I can't disconnect or change user account after update vista Home premium SP2

Acer e380 with vista home premium 32 bit OS 3 G of Ram
After the SP2 update successful that I don't then log off user accounts or to switch between user accounts

When I choose logout of the system never disconnects, and I have to hard start
When I chose to change username the same thing happen it never disconnects and I have to hard start

I can access my different user accounts when restarting individually well but is not a viable solution as long as switching user accounts and logout worked just find before the SP2 update

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. Chances are that the "remains" of Norton here is your troublemaker.

ACTIONS

[You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. IMPORTANT => NO SKIP & perform all the steps in a 1 uninterrupted session!  [If a step said to restart, restart! ]

1 right-click on the link, select SAVE TARGET as.... & download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

3 uninstall Norton Security Suite [or keep constant Protection Suite if you are a Subscriber Xfinity] and LiveUpdate and start any Norton Add ons via | Control Panel | Programs: Programs and features.

4 IMPORTANT! -Online make sure that the Windows Firewall is activated immediately after the reboot!  [Should be automatic, but I want you to check again.]

NB: Now you're "working without a net": do not to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation reading E-mail; cat) until you have finished step #8 below!

5. right click on the file that you saved in #1 above and select run as administrator to run the utility, and then reboot again.

6. OPTION A: do a clean install of Norton Security Suite [or keep constant Protection Suite]; Follow all the instructions.

NOTE: Do not activate or install Norton modules or toolbars (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

OPTION (highly recommended) B: Install Microsoft Security Essentials (also free but MUCH more reliable & less annoying).

-Online do NOT install applications as well !<>

7. If you take OPTION A to #6, manually & repeatedly run LiveUpdate (Norton) until you get a "not more than updated" or similar prompt.  Otherwise, skip this step.

8. right click on the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop: http://iefaq.info/attachments/133/ie8-rereg.zip [1]

Note: Good for IE9 & IE7, too.

8B. do a right-click on the file downloaded in # 8 a above (that is, ie8 - rereg.zip) and EXTRACT its contents to the desktop. This will create a new folder on your desktop named ie8-rereg.

8. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the task bar), open the new folder created in # 8 b above, double-click on the file ie8 - rereg.cmd to run the script and restart.

9. reaffirm Internet Explorer as the browser in the default CUSTOM (<>) Set Program Access and defaults of the computerarticle. [2]

10. right click on the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop: http://www.slipstick.com/problems/reg/chromehtml.reg [3]

10. b double-click the file that you saved in # 10 above & accept invites him to MERGE with the registry data.

11 restart again.

12. open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 [ignore the warnings of DO NOT APPLY and the section will APPLY to] & run the difficulty.

Note => for best results, check the option Remove personal settings .

c. 13, without taking into account of the "not recommended" or similar warnings, run difficulty he 50202 in DEFAULT modes and AGGRESSIVE. [4]

14 restart once more and then run a manual updates & install any/all the updates available (for example, KB2722913 or higher); Follow all the instructions.

    There is no way to disable the use of Microsoft office in the event viewer.

    However if you want you can completely turn off event viewer of logging of all events performed on the computer by disabling the service on the computer Windows event log.

    (a) click on the start menu, type services.msc in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) click on services in the list now locate the Windows event log service

    (c) right-click on the service and click on disable

    Can not perform a direct upgrade to Windows 7 Professional to Windows Vista Home Premium - a "clean" installation is necessary.  Please see: upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7 (custom installation).  The only version that can perform a direct upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium is Windows 7 Ultimate edition.  Please download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and follow the recommendations contained in the report it generates.     Are you sure there is no Partition on your hard disk to reinstall Vista from recovery?

  • I can't access my account normally in Vista Home Premium: no job, no icons, no start button bar

    This problem started about 2 days ago. I turn on the computer and it starts normally. Then, when I put my password to login my account all I'm getting is the dialog box on a black screen asking if I want to start Vista now or more later. In addition, there are also a message in the corner at the bottom right of the screen saying that it is not a genuine copy of Vista. There is no taskbar, no icons, no start button. So far I tried to start safe mode and it identify you with icons, button bar and try to start but the background is always black without wallpaper.     I was able to print to a Hp Officejet 4215 with no problems and a brother and then printer started to save as offline and would not print. Uninstalled all printers and tried to install a new HP Officejet 6310 printer. Ran the install disc included, but would get the message error, is went to the HP site and downloaded the driver, still received the error msg - Windows found a driver software for your device but encountered an error trying to install it. The specified port is unknown. and installation of the device software has no error. I went into control panel / Device Manager / USB controller group / and tried to uninstall - restarted the pc and still no luck. When I go to the control panel and try to install a printer, there is no port printer not listed and I can't add a new port.  I have connected the printer to another laptop running Windows Vista and recognized the new printer and installed the drivers and the impressions very well, but this laptop will not load the drivers. Help, please... Im a university student and desperately need to print!

    All ports are used, and this is the reason why the installation goes through. We can uninstall these devices that are not in use and then try to reinstall the printer. Here's how:
    a. start, point to all programs, point to Accessories, and then click command prompt.
    b. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
    Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1
    c. type the following command a command prompt and press ENTER:
    Start devmgmt.msc
    d. troubleshoot the devices and drivers in Device Manager.
    NOTE: Click Show hidden devices on the view menu in device managers before you can see devices that are not connected to the computer.
    e. now navigate in imaging devices and then Device Manager expand it. Check if there are any devices that are not highlighted or blurred. Right-click on these devices and choose uninstall.
    f. repeat the same Universal Serial Bus controllers also.
    g. now try to install the printer.

  • Can't rip a CD in Windows Media 11-Vista Home Premium

    I see that I am not that experiences this problem.  After doing some checking.  I find that this problem only started happening until I downloaded and installed the Service Pack 2 of Vista.  I hope Microsoft can offer a downloadable patch to correct this situation.  Since it was released, Vista was a nightmare!

    Try to clear the cache of database of Windows Media Player files. To do this, follow the steps below:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.

    2. If you are running Windows Vista, click Start, click Run, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft and then click OK.
    3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click on Delete on the file menu.
    4. restart Windows Media Player.

    If this does not work, try to reduce the bitrate and check if you are able to RIP:
