  Just a query
  My GF turned on his PC series portable Satellite C660 and it would not start, we have tried to open the restore from the recovery partition sequence but kept getting the error that progresses at the start (error said to a device USB has been disconnected).

  As you probably guessed that she never did the backup disks when you are prompted, everything I could think of used a drive to win 7 and reload this way then try to make recovery disks after (I didn't activate)
  so win 7 has been installed well and all the drivers of origin that was all last week.
  Now to the crunchiness, the recovery partition is here now, I do the recovery disks and install from those, win 7 I installed it will soon take activation
  Any ideas?

  After clean install of OS you can't create more recovery disk and you cannot install recovery image using the disk HARD recovery option (F8 at startup).

  Best thing you can do now is drive original order of Toshiba and use it for recovery image installation. It is certainly easier to have factory again.

• Why I can't make backups of my Vista Windows Mail email files?

  During the 3 years, when do backups, I just copied my "documents" folder in which I put my Windows Mail email folder. Never had a problem. Recently the file My last Email/Local Folders now refuses to copy. Explorer Windows try to copy it and at first it seems to work but while it starts at about 10 MB/sec it soon drops hyperbolically to zero, but never really gets there so everything hangs up. On 15 September, I made my last successful backup intact but since then, everything I tried failed. At first, I thought that files may not copy, because they are 'read only' files but of course this isn't. The files I copied successfully in my backups in September that all show an attribute "read only".

  I'm sure that this occurred shortly after a Windows Vista security 'upgrade', but after being in the security settings and change many of them I have no results.
  I recently had to use Internet Explorer for Google chrome and I don't have a gmail account if Microsoft & Google are not cohabiting in my computer. I ran into conflicts between IE and Chrome, especially when you try to print the email and web pages through our wifi HP network printer. Now my wife can not print at all. What is a part of the problem?

  For the printer part, WinMail uses the print engine that it is uses, adjust if margins and other in Internet Explorer to print in WinMail.

  But the inability to copy the files suggest hard disk problems.  Try opening Windows Explorer, right click on the C drive and go to properties. Tools | Check out now and see if it finds problems.  You can also use the attempt to Windows Explorer to access the folders and messages to make sure there is no problem with access (try to copy directories message individually and perhaps you can distinguish a problem).  You can also try compacting and repairing the database of WinMail to ensure that it is not the question, but I doubt that this would be the case.

  I decided to uninstall the rogue program Firefox download and reinstall the same version (No. 8). I used Windows XP Add Remove programs who asked if I wanted to save the settings of Firefox until I uninstalled Firefox. I said yes and operated with the uninstall. I couldn't find a Firefox 8 so I went for the 12 version and installed on the laptop. This version 12 now works with all the passwords one favorite of the uninstalled 8.

  I run a 27 inch mid 2011 iMac with the last OS of El Capitan. I use my Time capsule using the airport on 12 hours automatic backup.

  Yes, you can... but the procedure will not "auto".  Connect the hard drive to the USB port on the Time Capsule and use the Archives in the utility AirPort.

  

  This copies everything on the Time Capsule on the USB.

  Upside down... you have a copy of all of your backups on the Time Capsule. Downside... you must check manually... and... f there are problems with the backups on the Time Capsule, these same questions will be copied on the USB.

  IF... connect you the player to the USB port on the Time Capsule, rather using the manual function Archive... you don't have the opportunity to have Time Machine backup automatically at a time Capsule of time and the USB on the Time Capsule.  Time Machine automatically alternates backups from one disk to another.

  Even better, more reliable and much faster would be to connect the USB directly to your Mac and have Time Machine automatically backup the disk in addition to the time Capsule.

  There are other options of backup as well, but they would not be using Time Machine.

  After HP installed a new motherboard in my computer it does not start in normal mode due to a conflict pilot somewhere they can't find.  But I can run it in safe mode.

  HP has decided to send me a new (and better) computer rather than trying to resolve the conflict.  But my problem is - no backup program does work in safe mode!  The thing Windows Easy Transfer does not work.
  I desperately need to get all of my Office 2010 settings and configurations moved to the new machine.  And ideally, I'd like to get all my programs and settings moved as well.  I have an external hard drive that has plenty of space for everything.
  I would like to make a backup image of August that contains all programs and settings, I need.  But the old machine is running Windows 7 Professional and the new a Windows 7 Home Premium and I do not know if the backup/restore functions are the same.  Anyone know if I can use the backup/restore of Windows in Windows 7 Home Premium to restore settings and programs to a Windows 7 backup professional?  If so, it would be what I need.
  If not, anyone know if there is a way to save these settings in safe mode and programs?
  (I can't believe none of this works in safe mode.)  When you need to run in safe mode, you are obviously in a critical State and it seems that would be a time that many people would need to make a backup).

