I'd lose the warranty if I install Linux

I would like to know if the repartitioning of HARD drive will involve the loss of the guarantee and the removal of windows?

Thanks in advance.

Hello jabbba, here's Jaba ;)

No! You will not lose the warranty and installation of Linux or HDD format will not affect warranty service!
You may lose your warranty service only if you would remove the laptop, or strives to upgrade using unsupported parts.

  • NB550D - 10G - do I lose the warranty after change of HARD drive?

I would like to change the HARD drive in my Toshiba NB550D - 10G for one SSD drive.
Could someone tell me if I lose my warranty after doing this? I would also like to know evolves from 1 GB ram to 2 GB would indeed lose the warranty?

No, I think that you that the warranty would be unaffected if you remove and replace the HARD drive.
The HARD drive and memory are parts extensible user and replace this part will not void the warranty.

  • x 360: delete the recovery partition after installing Linux

    Hello

My x 360 laptop with 10 Windows works fine. I just installed Linux dual boot (w. Windows 10) on three new partitions. The scores are as below. E, F, G partitions are Linux.

    I have these questions please:

    1. is the recovery partition (D) no longer, now that I have partitioned the disk? (I did a recovery USB flash drive when I bought the computer)

    2. is it safe to remove the recovery partition (D)?

    3. There is also a small partition of 980 MB. What is c? Is it safe to remove?

    Thank you

    YCC

Sorry, no.  You can not recover by using the HP Recovery partition after you change the partitioning scheme.

As it is now, you might as well delete it.

It will not hurt to remove it now because the HP Recovery works doesn'y work in any case.

I know Macrium Reflect can backup and restore Windows and Linux distros because I have tried it, myself.

    Good luck

  • Laptop HP pavellion g6 cleaning fan without losing the warranty.

    Hey

My laptop HP pavellion g6 2320tx seems pretty dirty now. Heating has increased compared to its previous state more recent. What I want is to get their mouths and cleaned the Interior cooling fan. I can disassemble the laptop and do what is necessary, but I'm afraid to lose the warranty on my product.

Is it possible for the customer to disassemble the product by himself well under warranty coverance? If something does not guarantee will be always good and the service will be free as long as it is supposed to be?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

Unless the laptop has some blocking really bad, you can use the method that I use and pretty much clean the fan/radiator completely area.

    1. remove the power a/c and the main battery of the laptop.

2 get a straight pin or something thin enough to pose by the fan of the air intake, then place the object between two of the fan blades to avoid that the fan is running.

3 spray a can of compressed air into the fan intake a few times and look at the blow of dust on the fan to exhaust air.

Spray the air in vent fan too and look for dust coming out of the fan intake.

Do this several times until you can't see dust coming out anyway.

I've never taken a notebook apart to clean the fan/radiator area and my notebooks all work efficiently and the fans rarely turn upward.

  • The host of windows 7, Linux on a virtual machine as a guest

    Greetings:

I want to install Virtual box with Linux as a guest on my laptop with windows 7 ultimate.

I have almost 2 GB of Ram.

I have to consider at least 512 MB for ubuntu.

What is a locked memory? in other words, even when I don't use VB with linux as a guest, host system can still not use full 2 GB of RAM?

also when I use (windows 7 ultimate) host and guest (ubuntu), I might add to virtual memory to keep the machine running slowly?

and one last question, then the installation of Virtual box I lose the internet connection after installing, everything will be fine? no problems?

    Thanks in advance

  • Can I install Win7 on Satellite C850-1GL without losing the warranty?

    Hello

    I bought a Toshiba C850-1GL with a pre installed Windows 8 a month ago.
Can I, as a professional (Integrator) reformat the HARD drive and then install Windows 7 without the warranty goes out?

    Sincerely.

Yes, I agree that the guarantee will be valid even if you install Win 7 or another system.

Furthermore the warranty does not cover problems in software but only material.

  • HP 250 G3: Hp 250 G3, install an SSD without for as much voiding the warranty?

