  Once you have downloaded and the system in question, double-click it to run it, and you go.  There are 90 + updates * after * SP3.  ;-)

  Welcome to the responses of the Forums.  The short answer to your questions are Yes and no and no.

  Depends on how you format the drive, it will delete everything on the drive.  Now, it may still be recoverable with a software specialist or moving to a data recovery company.

  If you formatted your hard drive you would not be able to start to do anything, because there would be nothing on the startup disk.  With the Windows XP CD or with the recovery media provided by the manufacturer of the PC is the only way to reinstall Windows.   I'm sorry, but if you do not have a backup of the sync key then all data stored on the server is lost and cannot be recovered.

  It is always better to make a backup locally on a Flash DRIVE or CD/DVD-ROM because synchronization is not intended to be used in this way.

So I re-formated and reinstalled Windows - but received the same error message while activating. I repeated the format routine - install three times during the last three months, but the same result while activating - "PRODUCT KEY ALREADY in USE.

  I also tried activating by phone but no results there either. Kindly help me to activate and register my product.

  You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

  Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.

  How to reinstall Vista

  Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

  they do it for a nominal cost of $

  also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

  you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

  Ask them of the exact key sequence

  or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

  Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

  they contain all versions of vista

  2. what type of Windows XP Professional CD? It of an upgrade or clean installation CD?

  As you have formatted the hard disk, you can perform a clean install will impose you an operating system available on the computer to perform an installation upgrade.

  You cannot use the upgrade product key to perform a clean installation.
