I downloaded "free" MS Removal Tool, then discovered their lie and I had to pay $59.95 to activate

MS Removal Tool has taken possession of my computer.  I downloaded what was advertised, fraudulently, as a 'free' program, only to find out that I had to pay $59.95 to activate it.  I refused, and then discovered that ANY of my programs worked, so I went back and I purchase, and then things started working.  Tehen, a screen came up with a license agreement, and I clicked 'CANCEL' instead of 'I AGREE';   once more, NONE of my programs worked so I tried to contact Microsoft, but it is almost impossible, where this note.  Any suggestions?  Complain to the FCC?  Forget Microsoft and go to Linux Ubuntu?  The problem is with my Dell 745 running Vista Business.  Since it is now inactdive, I'm typing this on my laptop with XP - Pro.  I also have a desktop IBM running Linux Ubuntu 10.10, and I love it.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this situation?  Microsoft is one of the many who use dishonest and deceitful tactics to 'hang' their 'brands...  Anyone else out there with experience with this tactic?
Thanks for your help.   If please answer on the forum and steer them to * address email is removed from the privacy *.

Secunia PSI shows now 100% on my programs updated and everything seems to work OK.

  • I downloaded the malware removal tool, but that it can not find on the list of programs, what good is it if I can't find it?

I want to launch this tool, but can't find it, but still my Microsoft Download list says that it has been installed successfly in September 2011

According to Noel, MSRT is run automatically when it is first downloaded from Windows Update.  If you want to run again for some reason, click Start, click Run, and then type the following in the Open box and click OK

    MRT.exe

The results will be in a text file named C:\Windows\debug\MRT.log

You can add switches: /? display information use
/ Q runs without user interface
    /N is only detect
/ F is full force sca
/ F: there did a full scan and automatically cleans infected files

    For more details, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Malicious_Software_Removal_Tool

Unlike typical antivirus software, MSRT does not get updated virus signatures.  A new version, with the latest integrated virus information, is offered each month from Windows Update.

  • is my compatible Windows 7 ultimate to download the Microsoft Security removal tool

my windows is Windows 7 Ultimate copyright 2009 service pack 1... 32-bit operating system
Is it compatible to download the Microsoft removal tool and Microsoft security scanner because I tried to download it but I can't run it. What will make to run it?

You are in violation of the terms of the Windows license, you accepted when you installed Windows - and could be pursued by MS if they wanted.

You must purchase a legal Windows 7 Ultimate license and install this OR go back to the original OS with which the machine has been delivered (if all - of many machines in this area are sold free of any OS on the expectation that users will install their own choice.) The fact that your machine seems not to have a COA sticker, it seems be one of those).

Yes the two site you mention can help with malware problems - but it is unlikely, once they are aware of the status of your license.

McAfee would help - but if installation has already been compromised, it may be too late for such a solution. If McAfee was already installed at the start of your problems, it was ineffective, either you had not updated.

  • Malicious software removal tool update problems the last few months. Suspended for a very long time. Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP2

    Hello

The last 3 months when the download and installation of my updates for Windows Vista, it gets stuck for hours on the malicious software removal tool. I have to cancel it. Restart the computer and reinstall. Then he moved very well and quickly according to historical updates. Last month, it was really difficult to cancell it well. He finally got through it. Here is a little history on my machine. I'm very very well with this computer. Each week, I do disk Cleanup, then defrag with diskeeper, virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials. And every six months, I run a very large disk check and I said to correct errors and try to fix bad sectors. More than 3 years, I only had 2 minor bluescreens. I always make sure I have all my products Microsoft put updated. When I first got this computer I had a guy I.T. (a neighbor) out of the box and clean all the useless garbage out of it and it partitioned the hard drive. More than 3 years, he managed as a champion. Always very fast and all.

I hope that I'm not the only person having problems with this. Just start with the month of June, then July, then August.

P.S. I have 2 laptops running XP sp3, one is 9 years old and the other is 11 years old, he had 2000 top PRO, but I just put XP sp3 on it last month. They run too much like fields. I take good care of my computers with a little help from my friend IT. They have the same programs as this one and I do the same things to them, but they do not have this same problem with the release of the MSRT tool. Which leads me to think that it is specific to Vista only, I have a Windows 7 computer yet, so I can't speak for seven.

Any suggestions or ideas? We are scratching our heads on this one.

Thank you in advance for your time and help

    Tim Kerr

Your misguided use of registry cleaners could have caused this behavior! If you ever think that your registry database must be cleaned, repaired, amplified, to the point, cured, twisted, fixed or optimized (it isn't), read http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions.

  • Malicious software removal tool x 64

In the past, I once let the windows install update of this program. Unaware of the headaches he did me after having to restart my computer. The program of the removal tool took just my computer and when he did 'searching for issues', I was then asked if I wanted these issues resovled I had to pay! Well, it would be very useful that in the future all understand that little information in the notes without that person agrees to this download. Personally, I found it is nothing more than an inexpensive way to sneak something into his computer and not fully disclose all the details on this product! At least give the user a choice to cancel the program if he or she choose to download this program. I spent that I tried to do and it wouldn't let me, it just ran its course and I really thought that I had a problem, when in fact I did not!

  • the spot removal tool does not work

    Hello

I am a new user of Lightroom 5 and everything goes smoothly apart from what happened this morning.

When you're under the Spot Removal Tool-, you have the Clone and heal options mode. They used to work perfectly until yesterday and today when I click on one of them that I go to the photo would report - to develop, he painted a white mark and when fined you it does nothing.

It allows to create a circle that you can move to select the texture and color that suits you. Now, this no longer appears. I must have pressed a button on the keyboard that caused this!

I tried to reset everything from this morning and nothing works... Please let me know how to solve this problem.

Much appreciated in advance... I will provide more details if necessary.

    Concerning

    Anthony

Looks like more of an issue.

To display the area of the source you want healing to come again, try pressing 'H', while the heal tool is selected.  You may need to press it several times.

If no healing does occur it sounds like you may have the opacity on the too, right tunred down.  Increase the opacity to 100 slider... or to whatever setting find you works.
