I don't have a system recovery disk. I don't want to lose the data stored on my hard drive. The computer is running in SafeMode only. Need suggestions?

It is a HP touchscreen computer.  It runs on Vista Home Premium.  It is about 3 years old.

Hello

you use a flash drive or an external hard drive to copy your data

you plug a flash drive, etc. - to data you want to save - right-click on it - send the USB stick, etc.

Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

____________________________________________________________

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

for HP, you press F11 at startup

You should have the choice of a destructive or non-destructive restore

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

    Hello

There is no download available from Microsoft Vista.

Contact the manufacturer of your laptop and ask them to send a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key determines which Edition is installed.

Builders recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    See you soon.

p.s. If the old hard drive is still installed and running before you change on hard drives and you never received the to purchase recovery discs, you can make the recovery discs from the recovery Partition which should be on the old hard drive. You will need to request that the manufacturer how to do as each computer manufacturer has their own way of making records of this partition recovery.

It depends on the old hard drive still works.

  • How can I remove search gol of firefox? It is not in addons or extenstions and I'm worried reload firefox because I don't want to lose the darlings or the current session

I always use Google as my search engine of firefox.
However, I must have accidentally downloaded a file that has implemented the GOL research as my search engine and I want to get rid of it.
Info to do this strangely is not anywhere on google searches.
Mozilla told to go in addons/extensions etc, but the search engine is not listed anywhere.
I also uninstalled programs I recently downloaded but think this research-gol will not.
I'm worried of uninstalling firefox and put it back, I have about 500 Favorites and I don't want to lose them and my current browsing session.
Can someone tell me how to get rid of this annoying search engine garbage?

  • I have a HP Pavilion a1615.uk and I want to upgrade the hardware to run a 64-bit operating system.

I have a HP Pavilion a1615.uk (RF783AA) and I want to upgrade the hardware so I can install a 64-bit operating system. What should I do to make a 64-bit system? It is an upgrade of the bios or it means new equipment?

    Thank you very much

    Mrsbex

    Hello

Normally, for modern machines we only need the 64 bit operating system itself and the drivers appropriate to go with it. There is no need to upgrade the hardware except we may want more RAM to use the 64 bit OS.

In your case, the machine is too old, my suggestion is to buy a new machine. In the long run, can be cheaper than buying part and piece of component to upgrade the existing.

    Kind regards

  • My hard drive has disappeared and now I have a new without my old key - how can I get my data on my new hard drive?

all the data on my old hdd is lost after an accident. so I changed it with a new hard drive. but the old sync key is no longer available. I generated a new key so I lost my old date stored with synchronization... is possible to restore old data from my old drive hard key sync...?

Sorry, no. The SyncKey key is used for encryption / decryption during the synchronization process, without the key synchronization that was used to encrypt your personal data as it has been uploaded to the storage server Sync your data has no value. In addition, when you generate a new key for synchronization of an existing account, all data that are saved on the server for this account is removed for your safety.

Do you still have the old HDD? It can work long enough for you to extract your Firefox data, if you put this disc in a drive USB enclosure and access it as an external drive.

  • I can create a system recovery disk that gets installed and updated Windows 7, not the preinstalled HP Vista recovery Partition?

I have a laptop HP HDX 18 that had 64-bit Windows Vista installed, with a Vista recovery on his C drive Partition.  Since then, I installed clean 64-bit Windows 7 Professional of his Microsoft licensed DVD, that I still have.  I kept with all (200 +) of Windows updates.

Now, I want to create a system (Flash drive) for this laptop recovery disk, but my concern is that he will lead the recovery in its Partition Vista original, installed at the factory.   If I use W7 administration tools installed to create a system recovery disc, it will recover the old Windows Vista or Windows 7?  In addition, it would be nice to have a system recovery disk that had the latest W7.

I'm not looking to install the drive link below; However, I prefer the system recovery disk to restore my laptop to its W7 system most recently updated, rather than start over.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/installing-reinstalling-Windows#1TC=Windows-7

What choices do I have?  Where can I find the appropriate instructions?

Thank you very much for your help!

If you are the same person, you use 2 different profiles, not the same profile.

Sunspirit and jhughey are 2 different profiles.

  • Replacement of the main computer, don't want to lose all the data synchronized.

I use Firefox Sync with multiple devices at work and at home. My main computer, which is the original pc all data from first and I use to add new devices, is my work laptop. I'm being transferred across the country and no longer have this laptop.

I need somehow put up my home pc or my new laptop to work as the new main computer, but I don't want to lose all data. Should I export all the data from the laptop the existing work and import it on the new pc, then installed Sync all over again on my other devices (Mercury browser for iphone and ipad)? Or is there an easier way to do it?

    Thank you
    Jake

Hello, first of all please create a backup of your profile of your work pc folder, so that you have your data available in all cases: back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox

I do not think that there is something like a 'primary' feature in your accounts sync - all devices need to be at the height, you can simply delete your old laptop to sync & add the new laptop to the account:
Go to firefox > options > tab sync on your old laptop. Please make sure you as your user name, password of the account and the recovery key is known to you (you can access the recovery key under 'manage accounts' "-write it down if you haven't done so already '), then click on separate device in the Synchronize tab.

You can then add your new laptop to work on behalf of sync existing either by coupling a device while you're close to your pc at home or with your user account, password and recovery key.

  • Pavilion DV7: I don't have to incorrect recovery disks?

I have lost the recovery disks for my laptop.  I removed the battery cover and found the LM414AV product number and serial number 5CHXXXXXXX.  Using this information, I went to HP.com and place my order for a new set of recovery disks.  The next day, while waiting for my order to arrive, I accessed the BIOS screen.  The BIOS information showed the same serial number, however, display a number of different product that which was found in the battery compartment.  The BIOS displays the number of product LM726AV.  Why two different product numbers?  I don't have to incorrect recovery disks?  I'll be another $ 30 for another set of set of recovery disks?  Why no uniformity and consistency?  Why all this confusion?

A second set of recovery disks sent to solve the problem... so, 4.5 stars instead of 5

USIN a system recovery disk is much more serious that the use of Windows regenerate. You are lucky to have Windows 8 is installed.

Everything you need to know about using Windows refresh

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-PC

Once the operating system has been updated without affecting the files, you can perform a recovery from USB.

I'll change this and put in a video for you. There will be two options. Chooose the method of usb flash drive. This video is displayed with Windows 7. The procedure is almost identical. Open the charm of the search and the type of recovery and click the HP Media icon that appears.
