MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

They have good tools to find compatible parts for your Mac models.  The OWC took is here

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/MyOWC/

OWC tends to have the most detailed information on the Mac.  If I look to the top of the part to OWC and review specifications.  OWC offers often information based on the Mac-specific tests.  If Crucial offer something similar for a substantially lower price, buy it from Crucial.  I'm sure they have a refund is not political, if a part they say is compatible.  I bought the RAM and SSD both Crucial and OWC.  From my experience, be it high quality.

For the 2010 iMac, OWC also offers a "kit" (with the tools and support) to replace the hard drive of 3.5 inches with a 2.5-inch SSD.  Eventually, if it's a 27-inch iMac, I think that you can Add the SSD instead of replace the hard drive.  And they have self-produced how-to videos on the process, related to many of their lists of products.  OWC provides a lot of information with added value and service for Mac users.

OWC also offers kits to replace the optical drive on some Macs (including MacBooks) with an SSD (as a secondary internal drive).

  • iMac mid-2010: list of compatible HARD drive

    Hello

I need to replace the hard drive of my iMac 21.5 mid 2010. I thought that any SATA drive would work, but after studying a bit I discovered the issue of thermal sensor. So my question is: are there at - there somewhere a list of compatible drives? I can't find any information on this subject.

I'm not going to replace the drive myself, but I would like to know the options.

    Thank you

    Luis

You don't necessarily have to get a special player.  There are interface cables

available that have a temperature probe attached to it.  See:

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/item/OWC/DIDIMACHDD09/

This cable simply connects between the new drive and the cable of the iMac.

Using this cable, you can install any available hard drive.

  • iMac mid-2010 for one SSD HARD drive replacement

    Hello

After reflection, (mainly in the meantime my principalement en attendant mon iMac iMac starts!), I decided to replace the HDD with a SSD. After having done some research and I watch YouTube videos, I'm not sure if I have bought the right tools for the job. Could someone please help me and let me know if I'm not on the right track here.

The iMac in question is a model 27 "2010.

Here's what I have on order:

I also ordered suction cups and relevant screwdrivers.

I intend to completely remove the current HD and its replacement by the new SSD. Am I right assuming that I will just remove current thermal sensor cable and replace it with the one OWC? I'm not 100% on this one.

    Cheers in advance

    Ian

Yes, you just remove the thermal sensor and place the OWC in line sensor (the sticker pad can be placed on the support of 2, 5-2, 5 (as the SSD will not have a lot of heat).  The longer a cable must be re-attached the logic board.

The only suggestion I have would be - it probably need not SATA cables for this-> upgrade SSD HARD drive, thermal line sensor is long enough - in fact, too long that I had to press them to be shaped in the iMac.  Unless you plan to add other SSD in the system, since the iMac 2010 with SATA 2 (3 GB/s speed).

    Good luck

  • manufacture of mid-2010 iMac long beep during use

My iMac mid-2010 recently started to long, high-pitched sounds of snoring randomly - normally after it has been for some time. I recorded the sound but can't seem to be attached to this post.

Last night, he did a single, long and serious beep (like an old Atari or something) - it's like the sound on this link, but it does only once. https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=Zbmx_555fcE

Anyone has any ideas on what could happen?

    Thank you!

Normally this beeps indicate memory RAM problems. You can try to take a MEMORY first and see if it gets better. If this is not the case, try a different RAM and check if it makes a difference.

  • Cost of repair disk HARD mid-2010 iMac

I was wondering, how can I expect to pay to have my 1 TB HARD drive I replaced my iMac mid-2010? Is not an exact number, just a ball park figure.  I found a few DIY videos, make the repair, I just don't feel comfortable fact myself. I have an Apple Store 20 minutes from my house.  I tried to call Apple, but they tell me over the phone.  I am 100% positive it's HARD drive and I have a recent backup via time machine.

    Thanks in advance

The only way to make sure is to take in, but you already know that. I heard between $200 and $300

    • How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

You could see the report on the system by the use of a utility rather

System report in the following view.

If you choose to GO in the Finder menu bar and let it open utility

then choose the (utility) information system that offers all the info on

  • Memory for my iMac

    Hello

I have an iMac end 209 and I want to add more memory to it as it is slow. The vehicle currently has 2 x 2 GB. News said apple I can only add modules to 4 GB, but I saw others who talks about the addition of modules of 8GB.

It is possible on a newer mac or could I add 2 modules of 8GB to mine?

Also if I want to replace my 2 GB modules with adults, how can request I save my backup files, photo etc?

Thanks a lot for any advice Audrey

The upgrade of ram has no effect on your backed up files. That said, you play with fire if you do not have a backup strategy of work such as Time Machine or ordinary clones.

Only the end of 2009 11.1 i5 and i7 models iMac can treat fleas memory 8 GB for a maximum of 32 GB. If you have an i3 model 10.1 it can only address 4 GB of memory chips for a maximum of 16 GB. I have an i5 to end 2009 with 16 GB of ram and for my use, it's great. Only buy ram quality of suppliers such as http://eshop.macsales.com/ or Crucial http://www.crucial.com/ avoid OWC other bargain brands.

The computer iMac (early 2008) has two SDRAM slots in the bottom of the computer and comes with at least 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM installed into a slot. The maximum amount of RAM you can install in the computer is 4 GB (a 2 GB SO-DIMM in each slot).
