  I think that the solution center is a part of HP.  I go to programs - run and type msconfig.  Click the Startup tab and look for Solution Center, then uncheck the box so that it will not start then click on apply and restart the computer

  First, disconnect all the external devices connected to the computer, and then try to start and check what is happening. If the same happens, then you can try to start in safe mode and check if you are able to boot to the desktop. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started.   There are a few things that you would have to do to install XP instead of Vista:

  1. contact the manufacturer of your computer and see if the XP drivers are available for your computer model to make sure that XP has worked properly in this regard.

  2. If the XP Drivers are available, buy a XP disk operating system / license. Try local computer repair shops because Microsoft sells more than XP and online sale buy you pirated copies can cause. Be very careful.

  3 XP runs with 512 MB of RAM, although a little slow by today's standards.

  4. do a clean install of XP. Make sure that all your data is backed up as the hard will be cleaned of everything during the Installation of XP.
