I deleted the 'My Computer' icon on my desktop. How can I get it back?

I deleted the 'My Computer' icon on my desktop.  I'm unable to see new devices USB when I plug them in.  How can I solve this problem?

A lot of different ways to do this.

"My Computer" appears on the start menu? If so, just click-n-drag it to the desktop to create a new 'shortcut to My Computer' then rename it to delete the words "shortcut to.

If my computer is not on the start menu, right-click on the Start button and select Properties.  If you use the start menu XP (not the "Classic menu start), click the 'Customize' button then the"Advanced"tab  Select the appropriate entry of "Items on the start menu."

Or, download TweakUI for XP at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-xp

Run TweakUI, click "Desktop" and then check the icons to display on the desktop.
