I can't publish a file using Windows Movie Maker despite after every single step and instruction

I use Windows Movie Maker c. 5.1. (Build 2600) on a computer running Windows XP Professional 2002, SP 3. I try to publish a movie file which is a revised version of a WMV file. In other words, the original file is a file WMV is 534 MB.  I am editing the film by dividing and by deleting scenes, adding transitions and titles.  I am able to save the file (for a WMM file) but impossible to publish the movie.  I checked that (i) the files are in the correct location, (ii) the file does not exceed the limit of 4 GB, (iii) the destination does not exist (I tried everything from my desktop to video files).  I tried every possible resolution and the file type.

I would change the software of movie at this point if I had not invested so much energy and time behind this project.  Help, please!

Hello not happy with WMM,

You get an error message when you try to publish?  If so, what is it?

One thing you might try is breaking your video into 3 or 4 smaller sections and see if they work / will be published separately.

See you soon

    Hi I'mafteru.

    1. don't you make changes before the show?

Sometimes no Microsoft programs running on the computer may cause this problem. Try the following steps:
Step 1: Check if a non-Microsoft program is causing this issue
see How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State .
    b. restart the computer and check if the problem persists. If the issue is not persistent, then from the article, follow the method 1 and method 2 to find out if any program is causing the problem.
    c. Once you have found the culprit which is the program that is causing the problem, then uninstall it or reinstall once more to solve the problem.

Note: Article, remember to follow 'steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state. "

Step 2: Remove the unwanted registry entry
    a. see the CD-R or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device
    b. follow the steps in the article, and then restart the computer.
    c. check to see if the problem persists.

Important: Modifying the registry incorrectly or remove will cause serious damage to the computer. It is recommended to back up the registry before you edit it.

  • I have Windows XP Home Edition & tries to use Windows Movie Maker 2, after having made the film, he won't let m not record my movie?

He's saying that he cannot save the movie to the specified location. Ensure that the use of original source of your movie files are always available (which they are!) that the backup location is always available - what it means?

    Pls help

    Thank you inadvance

The most common reason, you see this is because Movie Maker is unable to manage one of your source files.  Movie Maker prefers to video .wmv and .wma for audio, so if you use other types of files in WMM 2.1, you should try to convert them to these types of files first.  Freemake has a couple of converters (Freemake Video Converter and Audio Converter from Freemake) that can do this quite easily.  Or you can look around.

Another reason, you could see it is if your project has a lot of pictures.  The version of XP Movie Maker (WMM 2.1) was not too well manage memory and could not refuse to save your movie once it takes about 100 photos.  If this is the case, try to divide your project into two (or more) separate projects and recording each part as a separate sequence.  If it works, at the end you can put them back together by creating a final project and adding partial movies created previously.

All using windows movie maker, I added audio, but I can't hear the music while playing the video... Why is this?

    Hello

    1. What is the format of the video file that you use in Movie Maker?

    2. do you receive error messages when you try to play the video?

Some audio and video file formats are not supported in Windows Movie Maker and cannot be imported. However, if you have a video or audio file that is not taken care of, you can use a non-Microsoft video editing software to convert the file into a format supported by Windows Movie Maker, and then import the video file or an audio resulting in Windows Movie Maker.

You can use your favorite search engine and download third-party video editing software to convert the file.

Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • Using Windows Movie Maker on the error message XP__ not indexed _ bad quality

I use Windows Movie Maker XP (version 2.1?).  I've converted and imported a lot of videos.  I have a group of short videos recorded the same day.  I (with free STROKE) converted to AVI and they play with no audio and several play accelerated.  I've then diverted to ASF and some of them imported correctly.  Most of them gave me an error message that they were not indexed.  I downloaded several things to remedy this from online forums: I uninstalled K-Lite pack codec, Expression Encoder 4, WinDVR AVI, DivFix, lame and a number of things.  That's a family movie, I spent a lot of time on it.  If anyone can help with my old hardware and software configuration at this point I'd appreciate it.  The original film seems to be of much better quality than what I am able to import.  Thank you!

The most reliable video format for Movie Maker is. WMV.

No guarantee... but the following freeware converter
    may be worth a try:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Sothink Free Video Converter
    http://www.Sothinkmedia.com/video-converter/
    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

You will need to unzip the file... or you could just drag
the Setup.exe from the file out of the folder and drop it on your
    desktop and install from there.

Once installed... Open Sothink and go to... Add the files button...
Find and select the clips you want to convert.

Next... in the encoding settings... Choose... Video credits.
WMV - Windows Media Video (*.wmv).

Choose an output folder and on the left, click on the button convert.

You can experiment with other settings later but
This should help you get started.

    Good luck...

  • When I use Windows Maovie Maker, the program keeps freezing upwards and says that it does not.

When I use Windows Maovie Maker, the program keeps freezing upwards and says that it does not. I close and try again, but get the same question. in the past, I used this program very well without any problem. Now I do one or two things in the tyring program to create a video and it freezes. Any suggestions how I can fix this problem?

The three main causes of problems of Movie Maker are:

    (1) incompatible or damaged source files.
(Photos / videos / Audio clips)

Several formats are apparently compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
    Audio - wav, wma, wmv

    (2) problems with video filters

Open Movie Maker and go... Tools / Options /.
Compatibility tab and disable all filters / OK.

If this does not help, try going back to the same
location and on the left, click on the 'all the default settings.
    button. / OK.

    (3) too large or complex project

    Create small projects.
    Add less Transitions, effects, etc...

I seem to have the same problem as tantoe but when I clicked on the link in your message, it took me to the page, but the person's recommendation was not good; It (don't remember the name) had two links to click & when I clicked on the two I was redirected to a page that says that the page could not be found.

The song with that I have a problem is "I'm in love (with a killer)" by Jeffree Star &, as with all my other audio files that I did NOT have this problem with, is mp3 format. I have a video in mind with this song & pictures I saved star but Windows Movie Maker cannot import it.

If there is anything you could do, advice you could give, I would really appreciate it. This is my favorite song by Jeffree Star & it drives me crazy not being able to import it into Movie Maker. :-/

    Blond highlights Hello,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers Forum.  Usually, when you try to play a video in Media Player if you do not have the right codec Media Player will automatically download and install the correct codec if it is available.  Since this is a Power Point presentation has video embedded in it?  If so, try to play the video file outside the Power Point presentation and Media Player will go out and get the correct codec if you are connected to the internet.  Here is an article from the Microsoft Knowledge base that explains Media player codecs and configuration to automatically download:
