  I have windows XP pro 32
  I had problems with the updates and downloads from microsoft. It seems that I can not download anything from microsoft, MSN to the service pack of windows update I tried to download recently.   MPEG files are problematic in all versions of Movie Maker.
  Best bet would be to convert the files to the. WMV format
  before you import into Movie Maker.

  There are many converters available on the net... some
  free... some detail.

  The following freeware converter is just one example:

  Download a two files. A small end .exe, the other .7z, wide, fine. You must run the small .exe file and will decompress the .7z big file to the correct locations.
