Hello
You must restart your MacBook Pro and then try to empty your basket by selecting Finder (on top left) then select Empty trash from the menu drop-down.
If this does not work, try to repair your drive by following these instructions: disk utility (Yosemite): a repair disc

can't empty the Trash because of locked elements and certain permissions
I want to well to empty the trash, but am getting blocked by two numbers, starting with:
(1) ''there are some elements locked in the trash. " Do you want to remove all items, including those locked or just unlocked items? »
Unlike previous messages or suggestions on the support Forum, this text box does not actually identify the locked objects, not their names, places or anything like that. Similarly, when I press Option with Secure Empty Trash, it scatters only my Finder window such that I can not select anything.
I have browsed through the trash looking for ASCII files or other weird characters and have removed these (created a new folder on the desktop), but this has not changed anything. When I try to Secure Empty Trash again, the same note appears.
I tried the two options offered by this text box ('Remove all items' or 'Remove Unocked items'), but regardless of my choice, the following text is displayed:
(2) the operation cannot be performed because you have not granted access to some of the elements. »
I guess that brings me to permissions, but given that the article "troubleshooting permissions in Mac OS X - Apple support issues" has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple (from Jan 2016), I'm hoping to get information updated here.
Please help me!

I can't empty the trash to Simple Mail
This is the second time I ask this question. The last time, it only gave me a link to a non-Mozilla site, and they can't help me.
I tried activation of the box "to empty the trash, leaving", but it has no effect.
I've tried right-clicking on the trash folder and clicking on 'empty', but I get an error message: invalid response: no such message.
I'm now store 250 read the messages in the trash and climbing. I need real help, please.
As I have said here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/964370?esab=a & s = & r = 2 & as = s - the first time you have posted using Simple email.
There is a support thread for the Simple Mail extension over here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=2497499 Sorry, I don't use that extension and can't help you.
This extension is not made by Mozilla, even if AMO hosts that extension is done by a 3rd party. There is a link on the download page - Support site - AMO, which is the link that I posted in your first question about Simple Mail. Each developer extension has a responsibility to support their expansion. We try to answer questions about the extensions that are familiar to us, but like I said before, I do not use this extension myself. And since nobody else has replied to your other two offers on Simple Mail, I can only assume that anyone else coming here is familiar with this extension.

Can't empty the trash due to a file with the filename of garbage
MacBook Pro El Capitan - Trash has a/b/folder with a file with Chinese characters of garbage looking like file name which can not be changed or done something with. Trash does not open. sudo rm - rf don't get rid of it either. Any ideas?
Thank you.
Check SystemPreferences-> users & groups-> LoginItems, to see if there is something that has to do with this file, if so, remove it with the sign, if not, the next step:
Restart the mac and then empty the trash.

When I go to file in the trash, empty the trash is printed light instead of bold. What should I do?
Hi BevGranfor,
· What you mean exactly when you say "Empty trash is light Print instead of"BOLD"print"?
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
· What happens when you try to empty the trash?
· You receive an error message?
I suggest you follow the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and check if it works.

Can't empty the trash with file with strange name
I have an old file named "ˇ¡␀␀ˇ¡␀␀␀" ␀ 9 "9" which is not removed when I emptied the Recycle Bin. I tried to rename it but it does not accept the changes. Using the Terminal doesn't work either so far:
Mac - Pro: deletethis me$ find. -inum 425884608 - remove
find:-delete: rmdir(./ˇ¡␀␀ˇ¡␀␀␀"9\006␀"9): invalid argument
What can I do?
Have you tried to use the option + command + delete?
If this does not work, it may be trash to another volume, such as windows.

Error 50 while emptying the trash
I can't empty the trash error 50. It seems that the number of documents and folders contains a character "null" at the end of their names.
Yes, null files. You use Windows at all? If so, you can delete them in Windows. Otherwise, it is best to leave them alone. There they interfere with the normal functions of your Mac, erase and reinstall OS X using Internet for recovery.

I have some problems with a new surface pro 3.
A. when I try to access a web site, it goes into a vicious circle of "waiting for...". That does not stop
b. I can't empty the trash or delete a file downloaded my wife. I just get a "not responding".
c. when I try to access the files on any mobile device, for example Flash Player, it is reported there is no files when I know there are many
any suggestions?
Dr
I'm not sure that these are related between them, but
A: open the options of IE, on the connection tab, click on "Network settings" and make sure that everything is disabled (off), then reboot and see if it helps.
B: what process stops responding when you click the delete key?
C: it may simply mean that the file permissions are not configured to allow you to access the files on a flash drive. Do you know if there are security settings applied?

Empty the trash CAN´t
Hi all
I have the following problem:
I have some files in the trash can´t be deleted. When I try to empty the trash, I get the message... Cannot delete because the files are in use. File names contain non-standard characters, but I could rename their 'a', 'b' and so forth, then the files were deleted, files not - they are still displayed. On the terminal that they (folders!) do not appear, that is, the command "ls - al 'displays only the default directories'. 'and'.. 'in the folder'.» The basket", but the Finder displays the directories.
When you start in safe mode the Finder displays an empty the trash (?). I have tried almost everything, including:
- "chflags-r nouchg" and tips on the Apple web page
- rm - rf ~ /. Trash / * (in combination with sudo)
- Remove ".". Basket"and made a new folder. Trash
- etc etc.
far "files from the Recycle Bin" in the "." Trash"are still alive when to start normally. Does anyone have an idea of what has past and how can I get an empty the trash can again?
Greetings from the Germany
Mike
Please, open the Recycle Bin and select the items that you cannot delete. Make a right click or Ctrl-click. In the context menu, select
Delete immediately...
Confirm when prompted.

I can't open my trash and there are files I want to look at it before I empty the tray. Help, please...
In addition, the fold of library file in the bottom task bar does not open. How can I get these files to appear?
Go into safe mode and see if basket opens fine.
If so, recover the files from the bin and start in normal mode.
