I got screwed by someone on purpose!

Bought a nice hp Compaq 6510 b laptop on eBay.  Came with no OS... just a complete installation of Win 7 Home Premium.  I installed it.  He did not partition D:\ and running so SLOW it's unusable.  After research, I discovered that this material is not extensible to Win 7!  However, I activated my Windows 7 when I installed it.  I think formatting the HD to install a functional OS.   Microsoft will issue me a new COA for a complete installation of Windows 7 now?  The one that I can't use.  If you think that WHAT in the world should I go for?

Oh, to answer your question about move it to another computer, based on your description it seems to be a license to retail sales which can be transferred to another computer.

    I understand that your contacts are not in alphabetical order.  Depending on whether you want to view by the first or last name, make sure that sort and order of two display show all first, last or last, first.

    • Change how long names are abbreviated in the lists

    I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom and it always appears.

    It may be a bad plugin. Try disabling all plugins, then by restarting LR.  To disable the plugins:

    1 file > plug-in Manager

    2. Select a plugin in the left column.

    3. in the right column, scroll down to the Status section.

    4. If necessary, expand the section status by clicking on the triangle to the left of the 'status '.

    5. click on disable.

    If you n t know the password you need to reinstall Windows.
    There are some informal means to clear the password, but it s not sure it would work. You can Google for it and maybe you'll find a good work around.

  • Screwed on "Anytime Upgrade".

    So I used this old Toshiba NB255 with Windows 7 Starter Edition. I bought about 2 years ago and I use it only when the woman is on the pc, or if she needs to print additional coupons. I was screwing around with him about a month ago and I found the guests "upgrading at any time". I followed the instructions, thinking maybe it was a play upgrade, or a ploy to get you to buy a new version. I clicked on a few buttons, nothing of prompting me to pay, or indicate a 'cost '. Before I knew it my laptop has been installing Windows Home Premium. Sweet, I thought. Everything is stopped a month later. A prompt saying invalid key, please validate now, etc. I try to validate and it won't. I will discuss with Arnold O support and he said, well, 'it was a paid version that you upgraded. You must purchase the key. "I don't know why it lets you just upgraded without buying the key", blah, blah, blah. I argued I wouldn't have updated if I had known that it would cost, and his answer was just... Sorry, you can't go back to Starter edition, your only option is to buy the key... Really, who is my only option? I got screwed by Microsoft.

  • Anyone using iTunes game on 10.5.8?

    I'm looking for people who are music Apple and iTunes game subscribers who use the game on the old Mac, specifically the machines running 10.5.8 - I really need some advice, or better yet reassuring, just what I'm trying to do.

    My main machine is an iMac running Yosemite 2011 & and iTunes 12.4.1.6. I am a subscriber of Apple's music as well as a game of iTunes Subscriber and I am VERY picky about my library... I have invested a lot of time in my music over the last decade (sides, custom illustrations, lyrics, metadata, etc)-I would be absolutely devastated if my library got screwed up somehow.

    Now I have this old PPC PowerBook G4 bearing around which cannot not be updated all other than 10.5.8 and so has iTunes 10.6.3 installed (the most "current version" for this system, as far as I know). This laptop has not been used much in the last two years, but he is still going strong, and so I decided to reactivate it. Today, I realized that iTunes game is actually supported by iTunes 10.6.3, so I created a new library empty and lit Match, just to see if it would work. And to my surprise it worked: all my music is there, all works of art, everything looks great. Only the titles of music Apple are greyed out off course - they have the status 'pending' (iTunes 10.6.3 obviously knows not what to do with these tracks, but he always "sees").

    So my question is: will I live things if I use iTunes game (& music from Apple, somehow) on this old machine? Maybe on the PowerBook iTunes completely end confusion because obviously, it does not recognize the Apple music tracks? I would really appreciate it if someone who uses a similar setup I described to share their experience with me

    Music Apple is not compatible with OS and iTunes on your old machine. Have you already discovered, you can use iTunes game on your old computer. Your old computer is grateful for the music that has been matched or downloaded. You should be able to listen to or download this music, but it's not what you have added music from Apple.

    I use the latest OS and iTunes, but I don't think that your use of the old computer will confuse your existing upward set. As a measure of protection, you must hold another to the top of the iTunes library.

  • My firefox sync data has disappeared

    I'm using Firefox 20.0.1 on a computer laptop 64 bit of windows 8.
    The reply in outlook button didn't work for me so I reset firefox by selecting help > troubleshooting information > reset Firefox
    Who finished so I set up my preferences and connected to my sync account, but now, it does sync not my plugins or anything like that.
    I set it up to do and it says that I am using 2.6 MB of quota.
    I used more that even if before I reset firefox.
    I have it set to merge my data and I have it configured to synchronize everything, but that's the thing... My sync data missing things.
    I think that there is an error occurred, or something. Because I should have my plugins and everything back, but they aren't there. I also tried firefox closing and re-opening it and still no plugins.
    Also I used more quota, but it seems that a lot of my sync account information is missing.
    How to get back to my information synchronization at an earlier time? Because currently, it is not synchronized my plugins, it think that I never had no installed...
    I used to be able to go to tools > Modules > Extensions and there was stuff there, but since I have reset firefox won't return... even if I logged on my sync account, said to merge everything, he gave a lot of time to do so, restarted firefox, etc.
    So I think that my sync of data is not transferred properly or are stripped and I need them there back to their end.

    So, I need to have someone to firefox restore my data synchronization to an earlier time before things got screwed up...

    When the window indicating that Firefox 20 had been released earlier today, I clicked on "Install later." Later, I was working on something, and Firefox suddenly froze.   • I'm about to wall mount my Dell W4201C & need info on how to remove it from its support?

    I came across this forum hoping someone here enlighten me on how do to remove the 4201 C of its stand, so I can mount it on the wall.  When I received this TV a couple of years ago, he came with a mounting kit wall head but I just never had the courage to tackle mount my baby to a wall - so far.  I had the solidedly of support attached to two poles with 4 bolts provided last night.  Tonight, I'll have my son help me lift & lock in the wall plate but I (obviously) need to first remove the furniture.  Looking at the piece of furniture that is connected to the screen, I'm not sure if the two screws down that align with the support legs are that it secures for now or not.  I've always distrusted of simply by unscrewing things just to see what happens, I played have before getting internal parts to go where they are supposed to go because sometimes a screw has a different purpose...

    BTW, the stand was prefixed to the display when we removed the box otherwise I could remember what I did to tie in the first place!  Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

    p.s. I have owned my Dell W4201C TV since Christmas ' 06 & still love! Thought I'd get that road after reading some of the questions some owners have had televisions w/Dell.  I knew none of the questions & hopefully will remain free of problem for the full 60 k hours!   • ESXi 6.0 U1 U2 upgrade, iSCSI questions

    First post, so I'll try and summarize my thoughts and what I did with troubleshooting.  Please let me know if I left anything out or more information is required.

    I use the free ESXi 6.0 on a Board with a CPU Intel Xeon E3-1231v3 and 32 GB of DDR3 ECC UDIMM mATX to Supermicro X10SLL-F.  I use a 4G USB FlashDrive for start-up, 75 GB 2.5 "SATA to local storage (i.e. /scratch) and part of a 120 GB SSD for the cache of the host, as well as local storage.  The main data store for virtual machines are located on a target (current running FreeNAS 9.3.x). iSCSI  This Setup worked great since installing ESXi 6.0 (June 2015), then 6.0 U1 (September 2015) and I recently made the leap to 6.0 U2.  I thought everything should be business as usual for the upgrade...

    However, after upgrading to 6.0 U2 none of the iSCSI volumes are "seen" by ESXi- vmhba38:C0:T0 & vmhba38:C0:T1, although I can confirm that I can ping the iSCSI target and the NIC (vmnic1) vSwitch and VMware iSCSI Software adapter are loaded - I did not bring any changes to ESXi and iSCSI host before the upgrade to 6.0 U2.  It was all work beforehand.

    I went then to dig in the newspapers; VMkernel.log and vobd.log all report that there is not able to contact the storage through a network issue.  I also made a few standard network troubleshooting (see VMware KB 1008083); everything going on, with the exception of jumbo frame test.

    I began to watch the drivers NIC thinking maybe something got screwed up during the upgrade; not the first time I saw problems with the out-of-box drivers supplied by VMware.  I checked VMware HCL for IO devices; the physical NIC used on that host are Intel I217-LM (nic e1000e), Intel I210 (nic - igb) and Intel® 82574 L (nic-e1000e).  Lists HCL from VMware that the driver for the I217-LM & 82574L should be version 2.5.4 - I210 and 6vmw should be 5.0.5.1.1 - 5vmw.  When I went to check, I noticed that he was using a different version of the e1000e driver (I210 driver version was correct).

    3.2.2.1 - 1vmw e1000e is recommended for 5.5 U3 and not 6.0 U2 ESXi ESXi driver!  As these drivers are listed as "Inbox", I don't know if there is an easy way to download the drivers supplied by seller (vib) for him, or even if they exist.  I found an article online to manually update drivers on an ESXi host using esxcli; I tried check and install the new e1000e drivers.

