I have not the Awesome bar behaves like a regular search bar!

Firefox 3.6.12 / Windows 7
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; RV:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 Firefox/3.6.12

I just moved back to firefox after that chrome has removed the ability to manually manage my cookies. So, I want the bar awesome Act in the same way as a search bar of the acts. When I put in a word or a name, I don't want it to automatically go to a URL. I want that all my GOOGLE searches resulting * I * decide where I want to go. Right now, I'm using the Google search bar AND address bar to show where I'm from the google bar only shows the research.

Is there a way for the address bar to be simply a search bar?

  1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
  3. Locate the preference keyword. URL, double-click it and change its value on the link below, this will make it go to a Google search results page.

    Hi Lew100

You are in full screen (press F11 to toggle)?

  • The Awesome Bar does not work since 11/16/16, FF 50.0

The version of FF 50.0 Win10 build 1607 (latest updates)

The Awesome Bar has stopped working (aka the search bar, the URL bar).

If I start typing in there, the drop-down list box appears, I select an element, but FF does nothing. If I hit , nothing happens.

It's the same if I 'type of hand' in the URL, or paste a URL in the impressive bar.

There is no question by navigating from the Favorites, bookmarks, or by clicking on the URL in a web page, it is only the awesome bar that is not working.

    How can I fix it?

    Thanks in advance, everyone!

  • Why don't the awesome bar stand still? and not flop down this annoying way.

The awesome bar is activated with a flight maneuver. If there was an option to eliminate this unnecessary action and leave the awesome bar fully engaged at all times. With dual 20 "monitors on my desk, lost space isn't a problem, are wasted and repetitive motions.

Disabling the extension, the Fox, but better 1.1.8 seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for any help in pointing me in the direction to consider extensions as the culprit.

  • The 'Awesome Bar' does not work. He does not remember anything of the bookmarks

Just updated again Firefox. In the past, when I'd start typing a site in the firefox address bar it would complete as it was already in my favorites. But now it does nothing. It just sits there waiting for me the full address. I could start typing Netf and it automatically end Netflix.com

Why is happening. Also, for the first days of the new version I had to go back in the tools, Options and reset things at least 3 or 4 times before they finally remained as I wanted.

I would say he never remember history and after while I would look and he said, do not forget history. I wanted a blank start page, and not to change it. It's normal now but the Awesome Bar does not at all.

Your bookmarks are displayed in the drop-down list auto suggestion?

Otherwise: Under Options > confidentiality, in the lower part, does always show that Firefox should suggest bookmarks in the location bar?

If auto-suggest works but the AutoFill does, you may check that it has not been disabled here:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste autofs and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) If browser.urlbar.autoFill preference is "BOLD" and "user" false, double-click it to change its value to the default value true. It should work in new tabs.

It already is the value true, hmm, I wonder if there is a problem of private browsing? (I didn't test with automatic private browsing).

Miss me the line having the awesome bar and the Home icon.
How can I get this crucial line?

I've updated to the new version and here is the result.

Make sure the toolbars like the toolbar 'Navigation' and the 'personal bar' are visible: "view > toolbars".

    • Is he missing elements then open the window customize via "view > toolbars > customize" or "Firefox > Options > toolbars»
    • If a missing element is located in the toolbar palette and then bring her back in the window customize the toolbar
    • If you don't see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette, then click on the "Restore default" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • The awesome bar does not work as it should?

When I typed in a Word, for ex, 'space', initially FF would take me to 'google search' with all the options for 'space' in this research.
Suddenly, 'parola' butted and my searches are redirected to this place.
I scoured the forums etc. They suggested "Subject: config","keyword.url". "" Then right click and the setting on 'reset'.
Well, when I do this, my "reset" function is not available. It is faded. Then I did a right click on 'modify' and type in the option only available in the forums etc to google search:

    "http://www.google.com/ig?ie=UTF-8 & oe = UTF-8 & hl = in & aig = 0 & reason = 1.

From there, when I go to the awesome bar and enter ' thespace', it does me not this 'google search' page, but need me either on my own "igoogle" page, or if I register on igoogle, it takes me to a regular google home page.

Then, I want what I searched in the search box of the google and igoogle with all available 'google' search results. "',But the search box is empty.

    What to do now?

I hope I'm clear on the issue. That I couldn't find in the forums/help pages.

    Thank you for your help.

  • The awesome bar in FF4 does not display the URL of the previous page visited the current.

The awesome bar to view the URL of the visited page, given that the upgrade to 4 FF is no longer the fact. It displays the URL of the first page visited say a goodle search so if you navigate to another page or return to the search results, it continues to display the URL of the old or none at all.

