I can't connect to wireless internet with windows vista

I bought a new HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with Windows Vista and I tried to connect to the internet from my laptop via router ADSL2 + wireless D-link but my network is not visible wireless.

I tried to plug my ether cable and this time my network was visible, but it would not connect.

I am able to connect from another laptop with windows XP wireless through the same router.

My HP laptop connects via WiFi in other places, but not at home via D-link router.

I am not able to connect to internet from my laptop HP since I bought it 9 months ago.

What can possibly be the reason? Can you help me connect to the internet?

Thank you

It seems that your settings are not correct for the access provider or router (or both).  I suggest that you contact your ISP and have them walk you step by step in the process of installation and configuration and do not let them off the coast of the Nigerian line you have a good connection, as you wish.  They know that the parameters so that we don't have, so they can help you better than we can, and I'm sure they will be happy to do.

Between these three articles and assisancce by your ISP, you should be running without delay.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

    Hello

I tried everything above without result.  However, I managed to reinstall my wireless router software after having repaired my DVD driver software.  I restarted my computer and Wireless does not work.  Reinstalled the software new and restarted the computer, and then after a short period of time the computer connected to wireless internet!  Not know not why the remedy has been delayed or why it did not work after the first attempt, but it connects wireless now - what I know is that this problem occurred after an update of Windows, it's a shame that Microsoft failed to address this problem as it was their update it as many other people have also claimed.

  • No wireless internet with Windows XP

    Hello everyone,

I installed Windows XP SP2 on a Toshiba Satellite 300 originally shipped with Vista. I installed the drivers I found on the Web site, including the update of the BIOS that made me screw up everything and me forced to restart from the beginning. There the 2nd time I avoided the update of the BIOS and everything seems to work fine, except that I can not connect to wireless internet.

My suspicion is that I might have missed something. So I would know how you usually do to make a wireless connection. If someone could describe the procedure, it would be a great help.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mario

Have you updated the WLAN driver?
You can find it on the Toshiba site or portal driver WLAN:

  • I can ONLY connect to the internet with IE7 and Outlook Express

I have Win XP SP3, home wired network, Netgear router, cable internet, Lenovo desktop.
I can run IE 7 and Outlook Express and connect to the internet very well with these.  However, I can not connect using FireFox.  Windows Update returns an error and does NOT connect to scan my computer and display the necessary updates.  I just installed tax program this year HR CD block and it is unable to connect to internet to download the updates.  I used IE7 to go to the web site of the tax program to download the update manually, but it doesn't connect either.  I also can't complete installation OF Adobe (Digital Editions) program because it must connect to the internet in order to make a registration.

I have disabled the Windows Firewall, do not have a configured proxy.  So, I can browse the internet with IE7 and get email with Outlook express.  I went on the site from Google Chrome to try to download it and install it that (using IE7 of course), but after I press the "Download" button, IE7 says that it cannot connect to perform the download.

I scanned this forum and not seen similar symptoms that would allow me to reach a solution.  Everyone knows about this issue and how to resolve?

P.S. I have two other laptops Win XP which CAN completely connect to internet with IE and Firefox via the same router and the modem cable.

I tried trojan remover and none of the things in the menu utils found any problems.

But it turns out that my problem was a hidden/partial copy of Symantec Client Firewall that I thought was deleted.  Over the months some programs had been updated and Symantec didn't know about them, so it was blocking their access: FROM Adobe, HR Block, IE8, Firefox, etc.  Given that I have not seen it listed in the start menu and it was not listed in Add/Remove Programs, I didn't have to try to remove it.  And it was not poping up to tell me of a new program attempts to access the Internet.

I used the Symantec tool to remove all THE stuff of Symantec and it cleared up my connection problems.  I then reinstalled Symantec Client Security (antivirus and firewall) and turned off the Windows Firewall.

    Hello

I would try to run a system restore to see if that helps.  If you have Norton installed, follow step 2 first on the link below.

    http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docURL=20091112171719EN&LN=en_US

I currently have an old computer with windows Millennium Edition. The d-link utility seems to go well, it is said that I am connected, but something is it prevents entry into the internet. Any ideas? Please, please help!

    Hello

A message in the small window that says connected wireless does not mean that you really have a valid functional connection.

Above everything is OK, you must be able to connect to the wireless router. (WIFI hotspot).

Connection to the router means that you can enter the IP of the router base in an address bar in one go, being able to connect and configure the router menus see.

If it will not connect to your wireless router, journal newspaper from any computer that can connect to the router wirelessly with a wire, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless SSID broadcast is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security.

Enable security wireless after you eat to make a functional connection.

  • State of connection system tray icon incorrect or choosing bad network connection when it is connected to the internet with Windows 7.

    Hello people,

My Network icon always shows that I'm connected wireless.

If I disable my wireless, it becomes the symbol of ethernet.

As soon as I turn on my wireless, the wireless icon appears once again!

    I am running Windows 7.

My reports of cable 1 GB/s network

My reports 65 MB/s wireless network

Windows 7 allows you to select the slower wireless network that should not be the case.

Under network connections, select advanced and advanced settings

and change in order to make sure that the connection to the local network was the first.

I've updated my card driver to the latest version of the software. I also uninstalled and reinstalled all network cards with all necessary reboots of the PC.

Under properties of the connection to the network Local and the properties of the wireless connection

I chose properties IPV4 & IPV6, advanced and set the ethernet connection for the metric of the interface of 10 and the wireless to a metric of the interface of 25.

    I did too...

In the device-> network-> adapter Manager Intel Wireless-> properties-> tab power management-> uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Windows always selects the slower network ignoring the manual settings...

He has never done this since yesterday. Please help me.

In short, when the wired connection is used, the ETHERNET ICON must be on the system tray, and not on the Wireless ICON even if both are activated. This was the case for me two days ago.

I don't know what to tell you. In my (wide as technician) experience, when there are two a Wi - Fi and connection the icon always shows the bars wireless.  Your computer seems to be an exception that I can't explain.
