    Hello

I just wanted to calculate the size of the user profile folders in Windows 7 then I wrote a VBScript script that accepts the path of the file whose size is a subfolder must be calculated (in my case - C:\Users). The script runs without error, however, in the output that is a log file, I get the error 'Permission denied' instead of the size of the file. The script works very well under Windows XP where user profiles in "C:\Documents and settings".

Then can someone suggest a method to work around this additional security & get the user profile folder sizes in Windows 7 please?

    Original title: download error

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

It seems that you have problems with downloading files on the windows vista computer.

The description of the problem seems a little unclear and I wish I had a better understanding before you start working on it. I would appreciate if you can help me with the following information.

    1. what browser you use on the computer?

    2. What is the exact full error message?

    3. don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?

    4. deal with this problem if you try to download all files from online?

If you do this in the face of Internet Explorer help, I suggest that you should change the default download location and check if it helps.

    Method 1

In internet explorer, you can change the default location.

    Here's how:

    a. open internet explorer.

    b. click on Tools , then select view downloads.

    c. downloads for window, click Options.

    d. now, enter the default download location and click on the OK button.

Turn on the computer at the beginning of boot and check if the problem persists.

    Method 2

Perform a clean boot to see if no third-party service is causing the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: follow step 3 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.

Since you do not have an alternative account to Admin-level connect instead, the Council alone that we are allowed to give in this forum is to reinstall Windows *.

Don't bother with all the steps in the first answer above, because they will get you nowhere.

    * Assuming, of course, it's the Windows login screen that you are talking about.  You could put a password of BIOS for which you would have to seek advice from the manufacturer of your computer.

    Try the following.

Step 1: Try to start in safe mode. Check if you can login as administrator.

Step 2: If you are able to connect then to change the password and make other changes. Restart the computer in normal mode to see if you can connect.

  • Forgot my password for my Dell Inspiron 14r with Windows 8 OS

I can not connect on my computer of subject.  It's been a while since I've used and you forgot my password.

It is not connected to the internet and I only have wireless capability.

When I try to log in, it says that my password is incorrect for my ID and use the last password entered on this PC.

I don't have administrative authority and one administrator password.

I just need to go beyond the requirement of password, connect starter.  The PC starts, brings me to a page of beginning where I drag the screen (it's a type of touch screen PC) or just click on the mouse and it brings me to my ID and asks for my password.

Hope that there is a work around from there.  I haven't used this computer but maybe 3-4 hours in total and it's almost a year.  Guess I was just hesitant about learning a new operating system and stuck with my old PC.

Can someone walk me out there in the way to solve this problem?  Do not hesitate to contact me at my email of husbands, * address email is removed from the privacy * or phone 615-430-5030.  It is the computer savy who try to help me with my mistake - forget my password.

  • C: drive is full on the Windows XP computer.

Original title: min disk space required for xp work properly.

    like who want to know...

my c: drive is all more complete...

I'd be interested to see a report of Disk Defragmenter. Open Disk Defragmenter and click analysis. Select view report, and then click Save as and save. Now find VolumeC.txt in your My Documents folder. Open the file, and place the cursor anywhere in the file, select Edition, select all to select all the text and copy and paste into the body of your message. To do this, before you run Disk Defragmenter because it is more informative.

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Using the system restore option is most appropriate when your system is slow and you need to increase the free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors that could be solved by using the system restore to your system settings back to before the error occurred initially do not use this option.

If more than one person uses the computer and they have their own user log you need to run Disk Cleanup in each user profile that you want to delete all the unwanted files.

A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner. Delete System Restore points may be important if you have little free disk space. The ability to delete them is one of the tools options.

cCleaner comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors.

    http://www.CCleaner.com/download

You can create more free space in C in carrying one of the measures suggested below.

The default allocation for the restoration of the system is 12% on your C partition is more generous. I have them would be reduced by 700 MB. Make my computer right click on your icon, and select System Restore. Place the cursor on your C drive select settings but this time find the slider and drag it to the left until it shows 700 MB and output. When you get to the settings screen, click on apply and OK and leave.

A flaw that might be useless which is for temporary internet files, especially if you keep no copies on the disk offline. Setting the default value is 3% of the walk. Depending on your attitude to copies offline, you could bring it to 1% or 2%. In Internet Explorer, select Tools, Internet Options, general, temporary Internet files, settings to make the change. At the same time, look at the number of days, the story stands.

The default allocation for the basket is 10% of the disk. Change to 5%, which should be enough. In Windows Explorer hover over your Recycle Bin, right click and select Properties, Global and move the slider from 10% to 5%. However, try to let you become so complete that if it is complete and you delete a file by mistake it will bypass the Recycle Bin and have gone forever.

If your drive is formatted as NTFS another potential gain arises with your operating system on your C drive. In the Windows directory of your C partition you will some uninstall files in your Windows folder in general: $NtServicePackUninstall$ and $NtUninstallKB282010$ etc. These files can be compressed or not compressed. If compressed text the name of the folder appears in blue. If these files are not compressed you can compress. Right-click on each folder and select Properties, general, advanced, and check the box before you compress contents to save disk space. On the general tab, you can see the winning amount by deducting the size on disk size. File compression is only an option on an NTFS formatted disk partition / partition.

  • Problems with too many user profiles on computers Windows 7 Professional?

Is anyone aware of any issues related to Windows 7 computers when too many user profiles are created on the computer. I work in a school and I recently read an article by someone in another educational environment, indicating that they were having problems when too many profiles have been created on a computer.

Given that integrated user profiles manager only allows you to delete each one profile, it's almost an option to the volume of user profiles that exist in such a laboratory environment. Remove Group Policy Computer Configuration-> policies-> administrative templates-> system-> user-> user profiles profiles of a certain number of days on system restart
which exists in Server 2008 R2 does not.

    I appreciate your comments.
