I can't read the product key on the bottom of the laptop as the sticker is dissipated.
product key for help
I bought a mobile phone 2nd hand via personal sales. The laptop came with Windows Vista home premium installed. They had erased the hard drive before selling that I expected. After 3 weeks, I started to have a prompt for assets using a product key. The sticker on the bottom is quite alert by. Everything I've read here, says I need a new product key... I do not understand how am I supposed to buy a completely new windows program?
If there is a sticker on the bottom, it's OEM. One thing to check because it of a laptop, whether or not it has a recovery partition you want to restore from.
Click Start > right click on computer > manage > in store > disk management
It can show a recovery/system partition which can be used to update the laptop to the factory settings. If it is there, Google your laptop make/model with 'restore factory settings' and it should tell you how to do (each laptop can be different)
Hope this helps, if not, you can buy a new copy of selling at retail.

Ask them to send you a set of recovery disc for your model computer reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

I can't read my product key.
but I have the product number that I can read clearly, but I can't read the product key.
but I have the product number that I can read clearly, but I can't read the product key.Hello
You mean the product key on the sticker on the case of the Vista operating system pre-installed from Dell, HP, Acer, Toshiba, etc.) ?
If you do, you can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:
You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:
How to change the Boot order in BIOS:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm
"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246
And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.
The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)
Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.
Ask them to the proper key sequence.
And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.
Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.
If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.
The methods above resettlement generally do not require allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

What version of vista OS x 14-39682
I can read 25 characters of Vista on the coa sticker numbers, but the name of the version of windows has dissipated. The hard drive is unreadable and dead. I have another hard drive and the number, but I don't know which version of Windows Installer. The number, I can read is 00148-128-072-097 and the other is x 14-39682.
The 14-39682 X is the part number of your copy of Windows Vista and it is Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 OEM.

I have windows Vista Home Basic and I had a virus my laptop so had to wipe it and re install windows, but now he asks me my product key that I can't read the sticker as he had ripped a little...
If you reinstall of the manufacturer's recovery disc then it should not ask for a product key. That said, it is there no trace of the product key printed on the COA sticker on your computer. Stickers are applied in batches at the factory and no record is made of what product key is associated with a specific machine. I'm sorry.
Check with the manufacturer if your computer has a recovery partition. Who restores Windows to its factory condition.
What kind ot disk you install from and entered with your computer?

VISTA ACTIVATION PROBLEM
EVERY MORNING
IVE JUST HAD MY LAPTOP REPAIRED AND NOW IM BEING ASKED TO ACTIVATE IT!
HOWEVER, I CAN'T READ MY STICKER PRODUCT KEY ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LAPTOP
WHAT CAN I DO?
Kind regards

Hello
I would take it back to the workshop of repair and demand that they fix it properly and send it to you already reactivated.
It is a way around it, but it's time and and maybe more money:
As you can not read your product key on the label, we cannot help you get your product key (Key Finder programs will not solve it).
The way around this is to contact your laptop manufacturer and ask them to send you recovery disks to reinstall the operating system properly. They should send records for a small fee.
While you are in contact with the Manufaxcturer of the laptop also ask them if there is a way to reinstall the operating system on a recovery partition on the hard drive of your laptop, allowing you to save money.
Either of these methods of recovery normally does not imply that you have to insert a product key as factory Setup key is automatically used to activate this process.
My advice, in order of preference:
1. repair facility
2. recovery of the process.
See you soon.

How will I know that my product key is if I can't read the label
I need to clean and reload Windows XP Home Edition on my netbook because of spyware and viruses., but I can't read the product key on the label
because it is worn off the coast or rub off from sweat or use. Is there a way to find this key else where?
Which might be good now that you mention it!
Mike - contact your manufacturer! No your netbook came with an XP installation CD authentic?
It can also have a built recovery partition that would set your system to an out of the box condition.
I am out of touch with the world of OEM... and would rather make you in the eye with a sharp stick that ever consider to reinstall.
Sorry for the confusion.

my product key is a bit cleared, and I can't read the number
my product key is a bit cleared and Word guard invites me to save it, please help, help me obi wan kanobi (bill gates), I can't read the number of your My only help.
If you are prompted to register, skip-it is not necessary. If you are being prompted to activate you need not the product key. We can not help you with that as the product key provided with the product and is unique and there is no record of who has what key to check - not even at Microsoft.
Here is the Microsoft policy about lost or missing software: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246/en-gb.
I'm sorry, that we cannot be of more assistance. If bad comes to worse, download and install the FREE OpenOffice Suite (www.openoffice.org), which contains most of the Microsoft Office programs (except Outlook and a few others in the more advanced desktop versions) and at least you won't have to spend more money on the situation.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

NKALE,
It is OEM, sale retail or Volume Licensing? If it is OEM, the tile should be on your CPU. If it's retail, should be on the back of the box. If it's VL, then you should see in https://eopen.microsoft.com.
