  Your iMac does support AirDrop.

  To update to OS X, you will need to do it in steps. First of all, on your iMac using Software Update in the  menu. This should take you to OS X 10.6.8 who will install the Mac App Store application. Once this is done, launch and use the screen more compatible fo updates updates.
