I have a genuine copy of Windows xp professional that I bought, when I enter the serial number it does not enter the letter "N".

I have re-formatted a computer for my friend, boiught a genuine copy of windows xp pro, but when I have bin and enter the serial number on the last block of numbers it will not enter the letter "N", so I can't validate the copy I have... why?

I tested the keyboard and the letter "N" works perfectly

N is a character not allowed in the Windows product key - check the label again.

Where did you purchase this license?

  • How can I activate my genuine copy of Windows XP Professional? When I try it says: "activation could not be completed right now online.

original title: How can I activate my genuine copy of Windows XP Professional?

    Hello

I wonder if there is another way to activate my genuine copy of Windows XP Professional, because when I try to activate via the activate Windows

Assistant, all I get is a message saying that the 'online activation could not be completed at this time. "

Its weird because this is the first time I met this kind of problem after format and do a clean install of Windows XP in which, incidentally, I do

every year since 2006. (This is to keep my computer and working properly).

And also, if I tried to validate my copy of Windows XP by using Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer 8, but I keep getting "Validation failed".

Any ideas what could possibly cause this? coz I already formatted my computer three times since yesterday in the hope that it could solve the problem, but with no luck.

I hope someone could help me with this.

  • How can I not have a genuine copy of windows 7 when I installed it on an official record?

I installed windows 7 on my computer a while ago and it was working fine. Until today, when I turned on my computer and a message popped up saying that I don't have a copy genuine windows 7. Even if I had the drive official windows 7 when I bought my desktop computer. Nothing else was wrong with my computer until now and my anti-virus has not picked up something, so the problem is only with windows 7.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

It seems more than one fault on behalf of windows that it wasn't something accompanying advising me of what I could / could not do with the disc.

It is in the end user license agreement you accepted when you installed.
I suspect that you used a Dell OEM recovery disk to install. This drive works only on dell computers that he intended. It will not work on a Toshiba.
Your bios has a marker for windows 7. Windows has not released to manufacturing until end of July 2009. The only way the bios of your computer may have a windows 7 marker is programmatically loading of pirates.
Except for the family pack, it is licensed per computer.

  • I'm trying to upgrade my Dell E510 Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional that I bought.

I did all the back up and these and I run the Setup.  I choose the Customize option because I know that I have to reformat the hard drive.  He started very well.  It decompresses the files and completes and goes for its first reboot.  Then after that is seem like he's going to start and comes with a STARTING WINDOWS screen.  However it never goes any further.  Help.  Please let me know how I can get beyond this point.  BTW, the Advisor of compatibility is clean.

Microsoft Level 2 returned my call. In fact, they were able to determine the cause. It was a memory problem. I had 2 different types of memory in my PC. Although they seem to work with XP, well they had problems with Windows 7 Installation and configuration in the Dell E510. The tech has me pull put of the RAM chips and windows 7 is installed from there, on, no problem. Why I'm not really sure. After installing I put back in the memory and everything's fine. So if you have a DELL E510 with different types of memory, you can take one or all the fleas memory except one to install your upgrade to WINDOWS 7. Problem has been solved!

  • Windows 7 and I recently bought a h340′s Logictech USB headset. Does not work

First of all, I'm kinda a Luddite, so if you provide an answer, please make really simple as I'm not so bright.

Headphones with microphone and speakers work for my wife, but not for me.   I don't know if it's a problem with the software (Rosetta Stone) or if it's because I have a very deep voice (bass).  I would like to know how to test the helmet speakers and a microphone in windows (I have Windows 7) to ensure that it is properly installed and functional
any help is appreciated with gratitude!
    Thank you
    "dan."

    Hello

    Please:

    1. connect your headphones to the computer via the USB port.

    2. wait a moment that riders can automatically install.

(usually it will tell you in a balloon in the bottom right of the screen)

    3. click on:

    Start-> Control Panel-> Sound

and then click the recording tab.

    4. check that the headset is listed with a green circle with a check mark to show that it is the default recording device.

(If it is not then right-click on it and select set as default device)

5 switch on the headphone and talk normally - you should see the bars on the right thumb up and down to show the levels you're talking about. Here is what mine looks like:

If the levels are not too high that you want to select your helmet in the box as shown above and then click the Properties button, and then select the levels tab set the slider to the right (= more) and then click OK. Now test again as before.

Also, check the cable from the headphones for any order of level or mute buttons. I do not see your helmet looking on the Logitech site, but worth a visit.

There are other ways to check the noise - like built in sound recorder. Please see:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/record-audio-with-sound-recorder .

You should be able to test that the part of the listener of your helmet when playing any sound or music.

    Finally:

-Are you & your wife two using the same computer with these headphones?

-You and your wife use Rosetta Stone?

