  It seems that you have installed Acrobat XI pro as an upgrade and an upgrade you will need a serial number for a product older Acrobat X, etc. 9:

  Also, I checked with your Adobe ID on the forums and I can only locate XI of Acrobat pro upgrade recorded, please check if you have registered an earlier version of Acrobat on some another email to get this serial number.

  you will need serial number of your previous version.  There is no work around.

  There may be ways to recover serial number depending on whether lr5 is currently installed on a computer (old) or you bought lr5 where saved from adobe.

  It shows the message you have purchased an upgrade license, and it asks you to select the older version that you upgraded and provide older version serial number as proof that you are eligible to use the upgrade.

  your lr 6 is an upgrade of a precedent (for example, lr 5) version.

  After you have entered your serial number lr6 you will be presented with a drop-down list of eligible products.  Select the ones you have.  then you will be prompted for the qualification (that is to say, older) serial number of the product.

  Enter the correct number at the right time and proceed with the installation.

  A bit of history which could be related, I remember that I originally bought first Pro CS5 from someone on ebay, not knowing that it was a Mac version, which would not work on my PC - so I contacted Adobe and upgraded to CS6 for Windows at a lower cost. I see in MY PRODUCTS there is a serial number for the two "Adobe Premier Pro" version 5 for MAC and Version 6 for Windows.

  I wanted to buy Adobe Acrobat, and somehow the download wound which is apparently an upgrade. So, now I get this error message and my ~ $170 purchase is apparently useless at the moment. Someone tell me please I na not to lose my money, and in fact, I can USE the software that I just bought.

  This message indicates that the license you have (serial number) is a the CS6 upgrade version... you must provide information about the older product that you upgraded.  There should be a drop down menu where you can select the older version and a section to get the older version serial numbers.

  You must then manually change in "Full" (or if you buy an upgrade, you must select an option of "I have")

  You leave on upgrade and then select an option in the drop down "I have", then complete your purchase without realizing that you were not eligible?
