  1. Click the "Start" menu in the bottom left of Windows. Then select "Default programs".
  2. Click on the option "Associate any type of file or Protocol with a program."
  3. Select the file type you want to change the types of files listed. For example, if you want the text (.txt) file to open it in Microsoft Word instead of WordPad, choose '.txt '.
  4. Click on the "Change Program" button in the upper right window.
  5. In the list of programs, select "Microsoft Word". If Microsoft Word does not appear in the list, click on the button 'Browse' in the bottom right and choose Microsoft Word on your computer.
  6. Click on the button 'OK' and then 'close '. The next time you open this type of file, it will open it in Microsoft Word. Repeat this procedure for any other type of file you want to open in Word.

  Here's another option to open an HTML element or any DW-compatible file with a right click.

  1. find a shortcut to your executable file (the file that launches DW), DW

  2 copy the shortcut into your SendTo folder located here:

  C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Window s\SendTo

  You can now right click on an HTML file and select 'send to"and"Dreamweaver".

  I just bought a new desktop computer with Windows 7 (the first time I used it at home).  I have three drives NAS; one of them is an of Maxtor Central axis.  I use the Central axis as a file server, it has Word, Excel and other Office files in addition to my music library and a handful of videos.  Whenever I try to open a document, say Word, Windows 7 does not show the Maxtor under my network.  It shows one of the other drives NAS (Iomega).  When I right click on the network, click "Open in a new window", I see the Maxtor drive. However when I click on it, Windows will open Windows Media Player.  I see only three songs, which aren't even mine; I think they were samples placed on the disk by an application.

  Other machines on my network (a computer laptop PC and Mac) continue to be able to see the of Maxtor Central axis.

  I can open my documents giving the fully qualified network path "\\Mca-054e16\Public", but it's a pain.  I can't map a drive letter for the drive; I just get the small circle who constantly.

  How can I get Windows 7 see Maxtor Central Axis like a file server and not only a media server?

• I can't get my PhotoShop to open

  I use Adobe CS5 on Windows 7. I can't get my PhotoShop to open. I have a prompt that reads 'failed to load actions because an unexpected end of file has been detected. I press the ok button and then I get an another command prompt that reads "could not initialize photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (removed)" I did remove something myself and my illustrator opens fine. What should I do to fix this?

  You can have a corruption in the General preferences.

  Try the process of deleting key three preferences in order to get Photoshop working again.

  On a PC, hold Control, Shift and Alt [command, shift, Option on the Mac] at the same time immediately after the cold Photoshop start.  If you're fast enough down the keys, it invites you to remove all the current preferences, which will lead to a reset all default preferences.
