I got a new hard drive from apple. They have updated to El Capitan. This affects how I restore from time machine? A full restore allows you to copy on the new operating system?

can I use time machine to restore everything, only the data, not the operating system

Why would you go back to a previous operating system when you just got a new hard drive with the new operating system on it?

  • How can I download and install the latest version of Safari without having to install the current operating system?

I just bought a MBP of 2013 (MacBookPro) renovated with OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) and want to update my Safari (version 7.0.5) the latest version of Safari. I tried to download Safari from Apple's site, but he said that I would also install the current OSX (10.11 El Capitan) as well. I want my MBP to stay on OSX 10.9 (because it is the last operating system that supports Adobe Creative Suite CS6).

Can someone advise me on where I can download ONLY the last Safari?

    Thank you

    Steve

You cannot run the last Safari on Mac OS 10.9.

It requires the latest Mac OS (10.11)

You can create a new partition and install the latest OS above and use it.

Then the Mavericks partition boot when you want to use Adobe Creative Suite.

    Hello

I suggest you go through the steps and check if it helps.

    Right click on my computer

    (a) click on properties

    (b) go to the Advanced tab

    (c) click on settings under startup & recovery

    (d) change the seconds to display the operating system to 0

    (e) to the operating system you want to start the default operating system to help the drop drop-down

    (f) click Ok

    (g) click on apply

    (h) click Ok

I would also ask you to contact the manufacturer of the hardware for the recovery media. You can also check if the system has a recovery partition, and if so, try to access, which will reinstall the original operating system.

  • Merger VMDK file after restoring from time machine recognized not

    Hello

I'm having a problem with Fusion 3.1 recognizes no not my Virtual Machine copied from time machine. I did what I did and the below error code.

Question: I just installed a new hard drive and performed a clean installation of Fusion 3.1. After that, I used time machine to restore my virtual machine to Windows 7 x 64 at the previous address. I then open vmware fusion and looked for the virtual machine and click Open. The virtual tried to start but I received the following error message:

    Could not open the file "/ users / / Documents/Windows 7 x64.vmwarevm/Windows 7 x64.vmdk ': the system cannot find the specified file.

I checked the contents of the package, Windows 7 x64.vmwarevm and the file is there. I don't know why he is not recognized. I have attached a screenshot of the file hard text, text log file and the contents of the package.

    Thanks for your help.

WoodyZ - is there a way I can rebuild this section?

If you can find the file "Windows 7 x 64 - s010.vmdk" within the structure of the backup folder Time Machine which is closest to you, you might get lucky, but really all depends on what exactly in this segment of the disc.  I use the find command in a Terminal to find this file because I do not think that you will find with Spotlight.  If you can find the file "Windows 7 x 64 - s010.vmdk", then in an attempt to at least be able to mount the drive with VMDKMounter in order to try to recover all the data, you can you can always replace the file "Windows 7 x 64 - s010.vmdk" with a segment of fake or another as duplicate file "Windows 7 x 64 - s011.vmdk" and rename it file "Windows 7 x 64 - s010.vmdk.  FWIW, it will really depend on exactly what was in the file "Windows 7 x 64 - s010.vmdk" about what you might be able to recover with VMDKMounter or even to start the Virtual Machine.  I actually had the results mixed in the past where only data could be retrieved and cases where all data have been recovered and in some of these cases, the Virtual Machine is bootable and in some not so it all comes down to what was in the missing segment.

At this point you have nothing to lose and everything to win then to give a try.

If you have created a set of recovery software at startup. Press on enter and choose launch VAIO Recovery Center.

  • I upgraded my computer, the new operating system on a new hard drive. Want to get my favorites on Firefox off my old drive, but can't find the file.

I upgraded my computer, adding a second hard disk for a new operating system and kept the old drive as a data disc. I assumed that I could install Firefox on the new disk and import my favorites from the old installation of Mozilla on the old disk. I can't find the files on the old drive with my favorites. They're still here, or when I reinstalled Firefox, I lost everything even if it was on another drive? I can't find the backup on the old disk files and want to restore my old favorites. Is it possible to do this?

You must find your profile folder in the old drive, the way in which must be:

    1. First display the hidden files and folders:

    2. Then go to:
      • < old drive >: \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles \Users\ < username >
    3. Enter in your profile, and then enter the folder bookmarkbackups .
    4. Copy the latest file from json (backup of bookmarks)
    5. Then restore from them:
  • Hard drive partition and install the new operating system

    HY,

If I partition my hard drive and I install a new OS (E.g. Ubuntu 14.04) my warranty ends?

    Thank you

    SA

    Hello

No, it will not void the warranty but HP only supports the problems with the original operating system and prove the operation of the equipment of the original OS.

Do the recovery disks and keep them safe before so that you could go back to factory settings if there is no problem of partitioning.

Recovery partition usually works after partitioning, depends on your luck, but you could make the 'Active' Partition in disk management and try for recovery if it works or not.

    Thank you...

    Hello

In this case, you can delete the partitions - as you have already removed the original operating system, you would not be able to create a set of recovery discs from the recovery Partition that you have lost the application Recovery Manager required to create, but you can always order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you ever need it, the HP_TOOLS partition can be re-created by downloading and installing the software on the link below.

I want to move my hard drive from a computer with a motherboard dead to a newer machine.  The activation process failed.  How can I get the operating system XP Professional sp3 reactive?  I have the code original and other info.

original title: Moving the death machine drive

    Hello CarrolScott,

The activation problem arose because the hardware on your current computer does not match that of the hardware on the machine whose mother is dead.

The best option for the reactivation is to use the telephone line. This, unfortunately, is automated and may refuse to turn on your system; However, don't despair just rest on the line after the automated atcivation crossed its procedure and you will be transferred to a real person. Tell this person you've done, and it should be able to help activate.

  • When installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system?

Have a Dell system, caught a virus and it has really messed up the PC. Recently, it got worse so I tried to reinstall the operating system with the Dell disks. It wouldn't work. So I bought for Windows 7 Professional, it will not be installed. My first question when installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system? Because this does the same as the Dell disks, is to take what is on the hard drive and put it in a folder called windows old, is not formatting the HD. When I boot the disk, it shows the installation of files then open windows and start the installation. Before he could finish I get an error missing or corrupted files. Tried several times now, windows will still not open. Any suggestions? Once while trying to install the pc crashed with a blue screen which is one of the reasons why I have reinstall the OS, he started to plant a few times. I don't remember all the details on my PC, but its 4 years, triple core coprocessors, ram 8 GB, 500 GB HD. At the same time just after all this started in Jan. I had also improved my 3 GB to 8 GB memory. I bought the Dell memory for my system. Since the crash, could there be a problem with these new memory chips? Last night I tried to disassemble each and reinstalling it, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Before I tried to reinstall the operating system, the pc was see the concert 8.

Disconnect any other (additional) internal hard drives and external USB devices.
Look for any loose hard drive power or cables SATA, graphics card or other power cables.

    First run Memtest86 +:
It runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memory
sticks are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.
