  When you use Windows Movie Maker - the application generates the error message "Windows movie maker has stopped working" and close.  What happened several times.  What can I do to prevent this?  I use Windows 7 and Movie Maker 2011.

  Not sure, but have you tried to reinstall WLMM, or perhaps fix?

  See - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938275/en-gb and try the repair option first.

  Also, make sure that your graphics card and your PC sound card drivers are up to date. Go to the manufacturers technical support for your PC brand and model site and see if there are newer drivers supported. If there is, and the repair does not help, try them. Make a restore point on your PC first, and if you like you should be able to "roll back" to your existing installation if you need to.

  You can also try a SFC/scannow to see if that detects and repairs problems of any OS if the above does not help.

  Well, I was very happy when the program doesn't stop after following your advice and unchecking above named filter. But then, after it scans the file (which is a progress!), he says he cannot continue because one or more of the files contains a codec that is not supported by AutoMovie.   To save only the audio track of a video clip.

  For the timeline, drag the video to the
  Track "Audio / Music. Then type... Caviggia Ctrl + P.
  Reach... File / save movie file / ect... ect...

  This will result in a file audio .wma. Do not forget

  The boot routine can be tried later if you wish, it is more than a General diagnostic procedure.  Your latest information makes me think it could be a type of Codec problem, but I'm not 100% sure of that either, however check that might be worth a try?
