I have a blue screen I can't start and I don't have a boot disk I can't start in safe or any type of mode

ccorr,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  You will need to provide additional information.

What version of Windows and service pack level are you?
Do you get any error messages?
If something has changed on your system prior to this issue (hardware or software)?
What "Startup disk" do you have?  It is the manufacturer of PC?

Here are a few things to try:
The first thing to do is to boot your system and start pressing F8 as soon as it starts booting.  You will get the Windows startup options screen.  Select "Disable automatic restart in the event of system failure" and let it restart.  When it starts, it can now stop with an error screen and give an error message and code.

Disconnect all external devices (printers, USB Hub, drives external, etc.) and try to start.

Post back with the error information and results. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • Blue screen in XP from DRIVER_FAULT and memory_corruption errors

    Hi people.  Had fun looking for a 45 BSOD for my Compact Win - XP Pro.  I get failures over the last 5 months once a week, ranging from A to Z in bugcodes.  About 10 have been 0 x 50.  I removed Norton360, ran all the tests system twice and three companies ESOT, Norton and the scan MSFT no virus, run Norton Regcleaner and was clean. I have part of the SDK installed and tried to get LMV? to work.  I have included the minidump.text.  I post the most recent dump just after you remove norton.  Any help finding drivers with the"LMV?" would be useful.  I have all the minidumps. I have updated NVIDIA.  It happens at any time, on the most part, any application.  You get the idea, things are a little tense.  I have knowledge of the central computer and a few PC, but dump and stack not debug stuff.

    Thank you, Jerry

    Hello Elliottj,

    I would get the dumps uploaded to us.  If Please zip the contents of the c:\windows\minidump folder and place it in a public folder on http://skydrive.live.com.  Then post the link to us here.

    Let's start by cleaning the pagefile:

    1. Move the image to a different location on the hard drive.
    2. Move the paging file to another drive:
    3. Click Start.
    4. Right click on computer and select Properties.
    5. Click on Advanced system settings.
    6. Go to the Advanced tab if it is not already there.
    7. Click settings under performance.
    8. Click the Advanced tab.
    9. Click on 'change... '. »
    10. Uncheck "Automatically manage the size of pagefile for all readers."
    11. Select the drive where the pagefile is currently.
    12. Select "No paging file" below, and then click set.
    13. Select the drive where you move the file from the list of drives.
    14. Select the System managed size and then click set.
    15. Click OK and click OK again.
    16. Reset.
    17. I hope that we will now have a dumpster good blue screen.

    Once all this was done, we have a task:

    1. Click Start and type CMD
    2. Right click in the command line above and choose 'Run as administrator'.
    3. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK/r
    4. Let the full chkdsk.
    5. Close the command prompt.

    After that, we can look for another blue screen and I hope that this will give us a good image.

    Best regards

  • Error blue screen STOP: 0x0000007e. I powercycled the sys, unable to choose for sure (keys do not work when you try to select a mode) sys is trying just to go back to the blue screen. Help, please

    STOP: 0x0000007e (0xc000001d, ox8537008 0xba4c3508 0xba4c3204) and the system would not come to the top.

    Error blue screen STOP: 0x0000007e. I powercycled the sys, unable to choose for sure (keys do not work when you try to select a mode) sys is trying just to go back to the blue screen. Help, please

    Symptoms: Booted computer, loaded the raid drivers and showed at the start screen XP for half a second then to BSOD with a Stop error Code 0x0000007E - see also a lot of users (0xC0000001D, 0 x-, etc.) as well.

    Solution:

    1 boot from your Windows XP CD and start the recovery console. You may need to press F6 while RC loads in order to load the SATA drivers. you will have a prompt c:\WINDOWS to the console.

    2. type: CD $NtUninstallKB977165$ \spuninst (it's the update, I had to uninstall to get out of the boot loop, other updates can be uninstalled by changing the name of the directory to $NtUninstallKBCODE$, where KBCODE is the code KB)

    3. type: BATCH spuninst.txt

    4. type: exit

    Don't forget to configure your system to boot from the HD before resuming. I hope this helps. Saved me a lot of hassle today.