    • cannot minimize programs, they just close.
    • Microsoft difficulty it Center will not work, keeps giving error messages.
    • CSP according to me is no use however cannot depend on tools system;

    • WORD, EXCELL etc. have all disappeared however open 1 documents will then close again.
    • system all left of the restore points and cannot be reinstated deleted files;

Thank you all in advance for any help... Please...

The answers will be focus just autour down your stuff...  Because I think that it better to rebuild this machine to try and repair all the damage.

Never used a Disk Imaging application (Symantec/Norton Ghost and Acronis True Image are the two most people have heard of)?

You may be a time when something like that - as well as their usually provided utility that allows you to read in the image file - might be a good choice.  This way, you get a snapshot in time backup of the system at the moment, the permissions mean NOTHING when direct playback of files image and you can browse it on another computer.

Another option is a Windows UBCD - boot with it, connect to a network share or a USB drive and copy things you MUST CERTAINLY off the system before rebuild.  Not to mention - Windows UBCD has commercial imagery that are free to use on that.  ;-)

Why can I not use my old genuine copy of windows vista on my new pc?
I received an activation message and I don't know what to do

If your Vista came pre-installed in your old PC, then this is an OEM license that cannot be transferred to your new PC.

To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag (download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 ) tool
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, which will produce the report.
To copy the report in your response, click the button copy in the tool (ignore the error at this stage), and then paste (using r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your response.

  • After I downloaded beta Security Essentials, my computer say suddenly that he was not a genuine copy of Windows running and locked up.

original title: the customer service is horrible

After I downloaded beta Security Essentials, my computer say suddenly that he was not a genuine copy of Windows running and locked up.

I called last night and got a foreign person has attempted to resolve the issues and could not, so he told me that I had to call back after 06:00 to speak to someone in the United States.
So I called back today at 06:00 and got one of those who are running around things voice control that didn't fix my problem at all. After much effort, I got a live person. Again, it was a foreign person (why make me wait all night and get up early to call?!?!)
This woman told me to restart. I told her that I had rebooted about 10 times since the day before and each time he took forever to load back up the box that tells me that I need to activate windows. She has reiterated, "I ask you to restart." I knew he wouldn't do ANYTHING, but I did and after the session it forever (as I told him it would be) she told me that I had to remind once I got up the box again. I called after that I got the box AND HAD TO START OVER again ONCE with someone new. Of course, she was trying to pass me to someone else.
Of course, after all this trouble, no MS sells a product key for Vista, it is abandoned. So I need to go buy Windows 7 and she told me that I'll LOSE EVERYTHING when I install it - all my documents and family photos are gone forever. Why not take my money and sell me a product key instead of let me in trouble?
The worst ever undertaken. Of course, MS doesn't care because they have a monopoly.

You should not need to buy anything except the recovery disc for your machine (if the built-in recovery partition does not work), unless you really need Win 7 for some reason any.

That being said - the COA sticker on your machine is readable? If Yes, then you should have no problem with a Windows 7 upgrade version - but you will need to either use activation by phone, or installation methods described here...

  • Can I put a non-genuine copy of windows to a genuine copy of Windows 8 Pro?

Now before anyone starts to judge I want to give some context as to what happened.

I bought the upgrade Windows 8 Pro pack which was a student offered to host my new hybrid hard drive. I installed on my previous Vista hard drive and I noticed that I was required to install the pack to upgrade the disk with a previous version of Windows. Therefore, I decided install Windows 8 Pro Vista hard disk and clone new hard disk.
The cloning went perfectly. However, when I entered the hard drive containing the Windows 8 Pro clone, it did not allow my turn and in Device Manager it does appear that the system. There is also a Build number located at the bottom right of my desktop screen. Think I should reinstall windows from scratch, I proceed to the real system command (the one containing Vista previously which is now upgraded to Windows 8 Pro) and decided to reinstall windows in the control panel and wipe all readers.
I quickly realized that this is a mistake, because when I boot into the previously-Vista drive, reinstalling Windows 8 became a trial version instead (with XXXX to build lower-right again). In regards to the cloned drive, the error starting screen (that require you to reinstall windows because of lack of boot configurations).
I lost the disc Vista it long time ago and I don't have the box of windows with me more. I copy down the so-called activation key but it's one with xxxxx-OEM-xxxx. Before this script together, under my computer properties, the product key seems to be forever in a State of "2 days before automatic activation" and when I click on it, he said: I'm unable to activate this product key.
So that being said, I was wondering if I could just download and run a picture of a non-genuine copy of Windows in order to start a new installation (ie. choose with windows installation disk and reformat the drive containing the windows build demo).
    Thank you.

I just decided to hell with it and contacted Microsoft technical support for assistance.

Managed to activate my windows and things work fine now.
Thanks for the comments without worrying about all of you who responded and sorry for taking your time.
