  You must change the extension of the name of _DOC in just DOC. Then you will need a program to open the file; the free Word Viewer, as well as a compatibility pack, if needed, should do the job. How to obtain the latest Word Viewer

• I can't open attachments of the e-mail account. When I try my computer turns off and restarts and when he comes back he says he recovered a serior error.

  A couple of days, I did a restore of the system at the end of July because the size of everything was off of the big time and had never done a system restore before.  Since I did, everything is returned to the way it was before sizes... and I can receive and send emails...   Save the attachment to disk.  Then right-click on it and choose open with (or go to properties |) Change) and then designate the good program with which to open the attached file.

  I can't open attachments to emails.   I get the message "Required registry information is missing and this application cannot run.  Please return to the settings and correct the problem.  The program to open the attachments is broken and needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled.   I don't have any idea how to solve this problem.

  The error message says that MS Word is not correctly installed and you need to remove a reinstall it. You have MS Word on your computer? If this isn't the case, get this viewer.

  If you do not have Word, you can try this, but if no joy, you may need to remove and reinstall Word.

  Create a file association.

  1. download and save the attachment to the office.
  2. right click on the saved file.
  3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
  4. click on: choose [default] program.
  5. Select: Microsoft Word.
  6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
  7. click on OK.

  For Powerpoint extensions. PPT or. PPS, you need to open these files with Microsoft Office Powerpoint. These will open in slide format.

  I've been running Vista SP1 with Windows Home Premium and Windows Mail without problems, including handling e-mail attachments.  For safety, I: McAfee Total Protection, Windows Firewall, Zone Alarm and Windows Defender.

  I installed IE8 and liked the convenience features.   It worked well on my machine, but now I can't open e-mail attachments.  Security in Windows Mail by IE8 settings are maintained and are defined to allow attachments.  I uninstalled IE8 and the problem disappeared.  None of my security programs are scoring blocked attachments or otherwise.

  Any suggestions on how to fix this so I can go back to IE8?

  I just got the phone with McAfee.  It seems that IE8 doesn't is NOT supported by McAfee in its current configuration that they still think IE8 beta.  I was informed that when the consumer final version McAfee support and my attachments e-mail won't be a problem.  Too bad at the moment, I liked IE8.

  I recently installed windows 7.  laptop came with vista, then the upgrade I installed.  seemed to install correctly.  I can now open attachments to emails that I could open before.  When I log on my daughters computer attachments open is not a problem of attachment.

  You bought subscription Adobe PDF package that is why you are unable to open a PDF file.

  You should perhaps install Adobe Reader (free software) or buy a subscription to open a PDF Acrobat DC file.
