflicts between the third-party applications.

I suggest you run Internet Explorer in no Add-ons mode and check if it helps, here are the steps:
1. click Start, and then type Internet Explorer in the box to start the search.
2 click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Internet Explorer opens without Add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins.
3 test Internet Explorer to verify that it works correctly.

Original title: access to the problem Web pages
I recently got roadrunner as my Internet service provider. I'm unable to access any Web site other than the home pages of MSN & Yahoo. When I try to access any other nested web site (i.e. Favorites) I get a can't connect message. According to roadrunner, it's a problem of mircosoft software as their cheque for their system shows no problem. Someone can help or should I get another ISP.
Oh yes, I also have a hotspot to verizon as a secondary ability that I can use without any problems.
Hello
Please join Microsoft Community where you can find the necessary information on Microsoft products!
You can not access the Web sites other than the home pages of MSN and Yahoo.
1. What is the exact error message you get?
2. what browser do you use?
3. what version of operating system do you use?
4 did you do changes on the computer before the show?
If you use Internet Explorer, while the issue may be due to some modules or settings. To check, I suggest you to refer to the section I can access some websites, but not all in the site:

I get requests to update for firefox 7.01: if I try Firefox shows me a screen in which it tries to connect to the server to update (during business hours) even if I am connected to the internet: I am able to browse with firefox. I also downloaded firefox 9 but first I can't open it: "there is already a version of firefox open. Second: This version also asked me to update, but still the same problem. I'm new with mac, please help...
Greetz
If he has problems with the update or the permissions then simpler is to download the full version and trash the version currently installed to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the file on the desktop disk image (dmg)
- Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the present application Firefox to do a clean (re-) install
- Install the new version you downloaded
Your profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you will not lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re) install Firefox.

My Firefox don't surf the Internet, even though I am connected to the Internet.
Excuse me, but my Firefox 3.6 just randomly stopped working. It wont let me not browse the Internet more - it still gives me the error message is "Unable to connect", even if I am connected to the Internet. Earlier I open Safari and Internet Explorer 9 - both, in which, allow me to browse the Internet, and I had a complete connection. But, whenever I use Firefox now, it said 'unable to connect '. And whenever I type in a URL on it, Firefox gives me the SAME error message. I don't know what to do now. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it does the same thing. So now I'm stuck with using Safari, when I really want to use my Firefox. Why would he do that?
Make sure that you do not appear to work offline in the file menu.
It is possible that your connection has been interrupted, even briefly, more so if using wireless. Make sure that Firefox is not set on "[v] work offline" in the file menu just above output.
By default, Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 will automatically use offline mode if there is no network connection. Under certain conditions, after the connection is restored, it can stay in offline mode, without the user's knowledge. Firefox 4 and newer prevents this behavior by default. To prevent this behavior in versions 3.5 and 3.6, add an entry to the topic: config options, as follows.
* Type about:config in Location (address) bar * Right-click on the about:config page to open the right-click context menu and use "New > Boolean" to create a new Boolean preference. Name: network.manage-offline-status. Value: false

Hello
Very rare problem. My first thought was a virus or malware but I searched a bit and found a solution.
You need to go to Device Manager and should remove the Ethernet device in the list. The reset the laptop and let XP Reinstall the device.
After that, clients should run Windows Update correctly. After Windows Update try to access the Web sites again.
Good bye

Network icon shows no internet access, even if I am connected to the Internet
I have a dell inspiron 15 r 5521 with windows 8 os (c) Microsoft Corporation 2012.
In our college after joining the network local network we must go to the website of the computer center and connect through his id and password. After that only we have access to the internet. But even after access the internet icon shows without internet access. I can't use my apps windows for this reason. In the windows of another 8.1, it shows internet access.
Hi Naman,
- Do you have an error message when you try to connect to the Internet?
- Are you able to connect to other networks?
- Did you recent hardware or changes to the software to the computer before the show?
I suggest you contact the administrator of system network College if the problem only occurs when you try to connect to the College network.
You can also publish the application on the TechNet forums if the computer is connected to the domain.
http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/category/w8itpro
You can refer to the suggestion that I have provided from the link next if you are unable to connect to any network.
I hope this helps.
Please report if the problem persists and we will be happy to help you further.

Why can't access any Web site for two days? Ken
For 2 days I get the message "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server...". "This happens with any web site, and it's frustrating.
Internet Explorer works on this computer, but I do not like.
One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.
Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

Reported popup web site tries to access Firefox (don't remember exact message); available buttons: allow once, allow, block; has chosen the block (I selected allow once before, but that seemed to be a bad idea). After that, I get "Unable to connect" no matter where I go. You had to use IE to join of Mozilla.org. Firefox update did not help. Troubleshooting procedure did not help.
Hello, this looks like a problem with your security/firewall software blocking the new versions of firefox. If please delete all the rules of the program for firefox to your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

When I enter a web site in the address bar, he did a search on google, which is very inconvenient. I did research and discovered that I should enter ' subject: config ' and change preferences. The problem is that when I enter "subject: config ' I just do another search in Google and can't change preferences.
This has happened
Each time Firefox opened
Is a long time ago
Make sure that you type in the address bar and not in the Google search bar.
- Make sure you have the "Navigation toolbar" and the "Personal bar" visible: "view > toolbars".
- Is he missing elements then see if you can find them in the window "view > toolbars > customize.
- If you see the item in the window customize then bring her back in the window, customize one of the toolbars.
- So, in "view > toolbars > customize", you do not see this item and then click the button "Restore Default Set.