    I got a virus and I had fixed my computer, but now whenever I try to start my computer it tells me that there is no device boot-able and for me to insert a boot disk, then press a button on any. Well, I looked through all the manuals and CD that came with the computer and not for the life of me, I can find a boot disk. It's an old unit, I bought it in 2005 and I've been using Windows XP. Then what should I do? Is there anyway to get a boot disk? Can I just buy a new form of program store like windows vista or windows 7? Please keep in mind and don't forget when you give inform me that I am unable to do anything with the tower. No internet access, no desktop, nothing, so that the download is not an option. It just starts and then tells me to put in a boot disk. So what I do/how can I remedy this? Thanks for the help!

    Hi Becca_459,

    1. who is the manufacturer of your computer?

    2. What is the exact error you get when you start your computer?

    I suggest you to check the computer's BIOS settings to make sure that BIOS lists and recognizes the hard disk. See the computer documentation or contact the manufacturer to find out how to check the BIOS settings.

    After you verify that the computer's BIOS detects the hard disk, restart the computer, and then test to determine if the problem is resolved.

    If the problem is not resolved, or if the computer's BIOS cannot detect the hard disk, you may have problems with your hardware. Contact the manufacturer to find out how to solve this problem

    NOTE: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from configuration can resolved BIOS/CMOS settings. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    If it does not, you will need to contact the manufacture of equipment.

  • What are the repeated cases of blue screens? Can I fix?

    Pavilion P7-1036 Windows 7 64 Bit blue screens several times, almost every day since PC was bought and brought back.

    Error message: blue screen with "Windows has detected... and stop protecting your computer... If it's the first time... etc, etc, then long lines of 0 F x too long to copy down.»  Hours spent on the phone with HP support.

    Hello

    Have you tried a full restore of HP?  Backup your data on external media before that.  After the full restore, don't let the Microsoft automatic update process not apply the updates until you can determine if your PC is stable. There might be a bad update from Ms.

    If you can properly connect mode without failure, you can use "msconfig" to toggle various programs that load at startup.  Finally, find the one that is causing your program to crash.

    Unable to start Vista, cannot restore the drive.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • HP Pavilion Elite m9280a PC, blue screen now won't start!
    Hello
    My pc does not now start upward. It worked fine until the other day when I got a blue screen STOP error. Before that I could write the code that the computer tried to restart. It won't have the option to go in safe mode now, the hard drive light flashes on the front just once when you turn then just sits there, white light, solid screen. I am running Vista.
    Any help would be awsome as I am Flexi-rent this pc and do not want to pay for a computer I can't use even turned off!
    Thank you
    Pat
    P.S. I had a Vista disk when I got the PC.
    Pat1982,
    You should always have a recovery hard disk partition.
    When you turn on the computer, press F11 repeatedly until the system recovery begins. For more information, read this:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00814731
    If/when you get all of this done, you must create a set of recovery disks and then perform the steps described in this article, to avoid possible future problems:
  • blue screen after replacing the battery and charger / need of Windows XP Pro disc
    Hi all.
    I bought a used laptop from gateway with Windows XP Professional already on it. The person I got it never gave me the disc of Windows or textbooks and it is out of warranty. I had to replace the battery and the charger after 3 months of use, and it now gives me the blue screen.  I can't enter in safe mode, it gives me just all sorts of codes for Win32 /? (different things). SYS. The blue screen also tells me if this keeps continues to go to F8(Advanced Options), and then choose the option. I called my local tech and he said contact Windows to get a disk to fix the problem. How can I do (I'm not a comp WIZ). So I try here to get any help. I am on a borrowed laptop so if you can help, please send me a personal email to * address email is removed from the privacy *. I get their
    After reading the owner's manual for the NX260X (Chpt. 7, p. 72-74) I am convinced that the laptop, as previously indicated above by PML, is originally came with Windows Vista.
    http://support.gateway.com/s/manuals/mobile/8511886.PDF
    In addition, according to the instructions of the manual recovery (pg.74, means only available recovery Windows are re - install using the supplied DVD.) This is meaningless given that bridge claims the recovery partition was part of laptop computers sold after November 2004.  I agree that, if you decide not to try to fix the errors, you should consider Windows 7.
    However, personally, I would try to fix the mistakes here before you spend a minimum of $100.00 for Windows 7. We usually have a pretty good success rate when the OP stays with the subject.
