  Try http://www.enounce.com for flash files. You can speed up and slow down playback speed. They have a free trial of 7 days and the price is less than $30.

  You can also adjust the playback speed in windows media player for avi files. Select one) "Now Playing" in the top toolbar, b) "improvements", c) "play speed settings.

  Some audio and video file formats are not supported in Windows Movie Maker and cannot be imported. Movie Maker is not compatible with QuickTime .mov files. However, if you have a video or audio file that is not supported, you can use a video editing software not Microsoft to convert the file into a format supported by Windows Movie Maker to perform a search online for video conversion software to find one that fits your needs (check the file formats that are supported by Window Movie Maker http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Import-video-files-pictures-and-audio-into-Windows-Movie-Maker) and then import the video file or an audio resulting in Windows Movie Maker. Some files also require you to install a codec before you can use the files in Windows Movie Maker.

  IMOPRTANT NOTE: Using third-party software can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly or may lead to serious problems.   Media Center WILL read DVDs and will also allow the media player to play video files more... but not DVD.

  If you do not Win Pro 8, you need the upgrade pack to Windows 8 Pro that contains Media Center.

  The only other option would be a 3rd party player and set it as the default value for the DVD.

  The old QuickTime plugin is no longer supported.  You will need to download the old files .mov on your hard drive and either play in the QuickTime application or something like the well-respected VLC player (https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html).

  Note that the only long-term solution will be to have the videos converted and displayed on the site Web in user-friendly formats for HTML5 modern.

  The short answer is probably never. Surface RT doesn't have a license to play DRM content, so unless Microsoft Gets a license, you will not be able to play your DRM WMV files... or can you?

  Basically, you need to download a DRM remover, run it and transfer it to the surface. It explains how to convert the format of WMV to mp4 say however, there are enough apps in the store play WMV files that you shouldn't have to be converted if you do not want. With respect to the transfer to the surface, personally, we use Skydrive, but you can use any method you want. In addition, you do not have to use the Remover suggested in the article, now that you know that they exist, you can search and find your own.
