It gets really annoying. The very first 2 or 3 times I opened a new tab, I get this error message and
I have to close and open a new one until I get a tab that works. Anyone who can help is greatly appreciated.

    I did the following in all possible combinations in an attempt to install these updates:

    Disabled user account control

    turned off the Windows Firewall

    disabled my antivirus (Avira Anti - Vir Personal)

    To put it succinctly, I can't think of anything to do after following all of the ideas, tips & suggestions help Section!

    Help, please! All I can think to do now is to get some black candles and sacrifice a rubber chicken!

    These are actually separate settings internally, unless you use an add-on to replace.

    Here's how you can change your new tab page:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

    Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?

    If the problems persist, some potential diagnoses and remedies:

    If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system. This must be removed the control panel.

    Custom new tab

    It is easy to enter your favourite homepage address. I had to leave Firefox and start it up again before new custom tab started working, but this may have been due to tests so many extensions back to back.

  • I get the Windows Update error 80070005 error message when you try to update my Windows 7 to Windows 10.

    I recently tried updates of Windows 7 10 and received the above error.  Did a google search and came up with the joint - CMD file which I've run in administrator mode.  It seems did not make my system better.  Any suggestions?

    And the CMD file resets all security settings to what they should be?

  • Get the "Access denied" error when you try to play all video files in another folder on my external hard drive.

    A couple of days, I've had accidentally one of the folders slipped on my hard drive in the folder above him and was presented with the "Access denied" error messages when I tried the two a) reglisser it out & b) open it from the record she had been driven to (which was not a folder of my making that is a jibberish titled folder containing two .vdm files it contains first)

    After receiving advice of a friend, I did a restore from safe mode on the eve of the day when he moved and he did bring him back with all the files and files in the right place, but now I'm getting an access denied for each file, I try to play. Whether Real Player, Windows Media Player etc none will play.

    Just to test, I slipped a .avi file in the folder to see if he was going to play and he did it can be the folder settings, I'm just hoping that all these files are now not corrupted and unplayable as I have some 180 GB of data in this folder in more than 1000 files.

    Any help is very appreciated.

    What format of your hard drive is formatted to?

    You can check the version/service pack:

    ·         Click Start

    ·         Right click my computer

    ·         Click on Properties

    ·         On the general tab, under System: you will see your information

    For example: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

    You can check what is the format of your hard drive is:

    ·         Click Start

    ·         Click on my computer

    ·         Right click on Local disk (c) (or letter that contains your operating system)

    ·         Click on Properties

    ·         On the general tab, next to file system: you will see the format of your hard drive (Fat32 or NTFS)

  • Hello. Downloads has changed; I can't open or download attachments. I don't get the window that asked to 'Open' or 'Save', or the other.

    When I receive a document attached (Word or OpenOffice), I click on it. I get a Norton Antivirus window that says it is clear and I click on the yellow button to download it. Nothing happens. 1. I don't get windows that asked to open? or save? 2. the documents are not in the download folder. 3. I have reset my documents downloads - nothing appears here either. 4. I'm looking for my iMac with file names, and no result appears.

    Current system under Windows XP SP3 Gets the error message "0x8024D007" from Windows Update.  I tried methods 1 and 2 described in the Article 956701 but the same error occurs.  Also used REGSVR32 /u to unregister the WUPS2. DLL (mod date 2008-10-16), rename WUPS2. DLL to WUPS2. DLL.old, then copy WUPS2. DLL (mod date 06/08/2009) of a system of SP3 to update and record; This also fails with the error message "0x8024D007.

    Question: Can SP3 be removed and reinstalled without affecting existing applications that may have been installed under SP3?  I ordered SP3 on CD and that you plan to use it to reinstall.

    When you have access to the computer, your list includes:

    1. ask your son if IE7 had been installed before he did the repair facility a few years; and if that were the case, it uninstall IE7 before proceeding with the repair facility?
