  It all depends on where the data is stored. Microsoft recommends storing files of photos under "My pictures" and Word files under 'My Documents' if it's your daily practice, backup the contents of these files to a Flash DRIVE or online and then recovery on the new computer will do the trick.

• Why can I not use $25 credit in my account from microsoft to buy game apps?

  I received a coupon for a $25 Best Buy when I bought my new HP laptop. After following the instructions, I was able to buy $25 and my microsoft account shows a balance of $25. When trying to purchase a game app from Microsoft store, I'm prompted to enter my credit card information and not give me the ability to use the $25 into my account. I tried to contact Microsoft customer support several times. I first learned that I was wrong site, even if there were a link to the game I tried to buy. (Which shows as a Microsoft product by the way.)

  Finally they gave me a number to call for technical support from Microsoft store. After scanning my machine to identify the problem, I had a sales pitch for their COMPUTER service. Needless to say that they cannot solve the many problems they found with the new laptop brand new, unless I have buy at least a plan for 1 year for $175. Seriously, I'm supposed to pay more than $100, so I can use my $25 store credit.

  Is can someone please tell me what I need to do to fix it so I can use this money in my Microsoft account to buy this game, I want to go to the Microsoft store?  Right now, I'm so disabled by the whole process which took up my evening together, I'm ready to write off the money and spend.   You won't find any IDE or SATA settings in the BIOS. The problem is that you have not installed the SATA driver that is needed to install the XP on this laptop.

  Intel Matrix Storage Manager is the key!
  The storage manager should be included in the Windows XP operating system during the installation process using the F6 key.
  On the other hand, you could include the Storage Manager using the free app called nLite.
