I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011 15 "." I want to improve my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB. I bought 4 additional GB and when I went to change there are 2 - 2 GB instead of 1 to 4 GB. I think that I have only two slots for cards what is the best thing to

Too much information in the topic. First time. My concern is that I have 2 - 2 GB cards I thought that there would be 1 to 4 GB, and I could put the extra 4 GB in the second slot. What is my best course of action to upgrade to 8 GB?

Thank you for your help

Get an another 4 GB of RAM so that you have a pair.

Make sure that your RAM meets the required specifications for your computer. Go to crucial.com and use the scanner. It will tell you what RAM works with your computer.

  • Double disc SSD/HDD on MacBook Pro late 2011

So I finally finished putting my double drive on my MacBook Pro late 2011. I ended up putting the SSD where the optical drive has been, since research told me that the end 2011 MBP is the lucky model with an optical drive that supports Sata III. If anyone can give me a reason to spend my SSD and HDD, please let me know.

Anyway, now I ask to help with setting up my macbook pro to use two disks. I copied everything on the SSD and the SSD drive is set to start my computer to the top. I can already tell that this thing is so much faster now. However, I basically just have two exact copies of my all my stuff on the two disks. How can I configure my computer to know which drive to use? I want a few things to use my HARD drive and other things to use my SDD, not all at once. Where are these settings and how to do?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Jdsr4c:

    I have a Macbook Pro 2011 start.

I installed a 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO instead of HD.

I moved the HD to the optical Bay.

Optical Bay has 3 Gigabit speed. HD space has a 6 Gigabit speed.

See the screenshots of my mac.

The old HD, I would reformat is not bootable.

I use my old HD for storage of movies, etc.

So for example, I'll download a movie and then move it to my old hard drive. I'll put it in a directory named for example movies.

On the SSD, I'll do an 'Alias' pointing to the movies on the old HD directory (on windows, it would be a shortcut).

In any case, hope this helps.

  • Trackpad MacBook Pro late 2011 does not not after upgrade

I just update the OS in my MacBook Pro (late 2011) which worked perfectly well 'El Capitan' to 'Sierra '. Everything went, smooth and pleasant. but now, the trackpad is completely erratic, is in itself (such as move and open programs like possessed). I tried several suggestions from apple such as checking for updates, check the settings, delete all the gestures, etc. I'm assuming that the material is very well that was perfectly fine yesterday... any suggestions please help.   -Note; I have to use an external mouse, and the latter is very well.

    Hello Med_,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. It is my understanding that after upgrading to Sierra, your MacBook trackpad has become erratic. I know that my trackpad is an important part of my daily use, I can certainly understand your concern. I'm here to help get this resolved with you.

You did an excellent job so far! Then I recommend the system management controller (SMC) reset. This system can solve some unexpected behaviors. Follow the steps below:

    1. Stop the Mac.
    2. Unplug the MagSafe from Mac power adapter.
    3. Remove the battery. (Learn about removing the battery in the MacBook and MacBook Pro computers).
    4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    5. Reconnect the battery and the MagSafe power adapter.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the Mac.

The LED on the MagSafe power adapters could change State or temporarily disable when you reset the SMC.

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

If the problem persists, test this problem in safe mode. This will allow you to exclude the software as the cause. To help get started in safe mode and additional steps, use the steps and the link below:

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

    See you soon!

Your end of 2011 than MacBook Pro will support up to 16 GB of RAM.  I installed my end 2011 Macbook Pro and it works well.

There will be no harm done with 16 GB of RAM.  Make sure you use the correct specifications: PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM 204 pins.

The best sources for RAM compatible Macs are OWC and Crucial.

Internet is a crazy jungle is crazy every day, in order to protect myself I plan the activation of FileVault, I use an old Macbook Pro 13 "Late 2011 model with 8 GB of ram and a disc hard 500 GB Mavericks.

Activation of FileVault make very slow or slow down?

I have a Time Capsule and Time Machine backups for it which are not encrypted, will turn on FileVault no problem or encrypt everything on the next backup?

    Thank you!

No, not once the conversion is completed, you should see no difference.

    FileVault encrypts only locally.

  • MacBook Pro Late 2011 Lion slow after new mem SSD and 16G

I'm under Lion (10.7.5) on a MBP late 2011. Replaced the original 750 GB HDD with a 1 to Samsung SSD 850 EVO and store Crucial 2x8G; to replace the battery with one of Lizone. (Restore own Internet) installation of Lion on the SSD in an external enclosure, software update, then exchanged the SSD for the migration of Bay assistant and used internal drive with the old HARD drive in the external box. OnyX to clear the caches and other cleanup. Basic response (keystrokes, menus, scrolling, select the element and application launch and quit smoking) is stutteringly slow and delay - but sometimes, after a reboot, all right (with dynamic performance, I expected to the SSD upgrade) for awhile. I have disabled Spotlight and invoke TM only manually.

I've ran out of ideas and would appreciate advice on what could be causing the slow response! Thank you.

  • MacBook pro late 2011 glitches after logic board replacement

    Hi all!

I end 2011 macbook pro in April 2015, I got free logic board replacement because of glitches of gpu (http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/) but now I'm having the same problem again. my macbook showing pink lines on startup apple logo and does not start.

Can I replace my logic board again (it will be 2nd time) this program?

Depending on which country you are (United States I guess) you should actually be covered under various consumer protection regulations and must now insist on a replacement machine. This defect is a manufacturing defect and that you already had a repair that did not set you have the legal right to a replacement. That said I should advise that Apple do not tend to stick to their legal obligations in this case (I know I have a macbook 13-inch pro who had questions on the first day and despite extensive repairs Apple still refuse to replace - although clearly indicated their own conditions of sale & the law here) He should have).  On another front repairs performed on any product should work properly for a "reasonable" period Again the definition depends on what country you are but in Europe, which is usually recognized only 6 years old at best. Good luck!

  • MacBook Pro Late 2011 startup questions - SMC reset necessary after each shut down.

I was asked to look at a friends end 2011 Macbook Pro.

Initially, it seemed dead. No power, no response. I did the Shift + Command + control + Power to try to reset the SMC nothing helps.

I opened the back and disconnected the battery and the magsafe. I help the power button down for 5 seconds. reconnected the dough tried power on and it didn't work until I plugged the magsafe. Ah ha I thought it, BUT. Once started it works very well, some check everything looks good and battery shows healthy with 70% of load.

I restart the machine and it starts fine. HOWEVER. I stop the machine and I'm back to square one. Power supply photo and battery connected.

So I rinse and repeat. battery disconnect power hold button wait 5 plug in back and then turn it on. As before it works only after the power supply was ALSO connected. to test this situation I tried again without connecting the battery and just the power supply. Since then only the battery was in, nothing until that I plugged the battery ALSO.

So the Macbook will start only after a stop if the battery and power are both removed, button / help for 5 then BOTH the power and battery are reconnected.

I've seen people with similar questions but no one seems the specific symptoms that it requires this reset each STOP but restarts not on the list.

    Clues, help, correct?

    See you soon

  • 8 GB + 2 GB Macbook Pro late 2011 - Possible?

    Hey,.

I bought a bar of 8 GB 1333 Mhz of Crucial to add to my Macbook Pro 13 ", end 2011, which currently has 4 GB. Only after I ordered it, I realized that the 4 GB came in 2 + 2GB sticks. A rookie mistake, I know.

My question is this: is it possible to get the 8 GB in a RAM slot and keep the 2 GB in the other, for a total of 10 GB? Or is it better to let the one with 8 GB?

I know that Apple in its recommendations stipulates that the maximum is 4 + 4GB, but Crucial and many other users have used up to 16 GB in such a MBP without problems and optimize performance. Can someone provide feedback on which would be the best option?

    Thank you
    Vasco

    2.4 GHz Intel Core i5

    Intel HD Graphics 3000 384

Install it.  It will work and be beneficial.  That said, it is not as effective as a set of RAM of capacity equal.  Yield loss will be 10%-15%.

When the bank account permits, order another 8 GB module and then install it for a pair of 16 GB.  That's what I have in my 2011 Mbps.

    Ciao.

Addendum: I should make it obvious that you should also keep a module of 2 GB for a total of 10 GB of RAM.

  • battery not charging not - 17 "Macbook Pro late 2011

    Hi all

so I'm OSX 10.11.3 on a Macbook Pro 17 "(dernier modèle fin 2011) 2.5 Ghz / 16 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD and 1 TB HD installed (not DVD player more)." I prefer the matte screen of 17 "to something more recent, so I would keep. I actually had two (the other is in early 2011 2.4 Ghz) only it showed graphic problems feared and died before Christmas, so I moved it.

I have a problem of "load", most of the time the laptop is connected to a screen 27 "love at first sight and levied on it (I also tried 3 different Chargers there is no difference). The problem I describe happened first in 2nd week of January, I could not solve - in the end I swapped the battery of my 17 "2.4 Ghz for the new computer laptop dead and somehow successful to do work again... which leads me to believe that it's NOT the battery.

    The situation:

The computer is connected to the power supply display and thunderbolt

The magsafe plug LED is green

the menu bar of battery icon shows less than 100% WAY (currently 50%)

    menu icon menu bar says:

    Battery won't charge

    Power source: power adapter

most of the time since 10 January, everything's okay, battery drains a little / charge of kicking in / loading finished / battery drains a little etc...

    The problem:

Sometimes the battery slowly drains that I continue to work and at one point the computer shut down hard.

There is no warning, no pause to sleep... just BANG - OFF - black screen.

I tried using different Chargers (up to 4) that work fine with my wife's cell phone and even the old 17 '' fresh.

    I tried:

    Restart

reset the SMC according to here reset management system (SCM) controller on your Mac - Apple Support

reset the Pram (although I think that it's now obsolete - right?) according to OS X Yosemite here: reset PRAM your computer

repair permissions and the HD of the punt rescue partition (boot with Cmd - R)

No change. I am now at 48% of the battery, I need to work and I'm at a loss to know how to keep this thing running...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