A few possible causes. There may be an add-on that is not compatible with Firefox 4 the cause. For details of how to troubleshoot see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

The URL does not update can also be caused if there is a problem with the file that stores the browsing history and bookmarks. To see if this is the case, open your profile file, for more details on how to find this see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

Now, close Firefox and places.sqlite and rename it places.sqlite.old. If there is a file called places.sqlite - journal you can remove it. Restart Firefox and it will recreate this file, import bookmarks from a backup, if browsing history will be lost. Now check if the URL changes.

  • I'm having a strange problem with the awesome bar

The awesome bar/address bar is as impressive as it used to be. When I start typing in a speech, it seems that he does check more through my history and gives a list of possible matches but gives just the stem of an address. For example, if I type in "goo" will end this at 'google.com' if I add this with a "/ has" it's going to end this to 'google.com/analytics ' but it is also good that he doesn't get, as I say, no history list or bookmarks.

I checked the options and also about: config and all the settings are as they should be, as far as I can tell (and I certainly had not changed any of them when he began to behave badly). I have also disabled all extensions and plug-ins.

It is driving my crazy, because I quite often use sites whose long addresses and keep in mind each of the components of each address. I would go with Chrome, but I also use Firebug, a fair bit so don't really want to do.

Of the image, it seems that there is a persistent add-on. He was re-activated?

  • I can't the elements removed from the Awesome Bar

For the latest versions of Firefox, I always wanting to old URLS will appear in the Awesome bar. No matter what I try to delete them, they do not disappear. I did everything suggested (delete history, erase cache, reload with a version of Firefox, etc) - no luck. I also notice that when I start to type an address, there is no drop-down list that appears for me to be able to delete entries.

I'm sure there's some semisimple difficulty, I just haven't stumble on it and after months of this, I have given up trying to understand me.

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Cannot remove the awesome bar history

So I completely wiped my browser history, several times. But I always /all/ of my story in the awesome bar, which is just super aggravating. What can I do?

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can delete all data stored in Firefox with a specific area through "Forget this Site" in the context menu of a history entry ("" history > view history "or" view > sidebar > History "") or via the subject: permissions page.

Using "Forget this Site" will delete all data stored in Firefox in this area as bookmarks, cookies, words of past, cache, history, and exceptions, so be careful and if you have a password or other data from that domain you don't want to lose then check that back up these data or make a comment.

You can't recover from this "forget" unless you have a backup of the files involved.

It has no lasting effect, so if come back you on such a 'forgotten' site, then the data of this Web site will be saved once more.

  • My new tab page is missing and now when I tap on: newtab in the awesome bar I get a page called subject: topic. Help!

I use to have the grid pinned Web pages, whenever I clicked the X to a new tab page. It has now disappeared. I figured out if I typed about: newtab in the Awesome bar he would restore the page, but not all the time. Now when I tap on: newtab in the awesome bar I get a page called subject: topic... and I don't want that. How can I get my pinned sites on my new tab page?

Open a new window or tab. In the address bar, type Subject: config.
If a warning screen is displayed, press the button to be careful .
That's where Firefox considers the information he should run.
At the top of the screen is a search bar. Enter browser.newtab.url
    and press ENTER. browser.newtab.URL
tells Firefox what to show when a new tab is opened.
If you want, right click and select Edit. You can change the setting

    topic: Home (Default Firefox homepage),
on: newtab (displays the more visited sites),
    Subject: vacuum (a blank page),

or you can enter any web page or Subject: page you want.

The same instructions are used to the new setting of the window, classified
    browser.startup.homepage.

  • How can I erase the Awesome bar?

I followed the instructions provided by Mozilla.
    IT DOES NOT WORK.
No matter what I do, if I type in the bar location... also called the address bar... also called the Awesome bar... should have been called the useless bar... old sites Web will show that I have not visited in more than a year.
Even if I clear my history every day.
Yes, I select AS my calendar.
Yes, I click AND DOWNLOAD the HISTORY of NAVIGATION.
Still, whenever I type anything in the bar of Useless, old sites Web is suggested.
How can I erase this and never make it do this again?
How can I get the guy who designed the bar pulled Useless?

(On another note... why I have to provide a password of eight letters at least 1 number? If I want a weak password, MY risk. What do you care? Also, if every Web site requests a password of eight letters at least 1 number you are actually makes it easier to hack because I am limited on coming up with new personal passwords for me since I have to remember and you make it so complicated.)

    Hello

To disable the address bar to not display search history results. You can do this by going to Firefox-> Options-> privacy and select the option that says: "when you use the location bar suggest" and set it to "nothing". I have attached a screenshot that might make it easy for you to locate.

    I hope this helps.
