  • Legal to use "For DISTRIBUTION only with a NEW or HP Compaq PC" CD sent AFTER the purchase of the REFURBISHED computers?

Several months after the purchase of a refurbished laptop factory small business HP,
I came across some problems that I have contacted HP.

HP sent me (with no extra charge) a set of 2 CDs, both marked
"For DISTRIBUTION only with a NEW HP or Compaq PC" (underlining)
and protected by HP (with portions by Microsoft).

The 2 CD of this set of CD XP Pro DR/OS were:
    Operating system CD
    Application and Driver Recovery DVD

    Since:
    1. the PC was a PC refurbished, rather than another.
    2. the CD set was sent AFTER my purchase, rather than be distributed with it.

I was always a little uneasy on this subject, but had never asked about it before.

Is it legal to use these CD with my PC HP refurbished?

    Thank you.

    -RJ, USA

The key words here are "HP refurbished factory."

That's why since you received the media to "HP" its legal. Recovery media is automatically sent to end users like you to a number of PC makers, with HP being one of many.

  • Can install it on other computers? -DVD - Windows for Distribution only with a new HP...

A hard drive is dead and the big computers have OS DVD provided with them these days. HP send me the disc as described above allowed me to rebuild the computer.

When another hard drive HP unfortunately dies can I use this disc to install the OS on this computer as well etc...

Disc 1 when run is looking at bios tattoo information, things like card mother number and windows version., they must match the recovery media otherwise it will install the bad elements as the drivers and software and cannot boot proeprly after recovery, so they prevent that.

I don't know anything to match the media for DSL model numbers.

    Purchase Vista key

Trying to install Vista from an older machine to run on Parallels on a Mac BookAir.  My sticker was destroyed by the heat of the old laptop, so how do I buy a new product key for Vista 32 bit?  All I can find on the Microsoft site is for the purchase of 7.

    (1) does not allow a key OEM of one machine on the other, in any case - so that Rules that option, even if you could read the key.

Why do you want a Vista key in particular?

    Thank you.

Not OK then, no problem using the Pro Pack. Windows 8 Pro Pack will modernize your latest edition to Windows 8 Pro. This will convert your license in a license to retail that has not expired.

Most new computers for the last years came with a trial version of Office that lets 'x' number of days usuage.

After this test times out, you will have to buy Office.

And the product key on the cover of laptop for the Windows operating system, not for the desktop Suite.

Sometimes, it might be the battery, or below.  Sometimes they include it in a separate box with the recovery CD disks.  It's the PC manufacturer to decide how they want to, so you will need to call and ask them in particular.  Sorry, we can't be more helpful here.

    Hello

You will need to purchase a license/disk/upgrade Windows 7 product key.

Microsoft sells more Windows 7 and you would have to buy from Amazon, etc.

There was a free upgrade offer, but it expired a long time ago:

"The Windows 7 upgrade Option is available through participating PC manufacturers on some PC and Microsoft on any purchase of packaged product Windows Vista. The Windows 7 upgrade Option applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions. Your upgrade to Windows 7 will be the comparable version: so you will get either Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional (upgrade to Windows Vista Business) or Windows 7 Ultimate, respectively. The Windows 7 upgrade Option program works on June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010. Some manufacturers may choose to shorten the time of upgrade Option. »