  That's what I hate about these forums... you get a useful answer, a week after you ask!  (not your fault, I know).

  But I'm already in place and running on the machine again and the former is on its way via FedEx to HP.

• Siri can not make phone calls

  After the passage of an iPhone 7 from an iPhone 6 via iTunes backup everything (well almost) works very well.

  However, Siri refuses to launch phone calls: 'sorry, I can't make your phone call. Each component seems to work separately: Contacts can be consulted and have found with the help of Siri, contacts can be called, and the phone is very good as well. I do not use any Bluetooth device, just the phone.

  I tried to restart, a soft reset, re - insert the SIM card, restart Siri and through all relevant parameters in iOS10.0.1, Siri in the lock screen as well as after having unlocked the phone with several of the contacts and the types of numbers.

  Don't forget: I can put any call I want, but not with Siri.

  As I have yet to find advice through Google I hope that here, experts can provide further advice!

  Talked to the hotline from Apple Support today. They convinced me to try reset the network settings. However, this does not have the problem.

  So I decided to reinstall from backup again (their second and final suggestion): I stored the new pictures that I shot with the phone before restore the device with exactly one that I used when the new machine was delivered two days ago:

  If it was the same data as iTunes sent to the same device, it worked!

  Interestingly other small issues were fixed as well (for example some photos were missing in camera rolling despite the fact that they were on the phone) and the whole process was not too long, since iTunes stores now sync settings for the lists of reading, books, movies, and photos on this unit (except for the initial setup of the new device two days ago).

  In my opinion the iOS in the update interval can be the reason of this problem-free second run: 7A iPhone shipped with iOS 10.0.0 but I updated to 10.0.1 after initial installation.

  You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

  • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
  • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
  • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

  You can delete all data stored in Firefox with a specific area through "Forget this Site" in the context menu of a history entry ("" history > view history "or" view > sidebar > History "") or via the subject: permissions page.

  Using "Forget this Site" will delete all data stored in Firefox in this area as bookmarks, cookies, words of past, cache, history, and exceptions, so be careful and if you have a password or other data from that domain you don't want to lose then check that back up these data or make a comment.

  You can't recover from this "forget" unless you have a backup of the files involved.

  It has no lasting effect, so if come back you on such a 'forgotten' site, then the data of this Web site will be saved once more.

  Independent of how this feature works, you want to have your photos in one place and have a backup (second copy) somewhere else. All hard drives will not be successful at some point - some more early, some late - never trust to have your files in any safety devices if they are on a single disc. Once you have your sorted, it would be useful that you will organize/name/tag new photos immediately if the task is relatively short and simple. I copy my photos on my internal hard drive for my camera, take a quick look with preview to see who needs some changes and then decide where to put them - either drop them immediately after naming them or bring in an editing application and then file them away.

  Very probably not.

  I suppose that if you're talking about maybe having a disc a connected network of Mac and then using something like Carbon Copy clone to clone your drive on another Mac, but I suspect that it's NOT what you're talking about.  And in this case, the first Mac must provide the encrypted disk, say through FileVault.

  What I suggest you that do is install OS X on an external drive or thunbdrive USB or SD card (assuming that your Mac has a SD card slot).  It would be a clean install of Mac OS X without anything sensitive on this subject.  Install the software needed to access and decrypt your data online (not the password or encryption key, just what you need to restore your data).

  When you choose an online storage service, choose the one where your data are encrypted before they leave your Mac.  If someone else has your encryption keys, they can always decrypt your data without you.

  If you need to restore your Mac of your encrypted backup, you start the external device, clone the external drive to your Mac in order to have a base operating system (or use the external OS X to use the App Store to install some OS X version you have at your disposal), use the software that you have installed to access your encrypted data and then begin to copy things to your Mac.

  Backup in general.  Use of a 3-2-1 approach.  Have 3 copies of your data (the original version is one of these copies).  Use 2 different backup utilities that a bug in one does not affect the other backup.  Have a backup offsite to protect against theft, fire and disasters natural.  Copies of backup more is good too.

  Getting back to your desire, I wouldn't (and don't) worry about a backup bootable online.  I keep local copies bootable clone them and book backups network as only essential data.
