I can't open a web page without www

I can't open a webpage without www because all browsers (Safari, Firefox, or Chrome) add the prefix automatically www.

Which Web page you are trying to open?

Are saying you that you type something like thissite.com and as if by magic it is become into www.thissite.com?

In all browsers, so you can access it? I have never seen anything like that... what happens if you return in the address bar and manually remove the "www."?

If you type the url in, say, TextEdit or Mail, the control key and choose services-> open URL?

  • How can I save a web page without creating a dozen or more than tiny files, which is worse than Internet Explorer?

When I try to save a web page in Firefox, I get about a dozen tiny files with any funny names cluttering up my documents folder and makes it difficult to find anything. It reminds me of the problems I used to have with Internet Explorer more than ten years ago. But at least IE was kind enough to collect all these files in a single folder named "files". Firefox them pouring everything in the folder my documents. Messy.

Years, I discovered Opera, which offered a file format which combined the original html code with other files in a single file: the archives of the internet, with the extension instead of htm mht. I used Opera for years, but has recently become aware of the benefits of Firefox.

A few days ago, I downloaded the latest version of Firefox and installed. I've been evaluating it since then. It looks good; I figured out (more or less) how Bookmarks work, and I'm getting used to the task bars.

But when I try to save a page, I still have a deluge of tiny files cluttering up the target folder. Firefox stores pages in the form of archive, but only in the old scattered form. Of course, I could just save the html code only. Maybe it's the best thing, but it loses a lot.

The chaos of the junky files cluttering my target folder is enough to send back me to Opera, despite its limitations.

This extension allows for web pages saved in MHT format.

    are you an error?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to fix the problem and to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

  • When you use quicklaunch to open a web page, if I already have an open page, how can I open a second page or pages using an icon from quick launch without closure or replacing the one I already opened?

When you use quicklaunch to open a web page, if I already have an open page, how can I open a second page or pages using an icon from quick launch without closure or replacing the one I already opened?

    Hi Haubhaus,

I know one thing to get your links to always open in a new window:
    1. Right-click on your desktop, select new, then shortcut
    2. Type "" C:\Program may Explorer\IEXPLORE. "." EXE" and click Next
    3. Name the shortcut (for example: Microsoft Home) and click Finish
    4. Right-click on the new shortcut and select Properties
    5. In the target box, arrow over until the end of the path, add a space and add -new (WEBSITEPATH). When your finished, your path should look like this:
      "" C:\Program may Explorer\IEXPLORE. "." "EXE" - new www.microsoft.com
    6. Click OK and try it!
Let me know if it works or if I can be of further assistance!

  • I can't get my web pages and applications to open full screen

No matter what I try, I can't do my windows to open in full screen, currently that's about 3 x 4 inches and whenever I have to optimize and then close when it opens again its young? I have a right-click the Explorer icon open the Properties tab and do it on the line run together optimise but still no luck?

    * original title - I can't get my web pages and applications to open full screen, I tried everything *.

    Here, everything you haven't done?

    Three options.

1: take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. Close all other windows first via the taskbar and the latter. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window the next time that you open the program.

2: any shortcut you use to launch the window, right-click, and select Properties. Under the 'Run' drop-down list, choose "expanded".

It's very consistent, he arrives a few minutes? In this case, I suggest this test:

To find out if one of your extensions is the culprit, could you test mode without failure of Firefox? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

    Any difference?

  • I can't load any web pages (500 Internal Server Error)

I can't currently load web pages when using Firefox. I get a "500 Internal Server Error" standard page on each site. I tried with IE and there is no problem in loading pages.

I tried to create a new profile, uninstalling and reinstalling, put to upgrade to Firefox 4 (used previously 3) and uninstalling and wiping all profile information, but nothing has worked.

The problem began when a video player in Flash has crashed (channel4.com). Windows has been completely insensitive and I couldn't exit the full screen video. I tried pressing ESC, ctrl + ESC, ctrl + alt + delete etc but nothing worked and I had to hold the power button on the tower for 4 seconds to turn it off. When I started upward again once I was introduced to the screen when Windows fails to load normally and I chose the "start Windows normally", that had started Windows successfully. Since then I been unabe to view web pages in Fireox, I always get the 500 Internal Server Error page.

It is a strange and I'm out of ideas, any help would be appreciated because I really want to go back to using Firefox!

    Thank you

What security (firewall) software do you have?

One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container.
