Recently, I lost internet because of configuration problems. Who is fixed and now I'm able to go back to the internet. But now, whenever I start my computer, rather than make the home and get into windows, I get a black screen that says that it is a screen of recovery console for windows and need to enter an administrative password. I have to go to F8 to go to start windows normally, whenever I turn it on. Can someone help me with this problem?

Looks like you need rebuild your file "boot.ini". This article should help you get into your Recovery Console:

Hi all

Thank you for the support.

I solved the problem by unplugging the cable from the hard drive inside the CPU and connected again. All is well now.

If the system is not the start or make obstruction to the start-up stage, you can try the same thing.

All the best.

• When I start my computer it say about window/system32/drivers/atapi.sys is missing or damaged. How can I fix?

I received the error 0xc0000098. It tells me to insert the windows disk of vista that came with my computer, and when the load cd prompt tells me to repair my computer, I did it or not this result more than once. I can always get on my computer, however and connect to windows vista. However if I don't close my computer property (Hold in the power button until it stops) the message back please help me that I'm not sure what's going on?

Hello

ATAPI.sys is a cable of the controller driver, and it is probably corrupt or be damaged when you stop correctly.

First of all, start to close properly, don't hold simply the power. Do not close properly, it's like running your car into a brick wall to stop. You may be able to restart, but you did damage that could possibly be irreparable.

Second, follow these steps to repair the corrupted file: click on start and type CMD, then right click on the entry that appears in the start menu and choose 'run as administrator '. Click on continue in the UAC prompt. Then, from the command line, run:

sfc/scannow

It will take time to run and do not use the system while it is. Once completed, restart the system and see if the error persists. Good luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Crazy" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org

Hi smiley1958,

1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
2. When was the last time it was working fine?

Method 1

Usually, this would happen if the system basic input/output system (BIOS) settings are incorrect.

See the link on the Dell forums and try the steps mentioned, check if it helps.

Method 2

If the previous step fails, then you will need to contact Dell support to fix the settings in the basic input/output system (BIOS).

Important: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You can try those Microsoft committed the 'experts' ideas Support Engineer (1, 2, 3) for safe, clean boot Mode, Online Scanner, but I think that most of the people who know how XP would recognize that there is no component 'V protect' in Windows XP and a simple search Google reveals that your problem is with your AVG software and has nothing to do with Windows XP.

You should look in their forums (like me) and here's what they suggest:

Vprotect belongs to AVG Security Toolbar.
Please try to run repair installation using the latest installation package.

If the problem persists, please follow all the steps in the instructions to complete reinstallation .

I think that if I were you, I would follow the instructions on the page AVG to uninstall and reinstall your AVG because there may be other parts of AVG who are afflicted that you have not yet discovered, but in AVG, some people with V forums protect problems find that AVG repair install works.

• When I start my computer I get a message that says that the file < root windows > \system32\hal.dll. is damaged or missing.

file HAL.dll

When I start my computer I get a message that says that the file \system32\hal.dll. is damaged or missing. Please reinstall a copy of the file. I have the original Windows XP CD and I tried to re - install, but it will not go beyond the implementation of window. I can't sign in to windows. How can I reintall this file?

It's extremely likely that you will need to replace the hal.dll and since there are seven files on the XP installation CD that will extend into hal.dll, which would you choose? It depends on your hardware, but it is extremely likely that the problem (did I already say that?). I've never had to replace a file hal.dll for this problem.

The real problem is most likely that XP just can not find the file because of a file system corruption or a file c:\boot.ini afflicted.

For this error, I would always be first boot from the XP Recovery Console and sometimes run a chkdsk-r that will fix things right to the top.

If the chkdsk /r is clean and you have the same problem, and then re-create your c:\boot.ini file but rename the old one first so you don't build on top of those afflicted - this tidbit is absent from MS KB article that assumes too.

You can do all this in the XP Recovery Console, but do go through these methods in this article and see how you go.

For example, method 1 will not work if your system does not start. You may have more luck with other "methods".

If that doesn't work, then I suggest to provide a little more information about your system:

Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system. Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Your system have IDE or SATA disks?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a real installation CD bootable XP which is the same Service Pack as your installed Service Pack? (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Press Ctrl-Shift-Escape and go to the Startup tab to view all the things that load at startup. One of those who is going to be the cause of this view occurs. Sometimes it's easy to sort by name, it sometimes takes a few tests to know who is who.
