I can't open a m4v video
Hi all.
I bought a Dashcam for my car and it has GPS.
Initially, the gps does not work on my Mac, it works only on a Windows PC, (discovered after purchase) so I returned it.
The creators of the Dashcam contacted me and said they had now made available for a Mac and I couldn't
Redeem only and it would work.
So, I bought again and guess what. I can't get the Datakam Player to open
The video is downloaded to my computer I have in Itunes, also in a folder on my desk and movies, and in Quicktime player, they all play when I click on them, but when I try to open the file in the DataKam Player it is gray... absolutely nothing!
I'm really, really bored! can someone tell me how I can get DataKam to import and open the video file?
Thank you
A very frustrated Tricia.
Dear Apple comm.

PS can not open the file video .avi :(
Hey guys!
So this time, PS cannot open a .avi movie file.
I already installed the latest version of Quicktime (7.1) but it will not always be open.
It says: "Cannot be completed to open video frames in order to order of layers because the video file cannot be opened."
My video, either as 500Ko - 1 MB... or lasts from 3 to 10 seconds
Looks like you are missing a codec for the file.

Cannot open 'you tube' videos or videos from any website
Updated for Firefox 11 and now I can't open the internet videos on you tube or any other Web site
It is probably because you are using an older version of the Adobe Flash plugin. If you visit the Mozilla Plugin Updater, http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ and install an update finds it, does make a difference?

Can't play m4v videos in Firefox.
Hello. I was hoping that someone could help me with a problem. I have a html presentation for a class that I teach. (I have created the presentation.) It includes m4v videos and I can not play in Firefox. He said: "no video with format supported and MIME the type found. I can play the videos if I open them outside, but I need to work in the presentation. Help, please. Thank you.
Firefox can not read files with the file extension .m4v via audio or video tag that those are not supported file extensions. You can only read these files via the object tag to use a plugin that supports this file Firefox extension. You can force it to use a specific plugin by specifying a type (type = "application/x-mplayer2").
<object data="file://<path to file>" type="<to force a specific plugin>"></object>

My m4v videos to view a preview, but now it is a generic white band 'film' with a blue dot. I used to fly over the icon and preview would play. Previews were an easy way of the video ID. How can I restore previews? OS X El Capitan 10.11.4
I'm ' dropped in ' the answer! By changing the name of the ".m4v" to ".mov" file preview is now fixed! Billy just got lucky...

original title: help with Movie Maker...
I can't open videos or change with Movie Maker.
Is it because I have a Sony Handycam?
He said that there is a lack of "codec". Where can I install the missing codec from?
Very frustrating because I've used it before - maybe because I have SP3? But I don't want to uninstall SP3... :-(
Help, please!
Thank you!!
Thanks for the info.
MPEG files are problematic in all versions of Movie Maker.
Best bet would be to convert the files to the. WMV format
before you import into Movie Maker. There are many converters available on the net... some
free... some detail. The following freeware converter is just one example:
(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)Format Factory (freeware)
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory
(the 'direct link' is faster)
(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup280.zip<>
(FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the final screens)
(Windows XP / Vista / 7)First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup280.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
are converted)Drag and drop your video clips on the main screen...
Select "all to WMV" / OK...
Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...
That should do it...
Good luck...

All of a sudden my pictures folders are now all show in Windows Media Player and I can't open each photo in full screen, but only in the video display mode. When I go to my pictures and choose view as thumbnails, that's fine, but when I click on the individual photo, it shows on the screen no video not in mode full screen and I can't move the photo to the photo without closing the video screen. How can I get my pictures on Windows Media Player?
This problem has now been resolved. I went in my computer > tools > Folder Options > file Type, select the type of file and clicked on advanced then > change and changed back to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer in Windows Media Player. I had the idea of a response posted on this forum about a different issue, but who pointed me in the right direction.
