  One suggestion would be to go to downloads and look for an updated driver chipset.

  In general, the PCs slow down over time because of all the waste that accumulates on them. A lot of people a re - install the Dell factory image after a few years to solve this problem. It doesn't take long, but it requires that you back up all your files and then reinstall applications once you have finished.

  As I understand it, it's your laptop that does not have the Recovery Manager, the RECOVERY Partition is missing from this computer, the laptop is not able to rip a CD with the multimedia player you indicated above, and that you are not able to find the laptop using the network of the homegroup.   To activate the laptop to rip CDs to your Media Player, I advise you to follow the steps described in this document on rip music from a CD. To re - install the RECOVERY Partition and the Recovery Manager on your laptop, please follow this resource on getting a disc recovery HP or HP USB recovery disc.

  To discover devices on your network to homegroup, I recommend later in this document on homegroup from start to end. If you are still not able to rip CDs or to identify the laptop from the desktop on the homegroup, I suggest you contact the Support technique Microsoft for assistance.

  Page 12 of the user guide it lists the versions of Windows.  I couldn't find any mention of your Mac OS.
