I get error: "the file or the C:\$Secure directory is corrupted and unreadable" after running chkdsk.

I ran chkdsk utility and he stopped to say that I had a hard drive error or something like that. so I cancelled it. now I get all these things popping up that says ' the file or the C:\$Secure directory is corrupted and unreadable please run the chkdsk utility.» My question is if I run it again and it stops I have to do? I also need to know why I get the installer of windows popping up for office 2003, when I already have? I tried to reinstall with a drive, but my computer won't let me?

What you need to do before anything else, it's everything and nothing important to you and to the stability of the machine (your ability to rebuild from scratch) backup because chances are - you will be rebuilding this computer from scratch and everything on this hard drive will be erased.

  • Windows 7, Sysprep after getting an error "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

    When I run Sysprep on this Dell Latitude E6520 with Windows 7 (x 64) professional, then boot into Windows PE to create a picture, he said "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

    I made sure to restart 3 times before I ran sysprep this time because this is the 2nd time I got the error above.  Every time it reboots normally and the question obviously didn't happen until I ran sysprep.
    The last time I had to delete the partition and re - format and start over. Fortunately I took a picture of this time right front of sysprep.
    I even tried the Windows 7 installation disc to repair the MBR and the boot record, but he said he couldn't fix it, and he can't read this partition at all.
    I thought also it could be a bad drive on this computer brand new, but I ran the diagnostics on the hard drive and there are no errors.

    I have a very new computer with Windows 7 Professional, and two weeks ago, he had a critical update.  Since then, McAfee has had problems.  I corrected McAfee, but yesterday, when I turned on the computer, I received a message that my windows is not genuine.  I accidentally clicked Ignore (or activate later) button instead of the activation button.  Now none of the software or applications to work and I can't get the computer to any previous dates because of the message: file or directory is corrupted and unreadable 0 x 80070570.

    I checked today and my Windows 7 is genuine.

    Buy a new HARD drive . Your HARD drive is dying:

    //
    MessageId: STATUS_IN_PAGE_ERROR
    //
    MessageText:
    //
    The instruction at 0 x %p memory referenced to 0 x % the required data has not been placed in memory due to a State of error / 0 x %x.
    //
    #define STATUS_IN_PAGE_ERROR ((NTSTATUS)0xC0000006 L)

    Windows cannot read data from the HARD drive, that's why you got the errors.

    If this does not work, what is the exact path of the folder and the foldername (C:\Users\\Documents\Bad folder or something else)?  You can open this folder or it gives you a different error message (If Yes, what does EXACTLY)?

  • \System Volume Information\ Sand.CFD corrupted file is corrupt and unreadeable please run Chkdsk utility

    Run the Chkdsk utility, but the error message is displayed the next time I start up.  How can I fix it?  I contacted Norton and they said it was a Windows problem.

    You probably had a good reason to get in touch with Norton, especially if the name of the file in question is in fact lightningsand.cfd.

    From what I can tell, it's a file placed in the directory SVI by some applications of 'security' Norton and (b) may be an encrypted file "Cryptoforge" (which sounds like something Symantec would do).

    I suggest that you completely uninstall your applications Norton following the directions here: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080710133834EN&ln=en_US if you really want to reinstall Norton applications, make sure you have both your multimedia installation and product key (s).

  • Receive the error "E: is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable.

    Original title: USBnot work

    Today, I inserted a USB key works perfectly in my laptop computer and got this message:

    "E: is not accessible. () The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable.

    Ideas of how this could be everything and no matter what suggestions how to fix it?

    I use an Acer laptop E1-522 (a new one that just came back from the manufacturer after warranty repairs and also had a technician called and insert a new hard drive because of problems with product key).

    I use Windows 8.1 and have used Internet explore and currently using Firefox as my browser (same questions with both browsers).

    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry, I don't remember the sequence that I used, but messages asked me to change the drive letter of the drive that I was using, so I changed it from E to F. He has not made a difference, because I always get a message "the disk is damaged or unreadable. Finally, I formatted, so I guess it should be the end of the story. I got lucky that didn't not lose all the useful data.

    Thanks for your help. I very much appreciate the way in which people help "technologically challenged" people like me.

    Hi helzf,

    You can try to run a Checkdisk on drive E to fix disk errors that can cause this problem. You can make a backup of the data on this drive and try to run checkdisk.

    Check out the link:

    Check your hard drive for errors

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

    Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Error 0 x 80070571: the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable

    I recently had an error message saying "error 0 x 80070571: the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable," in reference to C:. I tried chkdsk oh so many times. No change.

    Recently, I was able to access the C: files sporadically. Occasionally, sometimes not. However, I can access my files in safe mode.

    When I start in normal mode, the system is acting funny. I will try to describe. It starts very well, go anyway for the office and everything. Sometimes, I am able to use the laptop for a few minutes until everything freezes but the cursor; nothing else responds, even not ctrl + alt + delete. Other times, I'm still not that chance. You know how pointing the cursor on an icon temporarily highlights the icon? Highlight the thing is sometimes just to block the system. Once locked, all I can do is hold down the power button.

    I tried the system restore, but it never once helped me with the cause of the system error.

    I also deleted some programs out of the startup list. Not sure if this would have an effect.
    I am running Vista Home on a HP Pavilion dv5.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I tried all three methods.

    Methods 1 and 2 have helped for a while, but not long. Method 3 found nothing.

    The only solution I can think of is to backup my personal files, then do a system format. Before you do a format, is there anything else that you could recommend?