    Hello everyone.

I have a new g3 250 hp with a 500 GB HD, but I would like to change and install an SSD. I was also told that it is sometimes possible to use the DVD to a secondary hard drive or an SSD drive space. It would be even better if it is assumed that it is possible on this model.

Problem is to install the SSD I have to basically disassemble the entire laptop, I suppose that this would invalidate the warranty and I want to keep because the computer is new.

    What can I do?

    Hello

The manual says replacement HHD the warranty because it's the job for parts of authorized service provider. You can download manual from the following link:

The it Department at my job have an image they put on work computers. We rent a new designer and they refuse to buy a new computer because they state that their image can be put on a new mac comes with El Capitan.

If you ask if they can just roll back the OS X in Yosemite, they said that this could void the warranty on the machine. Does anyone know if it's done?

You should not use an OS more old than what the computer shipped with.

  • Firefox is acting as it comes to install every morning when I wake up. He loses the privacy settings, home page and shows the start-up firfox and firefox home.

He also loses the addons, like personas. I tried to reset firefox and deleting the prefs.js. There is none of the other files mentioned in the article on how fix firefox does not save the settings. Every day that it starts with the Welcome to Firefox and Mozilla Firefox Start Page my homepage EVEN instead after I created my homepage and he remembers.

Once I saved the settings they are stored for the rest of the day, but when I wake up in the next day, POOF!, firefox forget what I did. I remember stuff like my bookmarks, history and tabs pinned, but he doesn't remember my privacy settings for him is not to suggest stuff on the address of my history and bookmarks toolbar.

As of the time of this message, I did not my settings for troubleshooting information are the status of firefox is in when I open it first from a morning. What the hell is happening?

What security (firewall, antivirus) software do you have?

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that can cause problems to protect and restore files in the Firefox profile folder.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

  • MacBook Pro stops when the lid closes, loses the open tabs and background image...

    Hi all

I recently had a new hard drive installed in my 2012 13-inch MacBook Pro. I am running El Capitan 10.11.2. Since then, my computer cuts automatically to the bottom when the lid is closed, losing all Web pages, and for some reason, some background, I've saved. (My browser is Mozilla Firefox and it prompts you to restore me the tabs lost, which he will).

The led standby does not blink or light up when the computer is turned on, it will turn on only at startup. At startup, the login page is displayed, and after that I entered my password it takes about 15 to 25 seconds to load and open my account. What is going on?!

    Summary:

Stop when the lid is closed,

Loses the background image & open Web pages.

    Standby blinks only when starting,

Time of loading extended after logging into my account.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot for reading.

Take it back to the repair as well as your receipt of repair shop.  Apple has a 90 day warranty on all repairs.

  • HP Pavilion 15-ab234nl: voiding the warranty

    Hi all

yesterday I got a new HP laptop and I want to install an SSD with a caddy, replacing the DVD drive.

My question is, if I do this replacement, the warranty? There isn't that one screw to remove to remove the DVD drive, so I don't have to diassemble the computer laptop everything.

    Thank you!

Understood. The optical drive is a replaceable item user simply remove the DVD drive and replace it with a caddy for one SSD/HDD can not void the warranty. However, you might want to reconsider putting a SSD in such a caddy. The interface is slower than usually used nowadays for the hard drives and SSD and you will lose the advantage of the speed of the SSD. If you want to add storage pure just get a mechanical hard drive much cheaper.

Based on the specifications of your laptop has a mechanical drive of 1 TB. What you really want to do, is put this SSD inside the 1 TB harddrive where now and put the 1 TB drive in the optical caddy. This is the optimal configuration.

See p. 49 of repair here:

    Manual

Opening at the back of the laptop is not technically end user, but it is not really difficult. HP will most likely not voiding the warranty as long as it's done without causing damage. If it was my cell phone, that's what I would do for her.

Before we do it do a system recovery disk so you can easily reinstall Windows to the SSD. After the back if you need some help with that. The disc in the optical box cannot be bootable, just so that you know who.