    As you can see there is a newer version and installed it.  However after restarting it still did not fix the issue.  I even went so far as to force the CHAP password used to authenticate to reset and update on both sides (iSCSI initiator and target).  At this point, I wonder if I should somehow downgrade and use the driver of 2.5.4 - 6vmw (how?) or if there is another issue at play here.  I'm going down a rabbit hole with my idea that it is a NETWORK card driver problem?

    I found [a | the?] solution: downgrade for 2.5.4 drivers - Intel e1000e 6.0 U1 6vmw.  For the file name, see VMware KB 2124715 .

    Steps to follow:

    1. Sign in to https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/patch#search
    2. Select ' ESXi (Embedded and Installable) ' and '6.0.0 '.  Click on the Search button.
    3. Look for the update of the release name - of - esxi6.0 - 6.0_update01 (released 10/09/2015). Place a check next to it and then download the button to the right.
    4. Save the file somewhere locally. Open archive ZIP once downloaded.
    5. Navigate to the directory "vib20". Extract from the record of the net-e1000e.  In East drivers Intel e1000e ESXi 6.0 U1: VMware_bootbank_net - e1000e_2.5.4 - 6vmw.600.0.0.2494585.vib
    6. This transfer to your ESXi Server (be it via SCP or even the file within the vSphere Client browser). Save it somewhere you will remember (c.-a-d./tmp).
    7. Connect via SSH on the ESXi 6.0 host.
    8. Issue the command to install it: software esxcli vib install v - /tmp/VMware_bootbank_net-e1000e_2.5.4-6vmw.600.0.0.2494585.vib
    9. Restart the ESXi host.  Once it comes back online your datastore (s) iSCSI / volumes should return.  You can check by issuing h df or the list of devices storage core esxcli at the CLI prompt.  vSphere Client also works

    It took some time to find the correct file (s), the steps and commands to use.  I hope someone else can benefit from this.  I love that VMware can provide for virtualization, but lately, it seems that their QA department was out to lunch.

    Do not always have a definitive explanation as to why Intel e1000e ESXi 5.5 U3 drivers were used when ESXi 6.0 U1 U2.  Maybe someone with more insight or VMware Support person can.

  • vRA 6.2.3 - new deployment. No action of published Blueprint?

    Looking for a little help here...

    Had no chance to perform an upgrade of 6.2.1 to 6.2.3 I deployed a new instance.

    This includes a new database on a Cluster SQL 14 AlwaysOn, vRealize identity device 2.2.3.0 (last available OVF.) and the vRealize device Automation (last available OVF.)

    Deploy the 2 devices, a new Windows of 2012 which server is fully patched and running the PowerShell Script to knock out all of the required components. Identity set it up, configure the device Automation, IaaS install on Windows Server all managed.

    I then connect to the tenant default, add a new tenant, storage of identity and directors for the tenant.

    Logout and the new tenant.

    License unit

    Create users with all privileges

    Disconnect you and back in. I now see the Advanced Services (is not serious, but shows that the user has access).

    Create endpoints vRA for vCenter and vRO

    With success, collect data for both.

    Create endpoints vRO to AD and vCenter

    Create a fabric and groups of companies

    Create a network profile, the reservation policy

  • How to disable the 'Extras' grid, permanently? CS4

    I don't want to 'Snap' or 'Extras' to be on when I open a new document or a pre-existing. I do a lot of alterations close to 1600% + and the show grid Extras seriously degraded my ability to work.

    I saved a workspace with the 'Extras' and 'Snap' disabled under my name in several ways.

    1. with a pre-existing document already open.

    2. with a new document open.

    Then by saving the workspace, then close photoshop and re open. Still no luck. It's frustrated me away from long. Please someone tell me how to get these to turn off completely. If I can't solve this problem I'll go back to CS or 7.0 as those who were the latest versions of 'Good' of the PS before Adobe went and all mucked up.

    Maybe your preference file got screwed? On mine, once that I disabled them, they remain turned off forever (or at least until what I turn them). Maybe try trashing the preferences file?

    Before doing all this, make a backup of your site files (not the definition, the folder and the files themselves) and keep them in case something is wrong in the process.

    1. First of all, make sure you that your site is correctly set and all content in a site folder.
    2. Then, make sure that the models are all in the Templates folder.
    3. Make sure that each page is where you want it to be in the structure of your site files.
    4. Go to each model and correct the paths need tweaking. If your site has been seriously baffled (technical term!), you'll want to check and fix all the links to search for a file or the liaison Point. Don't try to type paths to the model yourself manually.
    5. Open each page in succession and re-apply the model must be bound to. You do this in edit > models > model apply to the Page.
    6. You may need to "assign" a copy of regions can be changed at this stage.
    7. When you are finished with each model, test it by making a minor modification to the model and propagate the change on the child pages. Check the page of the child to ensure they update when the model is modified.
