  • Windows updates fails, get "Error 1327 Invalid Drive/M" error when trying to install updates by using the stand-alone packages.

Original title: I deleted the files from automatic update and windows update keeps trying to install

I've done an update for a long time on an old computer unused spare XP and Windows Update said that he had to update a large number of files, so I have left to download and install.  Once the 45 updates completed, I rebooted as instructed and proceeded to clean a lot of old data.  Apparently I deleted (7) files for Office M/S that must be installed, because the Winows Update icon in the status bar telling me I had 7 sto update to install.

Now Win Update always tells me that the files should be updated and starts the process, telling me that they are already downloaded, but it fails every time because they are not where they should be, as I deleted them without meaning to.  How can I do the update for these startup files, or where can I get the appropriate files to allow the update work properly?

Yes, I know it was stupid, but this is the frist time that I asked for help from Windows 3.1, so I don't feel too bad.

I have download the individual Ko * .exe files support, but get an error 1327 Invalid drive / M error whenever I try to install one of them.

    Thank you

Receive error 1327.Invalid Drive: H:\ installing Pinnacle Studio 14 download. I have Pinnacle Studio 12 installed. Pinnacle response: you receive the error message is not an error of Studio, but a Microsoft error message. This problem may occur if a registry key contains an incorrect value in a data field. The best thing to do in this case is to contact Microsoft and they should provide a solution for this error: www.microsoft.com.  I found where this issue occurred with some Microsoft products, installation, but do not know how to fix once I get into the registry editing.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader Installation Error 1327: invalid drive mapped to a user folder

Try to install Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows 8 so that I can make the PDF Renseignez form (which doesn't seem to work with the default player Win8 app). I get the following error in the installation of Adobe:

Error 1327.Invalid Drive: P:\ mapped to a user folder. The drive does not exist or could not be connected. You can disconnect the drive or reassign the drive letter. For more information, see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404946.html

I have P:\ drive mapped to a folder on my corporate network offline indeed. Following the instructions on the web site indicated always is not allow installation.

    Any ideas?

    David

I know this post is very old, but it is the top google result when searching on this question, so I thought that a useful response would be in order.  I also had this problem, but I discovered the problem in the way I had my place set for My Documents, my pictures, etc..

Short answer, you must use UNC paths for mapping.

Longer answer - like you, I have a House (in my case sup) drive connected to my network of the company.  So, I can navigate to U:\Documents.  I had put the location of my documents (and other user files) to U:\Documents, well it worked most of the time it's really not the right way to do it.  If you open your drive mapped in file Explorer, the window title bar will show you the UNC patch.  It will look something like this: yourUsername (\\servername\home$).  Set the location of your My Documents, etc. to match - for example, to \\servername\home$\yourUsername\Documents

Note that you can not change just the My Documents - you must fix all of your user files that point to a network drive letter (C:\Users\blah bla... is fine) in the format of a UNC path instead.  Then re-run the installation of acrobat and you should be golden.  If the foregoing makes no sense to you, or you do not have the required privileges on your workstation, talk to your resource and they will be able to sort it out for you.

  • Error 1327.Invalid Drive: G:\ during installation of the software

A program I had on my computer wouldn't work the other day when I tried it.  Help on software site says he uses Microsoft WSE 3.0 runtime and to make sure it was on my computer.  It wasn't that I downloaded and tried to install it and got the same message I have original received at the start of this process.

    Hey Bill,.

Try the steps of Miller - technician technical support of the http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/error-1327-invalid-drive-g-when-i-try-to-install-a/ccb3a5bf-9d38-4b1c-8f33-d6a53b1c1a36 link and see if that helps.

If the problem persists, try changing the drive letter G:\ to some other letter as a work-around.

    a. press the 'Windows' and 'R' at the same time and type "diskmgmt.msc" in the prompt to run it to open the disk management window.

    b. right click on the drive G:\ and select "Change Drive Letter and paths".

    c. to change a drive letter, click change, click on assign the following drive letter, click the letter you want to use and then click OK.

    d. restart the computer to ensure that the changes are applied.

    Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/change-add-or-remove-a-drive-letter

You can also try the steps in the KB Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327763 article which has worked for some users with the installation of the software.

Note: The steps from the link will work for any installation of software/program that uses a disk. Because the steps deal with the registry editor, we recommend that you take a backup of the registry before performing the steps. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry
