I have an iMac...

My wife of 2009 IMac has finally given up. His hard drive, over a few days, died. Then, I took out my cupping and screwdriver set and grabbed a spare hard drive that was lying. I came to the iMac and in a few hours if it works. Then, I noticed something: he soon! I have a MacBook Air mid 2015; the lowest model at the end, but it is fast enough for me pellet until a couple of weeks - see my other post on this one here. Applications would be load in less than a few seconds, and it was just as if I had hooked my laptop to iMac. However, being a hard drive and also being a pretty old, it has started to slow down I put a bunch of files on it - maybe it's even a failure. The thing is, except that I could use it totally is my secondary computer after my laptop. I was wondering if you guys think it would be worthwhile to get one, maybe 128 GB SSD for like $100 and pop on the iMac. See, I didn't really need all on one side of the desktop computer has a much larger, higher resolution screen. And that's why I would actually buy one. It is 3.06 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo iMac 10.1, 1 processor, 2 carrots, 3 MB L2 cache, 4 GB of memory (I could be upgraded as easy-peasy), with a GPU ATI Radeon HD 4670 + 256 MB of VRAM, 1920 x 1080 display 32-bit color and USB 2.0. What do you think guys? Can I upgrade the RAM and enter an SSD? Or is it ready for Collection?

Can I upgrade the RAM and enter an SSD?

You have already proven the ability to install equipment, then Yes. It will be like a new Mac.

Same 4 GB is enough if you have fast mass storage, which means SSDS in your case. More RAM is almost always beneficial, even if a misconception often reproduced on this site is to take the memory is the cause of poor performance without step fundamental to use Activity Monitor to determine if installing more memory is justified or not.

The total number of files, their size overall or the amount of available space has a negligible effect on the flow of hard disc. This is another common misconception. When available storage is less than a certain threshold, OS X will present an informative dialogue (which should not be ignored).
